I can confirm the crash, same happens in the Misc section when looking for mortar bombs.

This reminds me that I experienced an early crash when trying to look at the details of the new smoke (?) grenade.

@wolf00, @dk202o -- are these games that were in progress and then had the Update(s) applied? If so, it may be because there are new items of those types available at BR that weren't available at the base v1.08.

I say that because it works here. Maybe I forgot a file in the Update -- I'll check.

About the sector item drops. I have noticed, in sector south of Drassen Mine, that the items found upon team entering the sector were the same ones that I have found there at the end of the previous fight. Items that I have, I might add, since sold/used up. It looks like the sector inventory was saved on the end of the fight and then reproduced upon team rentering the area some 10 hours later.

Edit: Found the way to remove militia limit.

That would seem to be a code problem -- or possibly, maybe probably, because the Updates included new map sectors that overwrote the old ones and confused the code. However, I modify map sectors all the time as I mod and I have not run into this particular bug ever. More clues are needed!

Regarding the tropical SAM. It boils down to the issue that enemy doesn't swim, apparently. One or two sildiers get spawned in the shallows in NW section of the map, but there is small stretch of deeper water separating that and the shore.I have previously played 4870 version and mods for it and enemy always swim, though, if you position your mercs right, they are easy target in the waters. It almost looks like someone took care to avoid such behavior, modifying the AI in order to stop soldiers from passing through deeper water. I will have oportunity to test this soon.

Finaly manage dto recruit Hamus, bit Ice Cream Truk can't go to tropical SAM.

In Ja2+AI, enemy cannot go into deep water if he is not in deep water already.
The problem is that AI in deep water is mostly helpless and it cannot do anything meaningful usually.
So it's just a quickfix until the problem with AI behavior in water will be solved.

I fixed the map so there are always multiple shallow routes to shore from the shallow edges. I did Sector D2 & E2 just now, and will fix other coastal sectors in time.

I am not sure if this was changed, but Beretta shotgun is set in Heavy Weapons section of Bobby Ray's. Also, the graphic for 26,5 mm flare round is the same as for hooded crosshair sight.

Very nice mod, I played quite a bit again last week.

Here a few comments:

Installation:
- Please make a single archive, which can be unpacked onto a clean JA2 installation. It would be much easier than the current installation procedure.

Bugs with guns:
- PM 84 Glauberyt looks not correct when worn in a MP Holster
- Remington Model 51: Ammunition vanishes upon unloading (hitting the unload button in the gun description)
- Baikal MP shotgun has no image and clicking on it freezes the game
- Large holster: pistol slot is in wrong position

Balancing:
- Retractable stock/Folding stock on SMGs is too bad (nearly no benefit but too many disadvantages)
- Cat food decay modifier is too high eek
- Please give enemy soldiers some more food items (Yes I am playing with food system)
- The Santos Brothers should sell some food

Other:
- In Drassen the airport personal always just says "quote x"
- When hiring shephard, her initial speaking does not correspond to the subtitle

may-be-bug: with r357, the game usually crashes when enemy invades sector my soldiers are in. everything is ok if i play from the same pre-attack save with r325.

BR inventory crashes for me on misc/grenades/p6 to p7

strategic problem: Cambria confederados after eliminating Hicks. if i do not touch them, my reputation drops: "citizens do not like what X is doing." if i'm on tactical map, somebody starts shooting and i can kill him, but it costs considerable amount of health to one of my soldiers. and then it happens next time, and the next... to avoid it, i kill all confederados in Cambria after the first incident. so my reputation drops in all Arulco and to 0 in Cambria.

just curious: iirc originally militia was not moving freely between Cambria mine and central SAM when one of those sectors was attacked.

and is it just because "old inventary"? item description: Stiletto. Damage: 0. AP: -1. Wight: 0.5 kg. (but in game it does some ok damage.)

then there was the "angry crow" problem. crows did not fly away when the battle started. Haywire - not the surest hand indeed - hit one instead of enemy but did not kill it. after that there was red 1 on his portrait - seeing one enemy - but no real enemies around. and when he turned around to shoot in another direction, the game crashed. unfortunately i have not the save any more - but then the only solution was to kill the crow with mortar.

and last but not least - some bad people have pocketed that damn lesbian video from the chest it has always been in not sure

Thanks! Some of those bugs have been fixed in v1.08. The civilian factions who don't have speaking lines ("Quote x") will get something to say, someday soon. I'll take a long look at folding stocks and SMGs. I've tinkered heavily in the latest releases on weapon parameters, making combat a bit quicker and deadlier, but I hadn't touched the folding stock parameters.

