So here is the issue:
First I met and recruited Hamous. He showed a hat in the lower left corner of his portrait and I think (but am not sure) already a red cross in the lower right one. About the hat, I thought that must be a disguise so I pressed strg+. and chose "take off clothes" and the hat was gone. But a red cross in the lower right corner was still there, just like he was doing/receiving bandaging, as he isn't, off course. And then I noticed that my No1 IMP had it as well now. Maybe I should have reloaded right then, but I haven't, and now I realized my No1 IMP can no longer bandage himself. If I try, the red cross in his portrait will get replaced by that white helix and he'll pretend to be bandaging himself, never to make any progress with it, however. Any other Merc can bandage him in 1 turn, it seems.

And here my version info:

Version: 7435
difficulty: insane
bobby ray qualitiy: normal(1x)
bobby ray quantity: awesome (10x)
progress speed: normal
available arsenal: tons of guns
game style: sci fi
current/max progress 22/22

Does anyone have an idea what this could be?

This sounds like some mix-up of the icon picture library. Why aren't you using the r7609 update, btw?

"Is there any way to get the blood to flow up the walls?"
"I don't see why not."

If you want, you can donate to me. This will not affect how and what I code, and I will not code specific features in return. I will be thankful though.

I guess that trouble spawned after your wrong install. As I see - you are using last stable version: it's impossible to have any bugs like this, if it's installed correctly (I'm used this before starts to play on new versions. I played on this atleast 2 years and nothing never happend).
So, I recommend you tell to us how you installed this, which directory you choosed and all other things. That will help to diagnostics your problem.

My own opinion: you make some mistakes in install, but I'm not sure.
I would have guessed that there a disease icon, which system included in newest editions, but your version (edition number 7435) exlude this thing. (I'm not sure in sense of my last sentense. I mean it's impossible to get disease system in previos versions).

I'm sorry for my english. It's not my language and I never learn studied it. Games and translator were my teachers. Don't blame me hard, I'm always like to get corrected.

(just came back now. After having been busy some days recovering lost ground after reloading an older state eventually)
Thanks for your suggestions. About my Installation: If I remember right, it was the kind that asks for a location first, and I pointed it to a plain German JA2 folder. And right, it certainly is wrong for languages are mixed ub between German/English. But I don't mind that, and otherwise It seems alright, so far. And back to the issue in question, yes that is a serious issue if it ever starts to happen on me again but, for the moment I'm optimistic it's a case of should-have-reloaded-instantly. It hasn't happened again yet anyway. And btw upon replaying I remembered that I had been doing some surgery on several mercs in tactic screen in the same sector before (or maybe even right after) recruiting Hamous, that might well have been where the thing has happened. And it really was a serious Infection that had befallen Hamous and my IMP, for the first moment they would collapse from exhaustion during fitness training at the base they would never be able to change stance again and be stuck in prone stance forever, it seemed. And I also felt a bit silly afterwards because Hamous' skin colour had been perfect sunburn scarlet, and that could have told me as well that something grave had gone wrong, but I thought that was still having to do with the disguise...
Oh and about the Upgrade, frankly, I have never been bothering about upgrades but always been playing just last stable versions.

If I'm correct and rightly understand you:
1) You are using last stable version?
2) You said that: Hamous was illnest in your squad, after recruiting?

I don't know how it's possible, because I don't remember disease system in last stable version (I don't refuse that it could be changed), but, if I'm really understand you correct:
You did surgery by the Hamous or on the Hamous without special equipment (like medical mask, med. gloves etc, which lover that chances).

So, if I'm correct, you need to require good medic (like doctors in Cambria or AIM's mercenaries like MD, buy some med. equipment or found this on the map and do "Disease - Diagnosis" then "Disease - Treatment" (after diagnosis end) work.
I recommend to recruit 2 or more doctors for this. I like use 3.

Try to make surgery by experienced medics with high medic stat (80+) and aid-worker background (it's reduce chance to get infected). Surgery background don't reduce this chance.
Optional(l)y to have doctor skill, not a paramedic.
Medic always must have med. equipment like gloves, masks etc

And sometimes make prevention on disease: do the "Disease - diagnosis" one time in 3 days for 6 hours.

I always like to make IMP-medic (just my fetish), but it's your choice.

That's all I can recommend.

P.S I'm very sorry, If I'm understand you wrong, and you talking about smth another, but I hope I understand all right.
