Hey guys, gals and robots, just a small update.

A few of us joined together in an effort to keep the project going (including Gennady). PRs and bugs were just stacking up and also the work since the last release wasn't easily available. Discussions eventually lead to a migration to github, where some fixes have already found their way into master.

What's next? Besides finishing the migration and getting a clear picture (who and where are we, where and what do we want?), there are already some interesting developments that need to be finalized. Come visit, join us and/or stay tuned.

TLDR; All the development has moved to GitHub. Please direct all the bug reports and pull requests there.

Good job. Keep us updated on the progress and I'll make sure to spread the word.

Thanks! Now is a bit early, more geared to the white hat type folks (if anyone remembers that time). We'll try to get a new release out soon and that's when more publicity would help.

Good to see this project is still going.

Question, is there any built in debugging beyond using the -debug argument? Getting a too frequent crash that doesn't create an error.sav or show up in the log.

Are you using an old release or latest master? It's easiest to debug with gdb/lldb or an IDE.

If you can easily reproduce it, please file a bug and attach the save.

Last release from the previous site, gennady-ja2-stracciatella-72b4f78f387d.zip. Is there any point in filing bug reports for this version? I have another error save for what so far has been a one time crash.

Not easy to reproduce. Just sometimes after a AI vs AI battle when I hit the 'Done' button the screen goes black for a split second and it's back to desktop. It's like hitting the Quit button. I'm using Openbox and normally after a crash the resolution doesn't reset properly, as in the desktop will stay at whatever resolution the game was using. But with this one everything goes back to normal and nothing is logged.

I'm not sure, the only frequent crash anyone (everyone) recently had was the cutscene one, which is now fixed. Since you were compiling yourself before, please just try reproducing with the latest code.

Running with dbg now and waiting for a crash.

Have another question I've been curious about for awhile. Mine income is a lot higher in Stracciatella than the original game. Is this something that was bugged in the original release? For example in the original Drassen usually produced in the high $6,000 to low $7,000 range but in Stracciatella it can be as high as $10,000.

Are you sure you're comparing the same thing? It depends on loyalty, the supply, creatures and maybe more. In the only save I have that early, Drassen at 100% produces $7200.

Yes, 'Possible Production' in the strategic map mine overview. I've only got two saves to look at right now. One Drassen has a max. of $7200 and the other $10400. But I'm also playing in 'Realistic' mode so one mine will quit at some point. Looking at the total max. income for all mines, with a small sample of two savegames, it's $53,000 +/- $1000.

I'll take at the original JA2 over the weekend. It may be the total output is the same but the distribution is more randomized. Or I could just have a faulty memory:)

1.12 Gold and Stracciatella give roughly the same mine incomes, ~$50,000+ total. Looks like the original 1.03 to 1.07 no longer work under Wine or at least Wine-staging. Now that I'm curious I'll set up a VirtualBox when I have some spare time.

Two questions.

1. On Realistic mode(no bugs) should 'fear of insects' translate into fear of bloodcats?

2. Stat training. I've had Wolf(Str 85, teaching) as a strength trainer for Fox and Grunty. Grunty was able to gain 1 pt Str 71>72 before becoming unable to be trained by Wolf. Fox went from 55 > 63 and is now unable to trained further by Wolf. Is this working correctly?

no idea, this is something for the general forum.
for learning my guess would be that also the target's wisdom is important.
