Hello people!
I love the recent changes to the game, lots of new stuff to do. But I'm having some performance issues that I don't know how to fix.
It's been a while since I last played the game, I think rev. 7890 or something like that, and today I gave it a try to see the new changes and there was the issues:
- If I keep "show intro = true" the game freezes in black screen and doesn't load, not a big deal as I always use it on false, just forgot to change it this time.
- When the game loads, while playing I notice that EVERYTHING is in Slow-mo it seems. Mouse cursor moves slowly, my merc shoots slowly, projectile travels slowly, enemies move slowly, everything is slow D:

I know its some config that I'm missing here, but I don't know what it is. Does anyone know what I need to do?

copy files from Jagged Alliance 2\Docs\Windows Compatibility Fixes\Windows 8 Fix\GameDir to your game dir and open reg file (Win8RegistryFix) in there.

also you can play latest builds 7609 is old. download 8609 from here

make intro, false.

@ Gopas

I'm having trouble finding your original post in another thread, so if you are still reading this one I wanted to answer a bit your question on how to make Mercs who are enemies (or won't work together) get along. (Of course, by now, you may have already figured all this out and more.) As you mentioned there is the MercProfiles.xml , but what you didn't list was also MercOpinions.xml

I forget the exact process, but I know that on the Arulco Vacations site, Ed Mortimer describes quite a few things about it and how he redesigned some of the ways the Mercs got along (in the process of several of the versions). So I suggest you look thru all those pages (it is basically mentioned somewhere in the main 6 pages or so of the site that talk about his changes, the Mercs, etc.

Here is the main page to Arulco Vacations:

http://arulco.blogspot.com/

I'd personally suggest (have not checked which page it is recently) the side bar pages for MercOpinions and MercProfiles, plus Add-ons. It should be in there, sometimes a footnote in the comments at the bottom may also mention things. His Arulco Vacations thread probably also has info on it. I don't remember exactly how it is done. I believe you have to flag one entry in each MercProfile, then decide who is buddy or not in the two MercOpinion entries for each Merc, and do one other thing similar. Sorry not more specific, as I have not fully tried it yet, as I decided I did not want to mess with the actual conversations which they might say when annoyed which adds to flavor.

One thing is also helpful, if you can get the annoyed person to have his buddy in his squad and sector, he might join anyway, even if the person he dislikes is in the team.

At any rate, worst case, I know Ed Mortimer knows how to do it.

@Zedja2

Thank you for the help friend, i appreciate it happy. I have checked merc profiles and merc opinions but the numbers i know not what they represent. The old merc profile editor was easy to use. Names, who hates who, etc. I have found another way to make it work. My problem is basically Buns, who will not join - no matter what - if i have Reaper and/or Fox in the team. The other one is Mouse who refuses to join if i have Buns. Buns may join if i have Sydney in the team, which i don't really like. In vanilla JA2 he was good for his throwing arm, that's what the bio said. Now in 1.13 throwing is about knives instead of grenades. I use neither, throwing knives don't always kill , even from stealth, carrying explosives is dangerous because Deidrana's morons can see what you carry and try to throw stun grenades at you. I have lost quite a few squads to this .

So here's what i do, some may not like it but hey, it's a game and everyone is experimenting with something.

First i hire Mouse and a couple of IMP's. Go to Omerta, get through the first battle, activate cheats, add a million bucks in the laptop, hire Buns, bring her over and send Mouse in the next sector. That way i can pay both for like a year and never keep them in the same squad or sector. After that i can hire Reaper, Fox and let Buns complain all she wants. The beauty with AIM mercs is that they don't get up and leave as long as they are in contract, unlike some of the MERC morons do.

Oh, that's right, I forgot about that. If you get an A.I.M. Merc if you take the longest possible (2 weeks) hire period, they can't quit per the by-laws without your consent. So, true, you can just extend and extend 2 weeks each time, and they can't quit, if you have the money. Good idea. (It might even apply if they are, as you say, still under contract, but long ago I remember once Spider quit when I tried an extension when Buns was there, or something -- but she was not under a 2 week contract, it is listed in the AIM rules on its website, about right for MERC to quit or not in-game, so hmm, I wonder).

I tend to use, the (cough) MERC morons a lot, so I had forgotten that tactic. So Razor gets depressed and mad if he joins Flo and Biff. I tried it even when they are in other sectors, he still doesn't like it. Sometimes if you have the buddy, in Razor's case Haywire, then he can ignore it. There are other minor factors, also, but as you say if it is pure Hate, which is someone I think is inputed in one of those files, then you can't override by friends.

There has to be a post somewhere about all this. I think one of the XMLs, either opinions or the backgrounds or the MercProfiles, has the ability to change who the most hated is. Then another file has to synch with that by changing a 1 or a 0 and it has to be done for both MERCs, but on for the friend slot, and the other for the enemy slot -- that kind of nonsense which I can't remember.

I just would remind you that if you can get Ed Mortimer's attention, I'm sure he knows or can find someone who knows the way to do this right. Not sure if it is foolproof, but they had to make all those XML files for a reason.

As you say, it is a terrible shame that the XML EDITOR is not kept completely up to date to make this all as easy as it should be. It is hard to keep up with Flugente and his improvements of course. I think sometimes SilverSurfer or SevenFM update the XML EDITOR, but the constant changes in format for files has got to make it hard. Still, hard to believe it is not a high priority. The game would be much more noob or fan friendly if it got updated after every SCI, let's say. Definitely a shame. But it requires a lot of knowledge to do it, something I don't have on the game's structure for data.

Glad you found the post, thanks for reply. I had worried you might never see it. I wish we could get Ed Mortimer to somehow tell us how it is done, but the forums are so large, everybody has to focus on a small subset of it, especially modders such as he.
