I dont know about you all, but towards the end of the game, I feel like I end up using the same few guns over and over again because the enemy armor makes all lower caliber weapons obsolete, I end up using mostly 7.62x51 options like the m24/m14 EBR, SCAR H, and maybe some 9x39 options (cause of the better armor penetration). I avoid the G11 because its practically a cheat code. The game has a TON of early and mid game options, but very few end game options.

Is there anything we can do to increase the usage of some of the 5.56 or 7.62x39 rifle options ? Like upgrade the 5.56 to a .300 BLK barrel to increase armor penetration or something ?

I am also curious to know what all of you are using for end game rifles too? Maybe I havent tested all gun + ammo combos out yet.

It would be a lot easier to just increase the coolness of those 7.6x51 guns then. We already have waaay to many guns in stock, I see no need to introduce yet another batch of tacticool guns that are just slight tweaks of existing ones.

Thats an interesting suggestion. But wouldnt that make it even harder to take down enemies with heavy armor ???

Keep in mind that, like for any caliber, the tacticool guns aren't that much better than earlier ones. 5.56 ARs are pretty much all the same. 7.62x51 ARs are pretty much all the same. M21 isn't that much worse than other 20-rand SRs (M24 & M40 are garbage though).

I mean... is the AR70 that much worse than the SCAR?

last campaign (@ min item progress spd) i entered Meduna on day 58 or so @progress below 50.
While i was happy to have a single 21e, 2 or 3 M21, 3 Famas G2 and some inferior 5.56 ARs,
the silenced 9x19 guns did most of the (night-)work, loaded with AET rounds the IMPs had brought and saved for the showdown.

I haven't played this game in ages, but if I recall by endgame it was mostly 5.56 AK-108 for short range (russian ARs can mount the superior 8x scope, which makes them better) and G3/FAL/SCAR-H SV for longer range 'normal' mercs, SR-25 for snipers, HK 21E for machinegunners with a lot of strnegth (you need that 7x scope). Ammo is AP (what else?) and occasional match for short-range 5.56ers. Tracer whenever available anything automatic.
Ocassionally an athletic merc gets a rod&spring-ed FAMAS to go for those 20 AP triple headshot bursts.
Also Milkor GL with vacuum grenades.

But as that is > 3 years past, next time a few adjustments shall be made (like antimaterial rifles to take care of jeeps and shields [if the AI gets to play with those by then]) and taking Strelas along.

You havent played the game in ages??? Arent you the one creating all the new content? lol.

Didnt notice the low AP cost of the FAMAS so going to try that out. And is the pso-3 that much better than the 7 ? Ill give that a go too.

Beyond testing the stuff I code? Nope. Playing is for noobs big grin

The pso-3 is a 8x scope, thus giving you a few more tiles to see and a better chance to hit.
