v1.07 is ready for download from the Arulco Vacations blog.

v1.07 delves deeply into almost every aspect of Jagged Alliance 2. There has been more modding from v1.06 to v1.07 than in all previous versions combined! More weapons, more items, more recruitable characters, new characters with new voices, new shopkeepers with new items only available from them, more strategic decisions, more tactical situations, new patrol routes for the Arulcan Army, new garrison setup, new weapon and item lists for the factions of the Arulcan Army (Elites, Regulars & Federali), more loadscreens, more factions, more IMP portraits, another IMP voice, more individualized gearkits for the A.I.M. & M.E.R.C. characters, new map border sectors that were previously inaccessible, all maps have been reworked, more Facilities, more ammunition types, new ammunition calibres, a new camo patterned interface, and more I can't think of at the moment. v1.07 also includes Sevenfm's latest Experimental Project 7 executable for r7609 -- and it is a fantastic addition to this mod. The AI tactics have been greatly improved, and most, if not all, of the bug fixes from later versions of v1.13 have been rolled into this executable. As well, Smeagol has graciously allowed me to use his STI artwork for some of the new weapons and items - and his artwork is probably the best in the JA2 universe. D.G. has done tremendous work on the portraits and voice files - which bring another level of immersion to this game world. I could go on for much longer, and give details about the changes . . . but I want them to be a surprise, I would like this mod to bring a sense of newness to an old game. So download and enjoy what I hope is a new Jagged Alliance experience for you - a vacation in Arulco!

That said, I will tell you this much: Angel is now automatically recruited when you recruit his sister, Maria - they each have a salary of $100/day. Three of the terrorists - Mayhem (Annie), T-Rex (Jasmin) and Tiffany Eddie (Joe) - are now recruitable for $1000/day (you recruit them by giving them any amount of money, not by using the "Recruit" option). All of the Head Miners are recruitable for $100/day. Skyrider is recruitable for $100/day. Darrel Jr. is recruited for $100/day after the shotgun wedding. Joey Graham is recruitable for $20/day.

ONE CAVEAT:
There is an ammunition bug I have been unable to eradicate. It affects the M1918A2 BAR, the Bren Gun, and the SMLE No. 4 Mk 1. As far as I know only these weapons are affected at this time. When you unload them manually the ammunition disappears. If it is loaded and you try to load a different type of ammo into it, the game will crash. Usually this is a problem with the Magazines.xml -- but I have re-worked it from beginning to end and still the problem persists. After 5 weeks of trying to fix this bug I am releasing in the hopes that a few more pairs of eyes will see something I am missing. As of this release those three weapons are not available to the Arulcan Army, and only available to you if you purchase them from Bobby Ray's or Tony. So . . . you don't have to encounter this bug at all if you don't want to. If strange things happen to any other weapon please let me know.


Once I recover from making this mod I will detail all of the changes on the AV blog.

have you tried to sort mags in items.xml, i test some buged mags in last IOV version and rearanging mags in item.xml solved bug with disappearing mags!

Many thanks to all those who make new features for Jagged Alliance 2.

New mod + new map (JA2 map with Drassen, Omerta, Cambria etc, edited or not-it has been repeatedly ) with large sectors + two additional levels + a lot of new tileset + moving vehicles = fun for months, years. Fun with creation, fun playing this mod.

Hmm, so I think you may have randomized AIM salaries a bit too much. Henning Von Branitz, was only 5500 for 2 weeks, and same with Fidel Dahan. Seems a bit off to me, but hey, I'll take the win.

It is designed to work with r7609. It will not work with the development builds.

The Step-by-Step Instructions for a Clean Install

1) Install Jagged Alliance 2 v1.12

2) Install JA2 v1.13 Full Release 7435, overwriting all files.

3) Install JA2 v1.13 Update 7609 for Release 7435, overwriting all files.

4) Run the zPatch.bat file found in the main game folder.

4a) If you have the unofficial r7769 then install now. This step is not necessary.

5) Extract Arulco Vacations v1.07 VFS Install Package, overwriting the ja2.ini file.


6) Create a desktop launcher icon for Arulco Vacations pointing to the "ja2_7609en+AI_r236" executable, and using the included AV icon in the main game folder.
. . .
7) Start game, enjoy, kick ass.

Yes. I re-worked the entire file from beginning to end. It didn't help. What's weird is that other .30-06 weapons work fine, just the BAR ammo is wonked. I checked and re-did the Items.xml entries, and they are ok.

The salaries will take a bit getting used to -- because they are based on the characters stats. Henning gets penalized in the formula because he is slower to level up (his Evolution stat).

All salaries are based on the characters stats, ALL their stats, and then randomized up or down 9%.

So, it's a fair process without individual bias. It results in some surprising bargains, and some surprisingly expensive Mercs. On the whole, however, I lowered the overall price structure as part of modding the economic game.

On a side note, is there any way I can restore Voice 5 to the Russian voice it was in 1.06? I used it for a Russian buddy of mine, and now it has been ripped away, ruining his character.

Oh, Items.xml! I was rushed before and thought you wrote Magazines.xml. No, I haven't tried sorting them in Items.xml Hmm . . .

That voice is still available to you. It is located in your ../Data-1.13/Speech folder. It is all the .wav & .gap files named 192_xxx. Simply copy all of them to your ../Data-AV/Speech folder after removing all the AV 192_xxx.wav files from that destination folder. You need to remove the AV files, not simply overwrite them because there are AV voice files for situations that don't have a corresponding Russian file.


EDIT: Oh yes, sorry, tired from work. You also have to copy the 192.EDT file from ../Data-1.13/MercEDT to ../Data-AV/MercEDT overwriting the 192.EDT file there.

- SearchForItems: compare deadliness only when current item in hand is a gun (to allow soldier to pick up gun if he already carries launcher or knife)

This update should fix bug with AI deciding to stab too often, also AI will pick up weapons/ammo better, more effectively fight against zombies and better select gun for attack if it has several guns.
