Hey there,

luckily I found a JA2 forum that still seems to have an active community so hopefully anyone can help me. Background: After years of abstinence I bought the steam version JA2 Wildfire with JA 2 Classic as DLC included to appease my arisen thirst for this game.

I already recognized the following "bug" in Wildfire. I cant click on the left browser options in the ingame laptop. So when I try to click on "E-mails" or on the tab to go to A.I.M for example I am kind of blocked. I cant move there as if there would be a wall, the end of the screen or whatever. I must press "tab" and "enter" to chose anything in the laptop. By pressing "ESC" I can close the laptop to have access to the world map and there I can move the cursor all to the left but the described "bug" appears again as soon as I open the laptop.

This strange circumstance doesnt appear in the DLC JA2 Classic so I played this game until I tried to travel more west of the land like to Estonia or San Mona. The similar issue appears so that I cant move the cursor more left than Cambria as soon as I want to set a travel target for my troops. So half of the world map is blocked for me.

I started Wildfire again and next to the "laptop wall" there is the same "world map wall" when setting a travel target like in Classic.

What can I do? No one else seems to have this problem and by using Windows 7 I even dont have Windows 8 or 10 which seem to cause more problems.

Are you playing the game in windowed mode? If so you could try "CTRL" + "z" to lock/unlock the mouse inside the game window.
Or maybe you have another application in the background that has its window borders where this "wall" appears in the game? Windows sometimes does strange things to JA2.
Maybe ALT tabbing out and back in the game helps? (Don't forget to press ALT again once back in the game because it gets stuck when tabbing out.)

The game automatically starts in fullscreen and I dont have any setting in the ingame options to change it to windowed mode. Besides I am not a fan of windowed mode but as described this isnt the case here.

I just have opened tabs in my browser, but I minimize it always before running a game so it is down in the windows taskbar. For testing purposes I closed every possible application also Discord etc. but without ingame influencing success. It would have been strange if this would have been the cause because the bug should be there all the time then and not just when setting a travel target?

I also tried the Alt-Tab tipp but after tabbing in again my mouse is still blocked when trying to set a travel target more west than Cambria.

Thanks for the tipps so far happy

Not sure if its compatible but try launching the game using the INI editor. There is an option for windowed mode
