Hello Azazel,

it's good to see some of the map maker veterans are still around. I uploaded your new Chitzena map files to your folder on Kermi's FTP so they don't get lost. Thanks for your work!

I designed this map to be a San Mona C6 replacement.
The problem is I didn't work from the original map and Angel da Silva doesn't recognise Maria when she's brought to him, I did everything by the book when it came to his skedule but the quest completion is impossible.
Any advice or help possible?

Quests have certain conditions. So either you design the map in a way that conditions match the original map or you change the conditions. For example Maria needs to be in the same room as Angel, room number 2. Lua scripts may provide some clues for other quests as well.

Thanks, it was a 30 seconds work to delete room numbers and assign room no.2 to Angel's shop.

I always wandered why people that know such things never do maps themselves.

Thanks for putting it in the repository.
However, I must say:
- the panic trigger mechanics are broken in 1.13;
- some coding bozo thought selecting random terrain and rocks and things to put together randomly in a large brush was there for nothing;
- you cannot even do buildings with smart selection method anymore, unless there's some wise ass key combination I don't know about.
Somebody please fix the editor, perhaps a new modding star is there lurking, waiting to amaze us...

Here is a map preview for a completely redesigned C5: https://ibb.co/gxduue
However, it doesn't work:
- Hans doesn't even mention Brenda and says Tony stepped out for a bit in spite of the merchant being there.-
- Kyle freezes the game if given the deed.
- Had succes with Maria da SIlva though.

Guess now I know why no modder has done this map.

The problem is that when the map was changed the MOD_SETTINGS.ini was not changed to reflect the changes to room numbers. Any modded map that has NPCs quests on it needs to also make sure MOD_SETTINGS.ini reflects those changes. Depending on much was changed strategicmap.lua might also have to be changed.

Hey, it's almost time for my vacation. Can someone point me to a SCI with latest additions that works being installed over 7609?
I have this crazy idea for a spaceship-like building in H8 Cambria mine, with a few goodies that you cannot find otherwise in the game.

Nevermind, found what i needed.

So, if there's any map that in the interest of playability needs to be redone, please speak up and I'll do what I can.
Otherwise, I see no reason to mod them more, the maps I provided so far are ok for breaking the monotony or replaying our game with something new on the table.

Put all maps and radarmaps in this thread in your Ja2/Profiles/UserProfile_JA2113 and you will have almost all town sectors and all SAMs changed. Makes replaying the campaign worth it. Some of them address issues that 1.13 has created. They're not radical changes, just Arulco a little revised to go well with the changes 1.13 has made.

I need help - is there any hotkey combo to revert the map editor to its behavior when in a big brush it randomly puts vegetation (trees) that you selected?
I want to select for example 4 different trees and in an extra-large brush I want the editor to randomly put combos of them on my map edges that I would delete afterwards if they're not artsy enough.
The new editors don't do that anymore. And it's one of the worse things coders have changed, and without asking or documenting anything.

And precisely why the new SCIs don't include a valid map editor anymore?

I never used the method you are describing (sounds cool), so I haven't noticed any change. Looking into SVN-Changelogs, I don't see any changes made to MapEditor. But I'm no coder, so there may are changes to other stuff that have effected this, dunno. I can only image some collateral damage, but can't see any intention for changing MapEditor.

If you are looking for a SCI with included MapEditor, take a look here How to get: latest 1.13, 7609, feature-descriptions and more

The SCI provided by me (second link) and the one from polish forum (third link) include the MapEditor.

All I'm doing for this, is to compile it following Haydents Guide. Before upload, I usualy do a quick test if it can get started, placing random walls and mercs, etc. No in-depth test.. Last one I used for actual work, was the one from r8955, for what I've been working on it worked as it should. But I don't use any hotkeys and no random placement (but I'm curios, sounds interesting).

Don't know, if you work with ja2set.dat or ja2setdat.xml, but maybe that's worth a look? (Just a guess)

Thanks, Kitty.
I installed 8971 from your mediafire link and had a look at the editor.

There's nothing nowhere saying how and why this option of the editor doesn't work anymore. Fact is that for terrain you can still select multiple tiles keeping shift pushed, and it does blend them acceptably in a large brush. Last time I used the tree-combining procedure was back when I used to work with The Scorpion on RR, and the editor was done by Kaiden. Nowadays the editors just place the first-selected tree in a density regulated by that percentage option. That is too bad, it was a very useful feature.

Just in case someone is interested, to randomly place trees for example you have to push shift+R.

I discovered it by accident, trying to make treetops disappear with shift+T. And boy, I was happy...

Added a town in no man's land. It is a ghost town, uninhabited. Rumor has it that it was the birthplace of the poet Julian Mubashir Sagar, the greatest Arulcan poet that ever lived. So, the people used to call it Sagarmantha, but nobody dares to speak of it because of the cruel fate it had.
