I click the remove all item attachments at the top of the inventory screen and it removes them, but doesn't put them in my inventory, stuff like scopes.

EDIT: Nevermind, looks like some of these guns you buy that say "DEFAULT 4X scope" don't really come with anything in the first place.

Speaking of scopes, how the heck do I attach a scope to a gun? Things have changed since the last "stable" build. I might have screwed up my settings, changing the Billy Ray's stuff to Normal, so now he just never sells any gun attachments. I've captured every town other than the final town where Dedrianna is and I still don't have very good items. Also, freaking Miguel still won't join me. It just feels like everything I knew about this game in the past is now broken.

Hmm, I haven't had any problems myself; I'm playing the most recent version.
Stupid questions they may be, but did you perhaps make some mistake through editing some of the .xml files?
And what kind of scope are you trying to fit on what kind of gun? Or is it the case for all guns?
Did you somehow cheat in a bunch of scopes that are actually of the default/fixed kind? Those won't fit on any gun since they're only supposed to fit on whatever gun they normally spawn on.

I can't say anything sensible about the Miguel-situation, since I chose to be able to hire them early, after you fix the food problem.

I didn't edit anything to do with guns or attachments. For instance, I have a G3A3, an M4A1, a Steyer Aug. The only scopes I've found in the game, including Billy Ray's shop are 10x sniper scopes. They work fine on M4s and whatnot, not the Dragonov, but I don't think they're supposed to work on that.

So, I found a PSG1 which comes "default" with a 7x Battle scope on Billy Ray's, and it actually has the scope with it, unlike every other gun I've bought with a "default" scope, like a 4X, or any stocks or grips. No other gun I've bought comes with anything. But I can't fit the Battlescope on any other gun. I mouse over it and it shows it should fix on almost every gun I have, but there isn't a slot for a scope on any of my guns other than the M40A1, M24, and PSG1, not even the Dragonov which is another sniper rifle. I was kind of thinking I needed a new railing or something. I remember seeing those in a previous version of 1.13, but I haven't seen any railings in the game.

I don't get why you wouldn't be able to put that 7x scope on anything else either. That's definitely weird. I checked items.xml and it's a default 7x scope that comes with the PSG1, so it should fit on other assault rifles.
Although the Steyr-Aug comes with a fixed/unremovable 2x scope when bought from Bobby Ray, which is quite annoying actually. (If you buy one from BR, does it come with a 2x scope? If not, then I assume something weird is going on.)

Strangely enough, during my playthrough I picked up two Steyr-Augs from dead soldiers; those came without a 2x scope and I was able to fit a 7x scope on them.
(I think I'm going to simply remove these forced attachment from my game; the idea is nice but it appears to lack consistency, and it makes guns like the Steyr-Aug useless imo.)

The G3A3, however, should be able to fit a 7x scope without a problem. I just tried it.

The eastern weapons usually need PSO scopes, including the Dragunov, so yeah, that's working as intended.

Edit: You say you don't see certain slots? There's an option in the in-game menu, called Enhanced Description Box. Did you turn that on?
Otherwise you can only see all gun attachment slots when in the tactical screen.

Enhanced Description Box was enabled. I disabled it and it changed, obviously, but I still wasn't able to attach a scope. Turning back on still didn't help.

I have attachment slots for the barrel (silencers, exenders, knives), laser sight, grip/grenade launcher, a sling, and then "Internal Attachments", which I never found any. The only weapons I have that have a slot for a scope are the M40A1, M24, and PSG1.

I'm going to do a fresh installation and see what happens.

EDIT: Available Arsenal Reduced takes away a number of attachment slots. That's pretty darn lame. I thought it just reduced the advancement of higher powered guns so you spent more time with shoddy stuff vs shoddy stuff. I suppose there is no way to adjust that mid-game, huh?

If you're sure about that, then I hope that'd definitely be unintended. I hope a dev can shed some light on what's going on here.

And, no, can't change that mid-game as far as I know.

Reduced arsenal takes out a lot of items from the game. Therefore attachment slots may disappear because there is simply nothing "valid" that can be attached there. If you find an "invalid" attachment on the map because it was pre-placed you can still sell it but you can't attach it. I wonder why anyone would want to play without "Tons of Guns" anyway...

When starting the campaign, did you remove the tick from the "Tons of guns" -option? If that is the problem, my understanding is this can not be turned back on in the middle of campaing, so starting a new game is the only way.

Perhaps it's time to remove that option? ;)

Setting <BigGunList> to 0 for all items in items.xml will work in existing game.

Imagine somebody who needs minutes for each gun to decide whether it is better than another,
for that person a campaign with tons of guns would require a huge amount of time,
with player mostly doing inventory stuff due to admittely his own weakness of delayed decision finding.
I think people with weaknesses should not be excluded from games if possible,
especially for turn based which is ok to play for e.g. people with coordiation issues who cant play real time stuff.
Inventory management has drastically increased as part of the game since vanilla(not saying its bad in general),
so i think its good to keep any option which moves it into the background,
not only for a perhaps rare handicap, but also for maximum variation, adding options is good, taking them is bad.

besides i dont even know when i played with limited guns or if at all,
probably yes but it must have been in the early vanilla days.

No worries, I was only kidding. (Hence the winky face.) As one who spends waaay too much time in inventory screens (of any game), I can definitely relate. happy

I didn't want a ton of super guns early in the game. That's what I assumed that option meant. I figured reduced would mean you start off slower and then you get the best of the best towards the end of the game rather than early.

Yeah, I changed that to lower too I think. I wanted a slower pace of progress with fewer guns. I didn't want NO items or NO guns.
