I have been thinking about this a little bit, and I think I have found a solution to my main issue with this game: Being rushed all the time. I don't mean rushed as in zerg rush. I mean the game puts you under a lot of pressure to conquer 80% of the map really early on just to unlock basic features. You have to go all the way to Balime to reliably get a car, which is impossible to reach without taking out the central SAM. If you want to use Estoni, you also have to conquer the NW SAM. Boom, you have most of the cities conquered just to get decent use out of your heli and your car.
Long story short:
- Dave has the Hummer, which can go off-road and he can give you fuel. Thus in addition to providing you with mobility and logistics support, you get additional bonuses.
- Jacke gives you fuel once you free Tixa, awesome
- there are no other places to buy fuel, because it is rationed in the country, so if you want to use your vehicle, you have to conquer and hold estoni or balime, which both are quite close to Meduna.
- make an early vehicle reliable available early on in the game.
- make fuel available on BR's (obviously this would be expensive, but usually money is not really an issue)
One way to solve this would be to relocate Hamous to be somewhere fixed or at least along the road between Omerta, Cambria and Drassen.
Another way would be to add another car. Maybe one of the wrecks that we already have as static sector inventory could be used or maybe there's already a car from another mod. This should be a basic vehicle without off-road capability. Unless vehicles are hardcoded to have 6 seats, this one could have only 4.
I feel this would allow you to play in and around Drassen without feeling an unnecessary rush to make it down to Balime / Estoni.

So, following this idea, i changed the script randomizing where Hamous appears and made him always appear at D9. For those interested, here it is (in Scripts/StrategicEventHandler.lua as Flugente indicated). Don't try to put him in a random sector, you will be notified he's there but won't appear in tactical. I guess his location must be set in the map editor or something like that.
