OK, so I've been making some maps to make life more interesting in Arulco. What's a good screenshot program so I can take snaps of the maps? My OS is Xubuntu 14.10, running the game and map editor under WINE (works just fine). Or is there a screenshot utility included in the game?

The game can make screenshots on its own. Press "Print Screen" and the screenshot will be generated in "Ja2\Profiles\UserProfile_JA2113" or whatever mod folder you are using. These screenshots are only pictures of what you see on the screen so I don't know if it suits your purpose unless you run the game in extremely high resolution.

Thanks for the quick reply. I just want to take screenshots so others can see if they want to use the maps. Unfortunately, this old laptop doesn't have video drivers for more than 1024x768.

It saved the pics to the default Pictures folder, but all is OK. I'd upload a few screenshots to this message but my allowed byte size is 0.

You don't need to attach them to your post. You can upload the images to a free image hoster like http://picload.org/ and then embed the link in "img" tags.

Tools I use to make screencaps.

Gyazo (If you want to upload a selection)

Ctrl+Prtscreen, and then upload it to Imgur.com, you can copy your screencapture directly into the uploading tray of Imgur, so no need to use another piece of software if you don't want to edit and just put up a quick screenie.

Thanks for the tips from both of you. However, I had decided to set up a free blog and post all my tweaks and mods of JA2 up there as i make them. Right now, just a few screenshots of three maps I've modified. You can see them here: http://arulco.blog.com/
