Can someone explain what means "no support for NCTH"?

It means that you can only play with OCTH.

Quote:
Does that mean ignoring all settings under "Stance Modifiers" section in pic bellow:

Yes and all other NCTH related tags.

Quote:
Another question I care even more about. May I not also set aim levels for every weapon? Or is setting the number of aim levels part of NCTH too?

In OCTH, aim levels number is calculated from weapon type, used scope and shooter's skills. You cannot control it directly using tags.

Does the destruction of buildings affect the mining income or use of certain functions? I'm just wondering if accidentally blowing up a hole in the wall of one of the buildings at the Dam facility will affect my mining income. I assume that is true of the oil rigs when they are detonated?

Unlikely Cerhio, unless either miners or civilians are injured or killed in that sector, even more so if a head miner is killed which is possible on some of the oil rig maps. The Dam is unrelated to the mines, but again could affect town loyalty if a civ gets caught in the explosion.

There is no intro in Vengeance, so something is not right. Ensure you are playing with the Vengeance's own exe.

I'm not sure if a German install would affect things either even though Vengeance: Reloaded started as an English translation of the original (German) Vengeance mod. Someone else should be able to clarify this.

Hey,
is the fortification feature ingame?
I tried to use the shovel in building mode to get some sandbags but sometimes, in the bottem left corner, the game says that XY had to stop removing a fortification.

Sandbags do work, just not the advanced fortifications (using junk and rubble) I had that same warning come up too, and posted it on Flugentes fortifications thread here but didn't get a response.

http://thepit.ja-galaxy-forum.com/index.php?t=msg&th=19975&goto=351320&#msg_351320

It's more of an annoyance than game breaker, I just found I had to click again or reposition my merc or that warning text appears but he still builds anyway.

Didn't the game end and play the winning quotes afterward? It's been a long time since the final maps and pathways were discussed and completed. I've had to go through a number of old discussion threads to clarify if travel to the last locations were two-way. Originally they were only one-way at least once you are off the island. You could try and back-track your steps with the teleports you used.

Indeed they did, but at that point I realized I wanted to explore the map a bit further and complete a few more quests. So I resumed back a few minutes in time, in order to save officially winning for later happy

And thanks - your solution worked!

A problem I have:

Two of my mercs got food poisoning at some point, and it got way out of hand. Now their health bars are nearly completely green at all times, and their condition will worsen (terminally) if left untreated. I've managed to keep them stable by employing a small team of doctors who tend to these two patients 24/7 in-between sorties. The doctor activity eats up medkits at a fairly rapid clip, and sometimes I'll have one of them inexplicably use up some silly amount like 10 medkits in a few hours or so.

A weird phenomenon that happens is that one of the mercs will occasionally go into a coma, drop down to around -100 health, and have a really weird health bar for a while - although this state eventually resets.

With other mercs who got slight cases of food poisoning, they were able to go into full remission using an antidote or having a doctor look at them for a day or two.

Should I just accept the situation, or is there a way to cure severe cases of food poisoning like this? My theory is that if I'm really patient and have them sit in base for a looong time, they will eventually be fully healed. The reason being that the condition does seem to get slightly better over time if treatment goes on without interruption - although it's a very slow process. So far, I haven't had the patience to try that.

Hi All

Ok so this will be a total sucker question which I'm surprised to seem to be the first one to ask (on this forum?), buthow can I get to the Island? This is the first topic I've found that names it (Palaccio Island?).

I've been looking for way too long but can't seem to find the trick. Did I miss some important NPC? I found a clicky thingie but it just makes my IMP curse... I should add that I've been having some problems that force me to play the game windowed, making it impossible to fast travel south from within sectors.

Thanks a ton as I've been trying to finish this mod for what seems like forever since I hit this wall...

There was for quite some time a meandering path to the island in Malino bay (sometimes referred as Malino island or Palaccio, but that's just reference to the Palace there.)

Everything works exactyl like in vanilla until the end of the quest, after you bring her to Angel, get bla bla bla, kevlar leather and useless deed, Maria gets auto recruited (unless you interrupt it like it says up there). Went through that 3 or 4 times with no problem, so can't really say what is the problem, it works flawlessly for me big grin

No good for me. I can get the quest ok - BUT once I bring Maria to Angel and get his dialogue, he gives me the deed and leather jacket and his dialogue screen pops up again - it doesn't matter how I talk to him, direct, friendly, threaten - or even just close the dialogue, the game just hangs (infinite clock).

