This is my first run on the 2014 release(7435), experienced difficulty. I have left the ini settings pretty much as is. I have taken Chitzena (nothing else) and am in the process of training militia. Now there are 50 soldiers displayed at C3 (nothing else as far as I can scout). Is this coincidence, the dreaded counterattack(s) - I thought are disabled - or just the "new normal" difficulty? Will they all attack in one rush or disperse again?

I had the same thing happen to me in Cambria. 60 soldiers with 30 of them elite attacked the mine sector, it was quite the surprise and got slaughtered with 40 militia. Not sure it would have helped, but I hadn't gone to the farm to get a few better weapons. Before starting I disabled the Drassen counterattack, but didn't know that there was also a setting for the other cities to have massive counterattacks. Luckily, I had a save game from before completing Cambria and went into the .ini to find where to change that setting. Ended up going back to the vanilla setting, wasn't sure what the difference was between the other two choices. They both seemed like massive counterattacks with one being even moreso. Wished there was a setting between vanilla and massive counterattacks.

On edit: Just noticed...I got demoted. angry

I got another problem: I am being overrun by Dinosaur Nazis on Hoverboards! I can't find either dynamic_opinions or dynamic dialogue in my ini or in any other file in the entire folder - or the game. I activated the "Briefing room" but I only get a start page with a line where I can type something. I did a clean ja2 install and 1.13 on top. Otherwise the game seens to run fine and the other new features like food, spy and tripwires work. I am stumped, what did I do wrong?

Cross the river, friend. Hoverboards don't work there. Then add washing-liquid, Nazis fear bubbles.

To your other problem, the 2014 stable release does not have dynamic_opinions or dynamic dialogue. You need a current unstable release for that.
