What is the variable range for the Reliability and RepairEase tags in Items.XML? -4/+4, -6/+6, -10/+10, more?

In SkillSettings.XML do the LMGS_CTH_MODIFIER, SMGS_CTH_MODIFIER, ASSAULT_RIFLES_CTH_MODIFIER, and MACHINE_PISTOLS_CTH_MODIFIER entries apply to semi-automatic/burst fire/automatic fire, burst fire/automatic fire, or automatic fire only?

Reliability is INT8 so -127 to 127 but that would be way too much to use for any item. I wouldn't go higher than -10/+10 and even that seems excessive and may cause issues with certain code. The same applies to RepairEase. Best stick to a -4/+4 boundary just to be safe.

The penalties for weapons apply to any fire mode so it's a general penalty for every merc. If a merc has the right trait he can counter the effect with a trait specific bonus. Usually for auto fire this is the Auto Weapons trait but Machine Pistols are different. Here the Gunslinger trait applies but only if CTH_MP_EXCLUDE_AUTOFIRE is FALSE. Otherwise Gunslinger only affects single shots.
