What do the floating number mean?[message #354370] Wed, 15 August 2018 00:40 Go to next message

I'm running the standard 1.13 build and Arulco Vacations and have not found the answer to this on either website : When the bullets fly somewhere between one and four color coded numbers pop up over the target(s). I gather that one of the numbers is damage and one is Suppression, but what are the other two numbers for?

I've gone through the How Does it Work forums and various other topics here and the Arulco Vacations blog (I am not sure if 1.13 added the feature or A.V., so I looked in both places)

Even Google is stumped.

I am making videos on Twitch and thought I knew quite a bit about the game to explain, but the floating numbers have eluded me for years (?) now...

Thank you for your time.

Hello,

this is from the Ja2_Options.INI:

;----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- -------
; Show additional suppression information above soldier:
; light gray counter - suppression points from attack (they are calculated and shown after attack)
; yellow - shock points from attack
; blue - AP lost from attack
; green - number of morale hit events from attack
; 0 = do not show
; 1 = show after damage counter
; 2 = show above soldier
; if SHOW_SUPPRESSION_COUNT_ALT = TRUE, current suppression points are shown above soldier (this works during attack)
; if SHOW_SUPPRESSION_USE_ASTERISK = TRUE, asterisks are used instead of numbers
; if SHOW_SUPPRESSION_SCALE_ASTERISK = FALSE, only one asterisk will be displayed for each type of suppression effect
;----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- -------

So you can also edit what you want to show up and what you don't need.

Thank you.
I don't really look / touch INI stuff. I am a firm believer that SkyNet will arise from someone making a typo in code or some bad INI settings.

Actually the real danger is in quasirandom sequences of bytes produced in various records of videofiles. Save the Earth and humankind, reduce production of videos to a bare minimum of ones that are meaning- and useful!

I'd show a relevant link but I need more messages first.
