In another post, we finally got rid of the outdated and obsolete stable/unstable naming convention (thank you Depri) and I think that is one first step into the right direction to make this game more accessible to the casual player (Check post: https://tinyurl.com/ybbtaqqz).

For a second usability step, I'd love to update/relaunch the wiki/website of JA 2 1.13 (http://ja2v113.pbworks.com/w/page/4218339/FrontPage).
What I thought about is the following:

- Set up a fresh WordPress installation on a new domain (e. g. ja2-1-13.com).
- Add the main contributors as admin users (e. g. DepressivesBrot, Flugente, silversurfer, RoWa21 etc.).
- Start by putting up the must-have information first (e. g. latest release, download location, installation routine, important fixes, etc.).
- Consequently expand by adding nice-to-have stuff (e. g. mod overview, shortcuts, hints, new features, etc.).
- Still keep it simple and easy to browse and find - no information overflow.

Everybody's time is rather scarce, so we won't be able to do this over night and I won't be able to do this myself.
As for the first step, I'd pay the domain and host it on my managed cloud server from 1&1.
All files could stay as they are, we would just redesign the entry point/frontend for the user, so the effort needed would somewhat be manageable.

Like I said, I would commit myself for setting up the WP installation, the structure, the main design and later on the SEO.
I'd still need some other guys committing content, either whenever I'm not sure about certain steps (e. g. game's technical) and of course on a regular basis (e. g. as blogposts) to keep the site interesting and moving to the top of Google.
As Flugente already published short video clips on YouTube about new 1.13 features, I'd love to get him for the new features blogpost part.

First: Would this be ok with owner of http://ja2v113.pbworks.com?
Second: What do you guys think about this?
Third: Who would be willing to contribute for a certain part?

That would be an excellent idea, 1.13 is an awesome mod but is also one of the most difficult mods to handle as a lot of crucial information is scattered all over the place (mainly on dozens of different BP threads) while a lot of the information on the wiki is completely outdated.

I shudder to think about the number of new JA2 players or old vanilla veterans coming back after years away from JA2 who've given up on 1.13 because they were overwhelmed with the amount of options and the overall lack of accessible instructions.

This is exactly what I was thinking.
Easier accessibility of required information = more players = more collaborating = everybody wins

It would still be great if those responsible for the current wiki/website would give their feedback on this.

I've been trying to keep a list of v1.13 mods on http://bears-pit.com but as you've said, the main issue is editors and time spent to keep all the content fresh and updated.
Wiki or Wordpress, the issue is the same.

That does sound useful. Personally, while I would volunteer to write short intros to any new features I code (which would always link to the corresponding threads here), I however will not write detailed documentation on how the game itself or 1.13 (editing) in general works. I have only so much time to spend, and I'd rather code than write manuals for stuff quite a few other people around here know.

I know now that it could never work between us, as much as we wanted to, it could never be! Not because you're a rabbit, but because you're black.

If you want, you can donate to me. This will not affect how and what I code, and I will not code specific features in return. I will be thankful though.

The "PBWorks" website is still the #1 website when searching Jagged Alliance 2 1.13. Do we know who owns the site?

I have no clue who owns this website but you're definitely right, this website is top-ranked when it comes to Jagged Alliance 2 1.13 and therefore it should be given an update.

Hi,

According to the Contact Us page - http://ja2v113.pbworks.com/w/page/4218331/Contact%20Us

Looks like Madd Mugsy, RoWa21 and Sergeant_Kolja (German Translations) had access to edit it. Not sure if these guys are active anymore.