I can't control food decay, unfortunately.

The Santos Bros do sell food -- there was a bug with the merchants that was fixed.

The "citizens do not like..." happens in the Cambria (and Grumm) residential sector. It is simply the civilians feeling uneasy that the war has been brought to their safe haven. It is a function of an ambient Facility -- there's a chance per hour of a minor incident between civilians and Mercs which is reported as "citizens do not like . . .".

As for killing the Confederados . . . that's another conundrum for the Player. Those damn Hicks got relatives everywhere!

Getting the support of the population is a lot harder in AV than other mods, and there are obstacles, such as these you pointed out, that must be overcome. Having a Snitch on town propaganda is one way of dealing with the tender sensabilities of the civilians. There are also Facilities, like the Public Aid Station at Drassen Airport Sector that raises global loyalty.

Strange question, but: how to get weasels out of chopper? Or just one Weasel?

Last time I used the chopper, Weasel was transporting some ammo to Chitzena with it. If I send him to another sector, he goes, but chopper still shows 1 passenger on board and when chopper starts to fly somewhere, Weasel drags through sectors behind it. If I dismiss Weasel, chopper still shows 1 passenger and if chopper starts, the game crashes, leaving error message:

Some people are often missing their places. Maria is not always in her room, even more strange, Dynamo is missing from his cell. Usually I have to leave the prison sector and come back to find him. In 1.06 Shank refused to talk with anybody but Dynamo, now in 1.08 he is less choosy. And in current game I still have to meet Tony. First time I visited the place, Hans told that Tony has stepped out - even before complaining about Brenda - and so it has been since then.

I'm working on Tony . . . meaning, I'm still trying to figure out what changed that he now "steps out". The NPC glitches have been very frustrating as they seem to come from nowhere and are intermittent (sometimes I can replicate, sometimes not). Tony, however, seems to have gone on permanent vacation.

I haven't done anything with Shank since 1.06 so I don't know why he is now acting better. Dynamo has gone missing occasionally since 1.03 . . . that's another thing that's intermittent. Same with Maria. She's been reported missing several times, but I only encountered her missing for the first time in my last playtest -- and still don't know why.

The Weasel in the chopper thing . . . that has been encountered before in another mod -- I remember reading about it on the forum. Not Weasel, I don't think, but the behaviour of the chopper and character are the same.

Most of my time now is trying to find out what is causing these strange NPC behaviours, but I have nothing to report. I'm as lost as anyone else.

I also heard about very strange bug with Weasel and a Jeep when using Ja2+AI with some other mod, Weasel was acting like a Jeep (or was it Hummer?)
Have no idea why this happens and how to reproduce it and what's wrong with that guy.

Hey Ed, I'm wondering: is there a second alarm switch in H13 Alma that troops can get to from the outside?

I'm trying to defend against an enemy attack, got all Mercs nicely holed up and covering the entire building. Still, the enemy is able to blow up the Rocket Rifle container without getting inside the building.

I tried, but it's not the switch in the security guard's house (what does that one do exactly?)

No. The alarm situation is the same as in vanilla -- I did not alter it.

That one is for show, it doesn't do anything.

I just checked both the AV H13 map and the vanilla H13 map to make sure I did not break anything. As far as I can tell all the map elements regarding that situation are the same. As a Player I was never able to save that Rocket Rifle, and as a Modder I have left that situation as original.

Looking at the map, however, gets me thinking it could use some upgrading in other areas . . .

Assuming the map is the same and you are not above abusing game mechanics, a spy has a pretty easy time stopping the enemy from stepping in front of the switch and pressing it happy

The scenario I described was defending the sector against 50+ troops, I actually had a Merc standing in front of the switch but there was still an explosion - possibly a bug since it didn't happen at a later retry.

That must've been it, though I thought I did have Weasel jamming all signals.. Anyway..

New query: Similarly to Tixa last autumn , attacking Balime sees Lora and Armand Ricci become enemies to both Deidrannas elite soldiers and my team. So - no "friendly" convincing Armand to open the safe - he dies in every scenario. Any chance you can look into that?

I have to admit though that I haven't checked Tixa yet to see if Brewster is neutral now ...

Hi Ed,

have you been able to replicate the crashes some people have experienced with some of the new gear? E.g. right-clicking to read up on the Mills bomb leads to a crash and Bobby Ray has become quite unstable when you go through the pages of guns and equipment..

What I just found right now is that there is a hole in the roof in the computer terminal building on sector I8 - central SAM site. I'm not mentioning it for rain, thunder or lightning but because elite soldiers are taking me under fire.. suprised