So I've not bothered with the quest. I assume the deed has no use because the guy from vanilla in the tattoo parlour isn't there. And from what people say, Maria's stats are useless anyway. Perhaps more to the point, if I recruited her, I'd need to keep her clear of San Mona or I'd upset Kingpin? At the moment, I'm relying on the $10k from the Kingpin fights every couple of days, so I don't want to do that....

There shouldn't even be a deed in newer versions of VR, unless I remember wrong, so maybe try reinstalling it with some newer version, if it is save game compatible, Seven or Hawkeye should know better. I did have occasional problem with that quest, such as game hanging/crashing at that moment, but saving before talking to Angel helped, it always worked by second try at worst cheeky If you do get Maria, she shouldn't be seen by Kingpin guys, but other mercs don't have that problem, so you can keep doing fights, visiting Tony or doing anything in San Mona, just keep Maria out of those Kingpin controlled sectors.

Some of the PCM behaviour or any Vanilla's characters who have interactions changed can at times be a bit flaky. It can sometimes be even due to where your merc stands when talking to NPC's. Here's the notes from Schein that came with the install;

Maria, automatically joins the squad after having met Angel.
Like Skryider, there's some time between the end of the quest and her joining the squad.
After having talked to Angel, Maria will leave the leather shop and, once standing on the road, join the player's squad.
In that time between the end of the quest (history log beeps) and her joining, the player can go to the strategic screen if he doesn't want Maria to join the squad.

I don't know if this is the problem or not - but if Maria and Angel cannot walk out to the street (for example, a character is blocking the door) then you will get the endless clock.

@ edmortimer - I don't think that is it. I got the endless clock previously with Kingpin not being able to leave the bar after the fights 'cos one of his henchmen had blocked the door. So I know to avoid that now.

@ LatZee - I don't know if there is a deed - or even a leather jacket - I am just going by Angel's speech. I can't get beyond that to see what he gives me.

And I only installed last week so assume I have the latest version?

It's been a while since I recruited her, but I had no problems, but it was a while ago so don't recall how I did it now. As far as I can recall there's no deed needed now and as mentioned earlier Kyle has left Arulco. Schein can probably clarify, he's been around the past week or so.

So - am loving the mod but having a couple of problems (I've been away from JA2 for a long time, so some of this stuff may be old news to others - apologies if so).

Minor issue - Morris is now one of the 'Most Wanted'. Encountered him in that Salinas sector where the captured militia are being executed and he was immediately hostile. Killed him and cut off his head. Got a 'generic' head. Happened to revisit the same sector a day or so later and there was a second generic head just lying around. Picked it up. Carmen doesn't want either head when I try to give it to him. Is this right or was I supposed to do something else with Morris?

Bigger issue - tanks. I had not realised the enemy had tanks which can move? After taking Alma and training militia I had a squad explore the areas south of Alma. Encountered a few enemies, won the battles and returned to Alma with dropped guns so I could sell to Tony. A day or two later there is an enemy force detected in one of those same southern sectors I had previously explored/cleared. I go to investigate and discover they have also got two tanks!!

Is this supposed to happen? It is a real pain because I am only surviving financially by selling stuff to Tony. If tanks can move into areas where they are not initially encountered it means that a) I am going to have to spend cash I haven't got on LAWS just so I can get to Tony to sell stuff - and I am going to have to make sure Grizzly (my only heavy weapons guy) is always along for the ride....

Following from that, it was clear that tanks I met were on their way to help re-take Alma. Are they able to enter these town sectors? If so, will the militia I have trained be equipped with LAWS - or will I need to babysit them?

Questions -

1. Even though I was able to clear Salinas, I didn't train militia there. This was partly because I never managed to get loyalty up to a level where I could. But now I have realised that Pacos is where I expect him to be - just at a different time. So completing that quest should allow me to get loyalty up, yes?

