Hello everyone, i'm new here and just got JA2 and downloaded the latest 1.13 mod separately+the patch. When i start up the game i get horrendous frame rates and stuttering on all of the menus. Is there any way to fix this? Thanks in advance.

What helped me a ton was running this on DXWnd. You might have to tweak these settings depending on your system. Using DXWnd prevents the game from locking up when you tab out for too long, increases performance, removes the need for switching the entire desktop to 16 bit mode on Windows 7 and under, and seems to desync the audio and video for the Sirtech logo video and causes it to lag for some reason (but all other movies played are fine). Set the game to run at full screen in ja2.ini or adjust however you like. I find it works better when I want to play in windowed mode to still set the game to run in full screen and make it windowed through DXWnd instead.
Config file
To use that file you have to import it into DXWnd first. Can't just insert it into the folder. It will automatically hook to ja2.exe as long as it's open while you launch it. No need to launch it through DXWnd. Lastly, don't forget to change the paths to your actual JA2 1.13 install.

Hello everyone. First of all congratulations for the great work on this game. I would like to add that i faced the same problem as a win10 user and seems that imageCFG have somehow reduced the freezes by a lot but not completely. I can say around 80%. But i face another problem now. I have finally conquered Drassen but when i give the wine to
father Walker he wont take it (says something like: i have no need for possessions) although i chose the crepitus option, which i like very much. Does that mean they wont appear any more? And second i cant train classic militia, i dont want mobile one because it facilitates the game. It tells me i dont have enough resourses and i have more than one million dollars (twicked that on purpose). What am i missing? does it have to do with the freezes or that i used imageCFG? how can i make father Walker talk to me about the creatures and how do i train militia in town? It wont even let me staff the A.C.A. building because my mercs dont have either enough leadership or wisdom. (my current best merc has 50 leaders. and 65 wisd.)
thanks a lot in advance. hope you can help me resolve.

Hello
If anyone has a problem with low framerates on any Windows, then should apply our overlay, which is solving this.
https://jagged-alliance.pl/plik573/
"With this overlay, you will be able to play smoothly and without any hindrance to any part and version of Jagged Alliance, on the latest Windows 10. This project also helps with Windows 7, 8 and 8.1.
INSTALLATION GUIDE
1. In the main directory of your game, from the "Data" folder, delete the file named "Intro.slf" .
2. Download the overlay and all its files, copy and paste into the main directory of your game and launch the exe file of your version of JA.
In case of further malfunction, the following points should be continued.
3. Compatibility mode of the main EXE file of your game, set to: "Windows Xp (Service Pack3)" .
4. For JA2 Wildfire, you need to manually add the registry key. To do this, run the "JA2 Wildfire - Windows 10 Registry Serial file."

Thank you for the reply. That resolution is truly better for the eyes compared to what I used before.
But after copying the dll's Starchris mentioned I see a flashing white small box near the right corner of the screen for some reason. Its flashing often enough to be distracting. I think I will try to play without any of these dll's and see what happens.
Edit: When copying the original dll's the white box is gone. But when I am not using any dll the white box appears again. Did anyone else encounter this problem?

Bob, I had a timer lockup tonight (I think?). (music kept playing, game was non-responsive).
I was on strategic view, had just loaded 6 mercs up in skyrider and gave him a destination.
Half way there, forces invaded a sector which I had mercs in.
Red screen came up and I clicked the button to enter the battle, it *immediately* froze. Music kept playing but I couldn't click on anything, had to force close.
That's the first one in a long, long time. Rare event, and with skyrider being buggy still since the new SAM code was put in I'm not sure what went wrong. Pretty sure it was a timer thing since the music kept on playing, though. Didn't give an assertion.

The only time I see little glitches is when running full screen, upon startup, sometimes certain windows OS things will stay on top of the game. Hitting the windows key to bring up the taskbar, then clicking the game again, sorts those out for me.
I've been running without random freezes for a long time now with Bob's exe. I have the 3 wine DLL's in the game directory and I applied the registry fix (note you need to change the game path in the .reg file to match your install directory, before you import it.)
I run the game on custom resolution 1400x1050 on a Surface Pro 4, works great and I can see / read everything. 1920x1080 is way too small and the display's native 2736x1824 is riiiiiight the hell out.
Found the problem. Its a sort of incompatibility with f.lux. If I close that before starting the game, the white box is gone.

Man, since I didn't had the CD-ROM anymore I decided to don't crack the game and bought it on Steam. But I bought JA2-Wildfire with Classic JA2 has a DLC. I already had 1.13 all set up with Arulco Vacantion in the Classic JA2 from Wildfire until I realized my mistake (there is JA2 Gold on sell). Thing is... I'm running the game on Win10 with absolutely 0 problems without patching anything for compability (not even on the Properties 16-bits/WinXP). No red errors, no graphic glitches, no freezes or lags... just perfect. It made me curious and I downloaded a JA2 Gold cracked just to test out with the same 1.13+AV, and I did get some red errors and the game runs wonky, kinda laggy. I didn't pushed it foward and kept playing JA2WF-JA2classic. I don't know if Steam version of JA2Gold is the same I downloaded and if it works good, but for me the JA2Classic dlc from Wildfire is not only cheaper than the Gold version but also seens to run better.
Am I missing something here from not using Gold with 1.13? It seens everything is all right to the point I do recommend to buy Wilfire+JA2Classic for a Win10 run instead of JA2Gold.

AJ1 wrote on Tue, 29 May 2018 08:05As best as I can tell, JA2 Gold isn't on gog.com
I do own JA2 gold on gog.com and as far I can tell, it's still there:
https://www.gog.com/games?sort=popularity&search=Jagged%20alliance&page=1
(Maybe that it isn't listed specifically as Gold version on the store page? To my knowledge, it is exactly that anyway.)
The so called "stable" is an old, long unsupported side version that do have critical bugs, and thus should only be used with sevenfm path, with or without his experimental AI upgrades.
Recent development builds are very stable and virtually bug free, and most importantly, contrary to the old "stable" are actively supported so discovered bugs have chance to be corrected on relatively short notice (days to weeks to a month, depending on weather).
Unfortunately, sevenfm AI is not part of the main trunk, and is only available for the old "stable" build.
TrentL wrote on Sun, 23 April 2017 18:37a fix for both full screen and windowed mode at the same time use this as the reg file (adjust the path before importing into your registry!)
Toggle Spoiler
Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00
[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\AppCompatFlags\Layers]
"E:\\ja2\\ja2.exe"="~ DWM8And16BitMitigation 16BITCOLOR HIGHDPIAWARE Layer_ForceDirectDrawEmulation 8And16BitAggregateBlts"
[/pre]
This is a merge of the options from both .reg files and my preferred solution as it works without additional software.
Long time lurker, first time poster... I think... it's been a long time
I tried this regedit and the game seems to be more stable when alt-tabbing, true. However, when I return to it, there's massive flickering, as if there's something behind it. Any idea if this is a normal "side effect" ?
