Hi! First I have to say "Great job modding this game!"! Fantastic work! I have had a great time tweaking all the relevant externalized data to make the game environment more to my tastes. I've re-done all the pick-lists & inventories and filled out the militia/enemy profiles and customized the names of factions and such in Spanish to give a more Central/South American flavor. It all works nicely.

I have a question about Facilities -- making new ones and adding events to old ones. Specifically: I'd like to make it so if a Merc is stationed at the Airport (practicing Strength) there would also be a reduction in the incidence of Pablo's stealing by a percentage equal to, say, ((Wisdom+Leadership)/2). How would something like that be done? Can you point me to a thread on modding Facilities in this manner? I haven't been able to find one on my own.

Also, on a related front, I was thinking it would cool if there was some way the Church Facility would recognize if Rev was stationed there, and there would be a large increase in the chance for good/bad events happening -- a jump up or down in Town Loyalty.

For a new Facility idea I was thinking of an Aid Station where medics can be stationed to administer to the public -- increasing Town Loyalty and using up $ for medical/food supplies.

Which brings up the question of adding items to Bobby Ray's . . . has that been externalized yet?

As well, (sorry, lots of questions 'cause the gameplay and tweaking have been totally awesome, yo!), is there a thread on constructing new merchants? I see the .xml allows for new ones, but again, I have had no luck finding a good thread with directions on how to go about doing it.

Hi edmortimer,

and welcome to the forum!

You have some really good ideas, but I doubt some of them like complex interactions between specific mercenaries, RPC's or NPC's to specific sectors or events for example are possible without changing source code and adding additional triggers and/or quests.

Regarding facilities did you know/check Headrock's HAM Wiki in particularly his article about customizable facilities yet(?):

Yes, there exist quite a few item mods for JA2 v1.13. Most popular are Smeagol's AIMNAS, Wil473's AFS or IoV:

Best way to see how something works is to extract a similar file of what you want to do and see what it is made of^^^

Thank you for the quick and gracious answers.

My apologies, I thought this was the public modding forum. I just survived the Drassen Counter-Attack -- took me two days and three different strategies but I did it!

I figured to split my forces, take Chitzena first, and when the counter-attacking forces were headed to Chitzena then i'd finish up Drassen. Well, I had to abandon Chitzena or get slaughtered, and the Drassen Counter-Attack went off without hesitation. The Battle at the Drassen Mine was epic! Whew!

Thanks for those links! They were exactly what I needed -- to be pointed in the right direction. Now to do some reading and more customizing!

Sure, I'll share what I make. That would be a pleasure. I'm in the middle of playtesting/playing the weapon progression and the enemy reinforcement tweaks, and so far so good.

I was being cautious about adding the mods to the 7435 (plus 7609) version, not knowing by reading their descriptions if they were still compatible. I've been away from JA2 for a while, and was ecstatic when I went to start it up again and saw a new 1.13! Been taking up ALL my time!

In fact . . . time to get back to Arulco . . . Thanks again! I'll read through those links and get back with you.
