I've watched a couple of videos on YT and read the description for tripwire networks, but I can't quite figure out how it works.
Are there any step by step tutorials?
So far I can attach a piece of tripwire to most grenades, but not claymores. According to a post in response to a similiar question, claymores should take tripwire. (can't post link)
Quote:
Regular mines are not activated by tripwire.
Only items that have flag set in items.xml are activated.
For the stock 1.13:
M18 Claymore
Tripwire Stun Grenade
Tripwire Tear Gas
Tripwire Mustard Gas
Tripwire Mini Grenade
Tripwire Grenade
Tripwire Flare
Tripwire Smoke Grenade
I know you can't attach it to dynamite or plastics. In the YT video I watched there was an overlay that showed the tripwire and explosives network, but I can't figure out the hotkey.
I've tried all of these (minus the metal detector) for merc planted bombs (from this link can't post link):
Quote:- Display bombs/mines/tripwires planted by your team
Red is for bomb/mine, yellow is for tripwire and orange is for both at the same tile.
o ALT + END: only display as long as the hotkey is pressed
o ALT + SHIFT + V: toggle permanent display on/off
- Display ALL (also enemy) planted BOMBS / MINES / TRIPWIRE when the selected merc has a metal detector in his hand
o ALT + DEL only display as long as the hotkey is pressed
o ALT + Shift + C toggle permanent display on/off

Read the feature description:
http://thepit.ja-galaxy-forum.com/index.php?t=msg&th=19804&goto=303205&
Plant tripwire network using the same settings for level/network.
Plant tripwire activated explosives like regular mines on tiles adjacent to planted tripwire, in stock 1.13 you can use tripwire grenades for that or claymore.
If someone steps on a tile with planted tripwire, all connected tripwire tiles will be activated and connected grenades/claymores will explode.
You don't need to attach tripwire to claymore, it's tripwire activated (see item description).
Press Ctrl+C and select needed overlay to see mines or color coded tripwire network.

To my shame I found the feature after many years of playing. When testing the tripwire flare (item1533), I found that it produces an explosion instead of light. I'm not sure if it's a bug or a feature. From memory I knew that there was tripwire flare and tripwire klaxon (flare sound grenade) in the map editor. That's why I went into the depths of item.xml and found and adjusted items 143 and 144. I started a savegame, advanced the game to 9am to see if it was available for purchase from BR and ordered. It worked fine.
