Hi,

Is there a way to disable all the characters which are not in the original JA2 game? I know I can just not recruit them, but I'd rather have them not show up at all. As it is, they clutter the mug shot screen. In the old situation, the mug shot index just took up a single page, which was really excellent. Now, I need to page through the screens, which makes it much harder to see at a glance.

Since I'm completely not interested in the other characters, I'd really wish for them not to show up at all, so I can keep my screens clean and uncluttered.

Is there an option for this?

if you like more classic ja2 feeling (without those new merc), run the ini editor and select "ja2vanilla" from the mods drop down list and then click start.

Thanks, but that's not what I want. I just dislike the other mercs. Other stuff I want to change, I can easily find the settings (e.g. DCA), but generally speaking, I like most of it (inventory system, attachments, some of the facilities), just not the mercs. And that's a setting I can't find in the ini files Sad

I know I can ignore them. I just want them to not clutter my roster. Especially having AIM roster reduced to a single screen makes my life easier. Having to page just makes handling AIM clunky.

Apparantly, it can be done (using JA2_vanilla VFS settings) but I can't find it in the INI.

Not a super big deal, but I really don't know why this particular setting is one that I can't manipulate (or well, can't find how to manipulate)

Look at Data-1.13/TableData/AIMAvailability.xml:
...

	Hector

...
Hector appears in AIm, while Rev does not. So just set and to -1 for those mercs you do not want to appear.

Great! I'll compare these with the AIMAvailability.xml (and MERCAvailability.xml I suppose) in the Vanilla data directory and set the ones I don't want to -1.

Hmmm... Small snag. I got to the point where a few mercs die while on assignment in other theaters. But both of the messages I got, was about mercs that no longer had a bio.

Next time, I'm going to delete every entry from the XML file I guess (or perhaps copy it from the Vanilla-VFS), that should remove them from all algorithms in the game I guess?