2. If the Hale and Burton guys are the equivalent of the Hicks, then going and wiping them out in that sector NW of Salinas will also raise loyalty? I have already visited and met Babyface - will taking on the Hale and Burton guys make him hostile? (I know some have said he is the best recruitable NPC in the game, but I do not care - at $2k per day I am happy to toast his arse).

3. What is with the Indian(?) guy in the Salinas farm sector who has to clear out the cowshed? Is there a quest here? I gave him a shovel but that wasn't what he wanted.....

4. I don't see how I am going to move on to take other towns without first re-taking Salinas and training up militia. It's a long, long way around otherwise and visits to San Mona for the Kingpin fights/to sell to Tony are already longer/using up more petrol than I would like because I cannot drive through Salinas now that the enemy have re-taken it (and yes, I am using Cobra as the driver to keep petrol use down). But as there is no mine in Salinas I don't see how I am going to be able to afford it either. Any suggestions?

5. Related to the tank issue above...I have never bothered with mobile militia, so am not sure of the mechanics. If I train them, are they actually mobile (i.e. they wander around map sections I have visited at random) or can I park them at strategic road intersections to keep these clear of tanks?

Thanks for any help.

ETA - and another thing, just out of curiosity....

I am sure I am not imagining this - was something done with the chance-to-hit mechanics to make elites have better evasion? Asking because I am finding that mercs with high (85+) and really high (95+) marksmanship suddenly cannot hit a barn door when shooting at an elite. This is true even where they have a clear shot at normal ranges and with unchanged weapons (i.e. the same weapon they usually use and where they usually hit).

Glad you are enjoying it, Past caring,

I'll have to be brief as I'm short of time so will comment on what I can for now.

Morris - That sounds like a bug, one I thought had been fixed, so will have to look into it. You should have got a Morris head afterward.

Tanks are more prevalent in Vengeance, though not sure they were set up to respawn. You may find things easier if you can get MLRS support and there are a some heavy weapons cache's around. I'd certainly be keeping Grizzly on your team after taking a few of the early sectors.

1. Salinas is particularly hard to gain loyalty as it's linked with a few quests. I've still yet to experiment further to see if this needs changing.
2. Though Hale & Burton use the Hicks slot they should be considered differently, they are generally better equipped. You can talk to Babyface for more info regarding loyalty, I believe he looks out for his own interests but can't remember exactly how he reacts to factions, most RPC's tend to have their own unique faction so you can at least talk to them in a fight.
3. Rajeev is linked to a quest, you won't know more about it until you speak to another NPC in another town. Rajeev's quest is also one that affects town loyalty in Salinas.
4. I'm in similar situation in my playthrough, and just avoiding Salinas after a few hit and run exercises and med supply raids but that is also because I've avoided a lot of quests too for now. At least some of the town boundaries have expanded which makes travel quicker to some degree, though I am also noting Salinas is a big strategic obstacle as it stands right now.
5. Do a search for mobile militia elsewhere on the forum, as far as I know Vengeance hasn't changed this behaviour from 7609.

5. Set manual militia restrictions - green means can move, yellow means can move in but not move out, red means cannot enter.

There's no difference if you shoot at regular or elite. If you have a clear los to enemy and he is not moving, you can hit with a good CTH (if you have decent weapon and marksmanship).

Another question; I recruited Sandman and Joey. After taking Drassen I left them to work in the mine to improve their strength - and forgot about them (they are still some way off being useful). Anyway, on checking this morning Sandman has managed to 'acquire' a $10,000 silver nugget. thumbs up suprised I know he has the thief trait, but still.....is this working as intended or something wierd?

He probably didn't find a single 10.000$ nugget but several smaller ones which can be combined into a larger one. You can also walk around in a mine and collect them manually. This is no different from default JA2 1.13. I believe the max value of such nugget is 10.000$.

I played JA2 when it came out - and many of the mods since, so I'm aware of exploring the mines and finding the silver nuggets. I'd explored the Drassen mine when I took the town on day 2. I'm now on day 21 and moving from Citzena/Oronegro to attack Salinas...

Sandman wasn't recruited until day 8 and I've just left him working in the mine to bring his poor strength up. He definitely didn't have any $10,000 nugget when he started and I'd cleared the mine out. Never seen this before, not that I'm complaining. big grin

Sandman has a Professional Thief background (<scrounging> tag) so he randomly steals some hidden valuable items from sector. Local people may not be happy of that though.

