Ok all I'm a noob at this, have done some research and have enough knowledge to get me into trouble. What I want to do is to remove guns/weapon/ammo from the inventory in the game. Once that is stable then would like to add other guns/weapons/ammo according to the time frame I'm working for. But for now how do I get rid of the guns etc without making a mess of things ???

Jokes aside, it depends a lot on the ratio of how much you want to keep, how much you want to replace and how much would really get removed in the end. But it's probably easiest to just disable stuff you don't want via <coolness>0</coolness> in items.xml. It may also be advantageous to start from a different set than the 1.13 xmls.

so what your saying is I would be better off starting with my base Jagged Alliance 2 gold ? Okay if I disable using the coolness 0 will the enemy forces still get these items?

Well, the Vanilla xmls in /Data, to start from actual Gold you'd have to use one of those exe hacking tools nobody touched in 15 years big grin
And as far as I know, coolness should disable it for enemies, though you'll probably want to rework the enemy_xy_choices.xml's anyway if you're replacing a lot.
