Jagged Alliance 2 Wildfire is a different game than Jagged Alliance 2. The 1.13 mod is only compatible with the base Jagged Alliance 2 game.

JA2 1.13 is a mod/update to the original JA2 game. If you haven't played the original JA2 or Wildfire yet, you could do so or you could try the current SCI (Single Click Installer). This gives you the latest game code and data available.
Just follow the installation instructions. Afterwards you can modify ini settings to your liking. The defaults are reasonable so you can directly jump into the action.

Hello Belial03 and welcome to the pit ,good having you here big grin

I would advice you to forget Wildfire until you have some experience in JA2. Wildfire has lesser resources and tougher enemies, it is a challenge even for JA veterans, It is better to start of with something easier, such as the vanilla JA2. But i better explain.....

JA2 is a complicated game, in a good way, that makes it very interesting. Most of us are playing it since it shipped in 1999. That speaks volumes for it's replayability value, made a million times better with the mods provided by the wonderful modders, Many thanks and a lot of respect to them !

I am using the JA2 Gold vanilla game (patched to version 1.12 as is, so it accepts 1.13 without problems) with the latest stable version of 1.13 7435 and it's 7609 update(2014), along with a mod called Arulco Revisited version 1.04. They work great together. I suggest to try that combo on the Novice mod, just so you can see how everything works. The vanilla game must be version 1.12 so it will be compatible with 1.13.
These 2 mods together, will give you a game with "more" of everything. More cities, more mercenaries, more gear, weapons, armor and LBE items. Load Bearing Equipment allows you to customize the gear of every mercenary under your command. The vanilla quests and NPC's are all there as well so nothing is missing, only there are more of everything. So far so good ? Moving on then......

The mercenaries are very colorful in every way. Country of origin, color, skills, traits and the most important part. Personalities. You'll love this part. Eventually you'll get attached to your favorite mercs and won't want to lose them. They get better as their skills and levels increase. They also have likes and dislikes. They prefer to work with certain other mercs or not. They might even leave if they are unhappy (M.E.R.C) or refuse to renew their contracts (A.I.M). You'll have to make teams that have no arguments. Is there are dislikes, make sure to keep the squads in different sectors. Never keep mercs that dislike each other in the same squad. Then it's the financial part. They have salaries that increase along with their levels. You'll have to train and maintain militia, pay your soldiers, maybe buy items here and there from in-country vendors or Bobby Ray's on the internet. Manage your money wisely. Start off with your I.M.P merc, Shadow for stealth and interrupts and Steroid for the Tool KIt, he can lockpick and repair. Oh, make your IMP Night Ops. These are just suggestions. When i played JA2 for the first time, i had no idea so it was a mess and i was getting disappointed. Then i started a new game with the team mentioned above and while picking my fights at night at first, the game went VERY smooth. I had found the winning formula big grin. Later on as you will be getting better weapons and gear in general, you can choose when to fight, night or day. The game will surprise you all the time. Once you get the hang of the game, try different modes and different mercs. The voice acting is excellent too.

1.13 comes with the Ini Editor which allows you to change a million variable so you can tailor the game to your liking. It will take a lot of time to play and adjust the options, play more, adjust more and so on. In general though, it's better to start a new game if you change options .

In a few words, that is what JA2 is, the 1.13 mod only makes it better, there is nothing really wrong with JA2, mods or no mods. I could tell you a lot more so if you have questions do not be afraid to ask, we are glad to help happy Also search the forums on this site for different topics and also there a lot of videos that you can use as tutorials on YouTube.