Do you like to know the mercs following in your party?
Open the file.
If not, don't open it.
The next would be Miguel.

Hello Folks,

Needs some help on proceeding. I just finished clearing out the first sector, and I can't find Fatima (or the other person who waits outside her abode) to trigger meeting the rebels. Before I forget, I love the new features. They're great!

It's been a while, but I'm not even sure you need to talk to Fatima any more, just make your way to where the underground rebel base was in Vanilla, which can be accessed by entering via the cellar steps in the building at the very NE corner of A10.

First, thank you and Sevenfm for updating the .exe. I have it installed now.

In terms of getting to sector A10, the game won't let me.

All enemies have been defeated, all buildings and their rooms have been entered.

The enemies' corpses have been looted of what my squad needs.

I have walked to the ends of every road and waited.

Nothing is triggered (that is, no icon changes and no "beep" effects to notify me to read a note).

When I go to the Sector (Map) screen, and double-click on A10, nothing happens when I either press "Esc" nor when I press "Enter."

Thus my reasoning that I still needed to speak to Fatima, yet she doesn't appear on the map. Or, if she *did* appear, maybe she was killed by errant bullets? I doubt that even in vanilla JA2 that she's produced at the start of the battle. More likely she's spawned after all of the enemies have been killed.

So, I'm still stuck in sector A9, and that's with my using the new .exe.

Could you tell me where my Save files are at for...
...my squad?
...their inventory?
...my supply order for Drassen via Bobby Ray's?

I'm asking now in case the next piece of advice to leave sector A9 doesn't work. If it doesn't, I'll back up those files, uninstall everything, and reinstall everything afresh, and see if that will allow me to proceed out of the area.

Nevermind - miracles HAPPEN. I figured out that one has to set in the travel destination into the left-most squad information interface. Clumsy, but I did it. I'm leaving this here in case anyone else has the issue in the future.

Question:

Now that I'm in A10, and we've defeated the enemies there, I've noticed that when I'm close enough to the rebels, I can issue them orders via a dialogue GUI.

"Speaking to" them only brings up this "Issue Orders" GUI. Does this mean that I do *not* have to initiate a dialogue with one of their leaders in order for us to cooperate and work together to free the region?

EDITED additional question...

I guess to refine the question further, do I need to open up a line of dialogue with any of the rebels to startup the mining operations, and make "macro" scaled decisions? Real life makes it hard for me to remember what some of the .ini options were that I made in the past few weeks. I'm pretty sure that I stated that in order for the rebels to accept me, all that I need to do was free up the first sector of Omerta (A9). Can't recall for sure though. That's been done, and I just liberated A10.

I'm ***REALLY*** enjoying how this plays. Nail biting tension the whole time. Again, thank you for your hard work and generosity.

Those rebels act like Militia, they are friendly forces which you can command in combat with basic verbal commands, if you are close enough to them.

Non-player characters and RPC's generally have individual names that you can talk to using a different dialogue box as in Vanilla JA2. If you want to gain mining employment you'll need to talk to the head miner/oil rig foreman. There is an ini option covering head miners, you can either speak to them and they run the mine automatically like in Vanilla, or you can recruit them as RPC's then assign them the task of Mining Foreman to oversee works. The second, newer option also makes them able to be used as a playable character, even in combat should the mine be attacked, or if the mine is tapped out at a later date.

Most of Omerta has been obliterated by the Queen's forces, so there are next to no facilities remaining and you will be unable to fortify it like other towns. Only some of the hardiest of rebels remain, most of their numbers hide in the inaccessible mountains to the north or underground. It's better to try and make a stronghold elsewhere.

Thank you for the graciously detailed tips, Hawkeye.

I have another question in regards to being able to shoot down from rooftops. I've had mercs atop of flat-roofed buildings, with clear line of sight to targets that are very close, yet I can't get them to shoot their weapons at the enemy. I've searched through the keybindings over and over again, and the only thing that I can think of to target an enemy on the ground level is to press "Tab," it then allows me to "invest" action points into aiming to shoot at the ground target, but even when it allows me to do this, my merc won't actually shoot at the target.

Is there a keybind that I'm missing?
