Is this a bug in WF, 1.13 or maybe I didn't discover the method yet. But I cannot mount scopes on any gun, even rifles that I can in stable, unmodded 1.13. I have a 2x scope and a 4x scope.

I used the instructions in this post by sevenfm to install Wildfire 6.07 in VFS.

So that means I'm using 7435 that I later updated to 7609 using these instructions:

My WF game guns have no scope attachment points (I never saw any) and I don't know exactly when this occurred, but they have the other slots for suppressors (which work), rifle sling, laser sight, etc.

Someone let me know if this a Wildfire Mod thing before I go all over the Pit and spend an hour reinstalling stuff, etc. I'm also not far enough along to see if enemy guns come with scopes attached.

And of course I searched!

The WF6.07 map mod does nothing to items at all. Your base installation must be broken somehow. As long as a gun can take a scope it should always show the scope attachment slot and provide a tooltip about possible attachments when the mouse cursor is over the slot.

I did some troubleshooting and discovered that starting my WF game over and seleting the OLD attachment system (OAS) I was able to spawn a 10x sniper scope and a 4x ACOG and was then able to attach them to a sniper rifle and Colt Commando respectively.

I also tried starting a new WF game with NAS and OCTH and had the same bug, no scope slot.

Before I do a complete WF reinstall, can anyone duplicate this problem or is it just me? If it is widespread then my installation isn't broken and I've discovered a bug somewhere.

Can using VFS cause this? This is the first mod I've played using VFS. I am unclear how much data a mod shares with base 1.13 when installed using VFS, and what exactly can be broken when a 1.13 base game plays fine but WF shows bad item behavior if they use the same Items.xml.

You got it! I had reduced arsenal and didn't realize it.

I never before played with reduced gun selection! I mean, I usually play AIMNAS and I want a big selection. Is THAT what that reduced actually means anyway? Less guns and no scopes! To test I started a new game with Tons of Guns selected and GABBI-spawned a bunch of guns and rifles. Some spawned with the scopes included (SVG, AUG, M24) and the rest of the rifles at least had the slot present now. Right on.

I didn't even check this setting because I never touch it. But when I started a new WF607 game it defaulted to reduced and when I started a new 1.13 base game it defaulted to Tons of Guns.

Thank you for your help, this was a bit puzzling.

In stock 1.13, reduced gun selection option means vanilla items IIRC, there is only sniper scope 10x in vanilla data set.

Other item mods can change this, for example, in SDO mod limited gun choice means the same as tons of guns (so with all scopes and attachments) but without several dozens of rarely used weapons like similar pistols or endless AK or AR variants.

You can easily change the defaults by modifying Profiles\UserProfile_JA2113WF607\Ja2_sp.ini. It already has AVAILABLE_ARSENAL = 1 which is "Tons of Guns" so I don't know why you got a default of 0.
If you set all the defaults to your liking you will have less to click when starting a new game.

Done and done. Mine was indeed == 0, so that's why it defaulted to reduced.

I never edited that file, so that's how it must have been when I downloaded Wildfire from sevenfm. Maybe he made a few changes to files? Just something to look out for since you can't change that setting mid-game.

Looking at sevenfm's old dropbox link now, it appears to be broken. I wonder if I shouldn't grab Wildfire from the link in your sig, silversurfer, in case there are oter things sevenfm changed I'm not aware of.

The version on SVN is the most current you can get. I try to keep it up to date when new features are introduced that require changes in WF files. The only thing that is not in there is the STRATEGIC_MILITIA_MOVEMENT in FacilityTypes.xml because it isn't compatible with the last stable version and will cause it to crash.
