Hi! My main character is ambidextrous Very Happy and I gave him the 2 modified pistols you get when you solve a quest. Do you think it's necessary to attach laser scopes to both pistols?

Those guns are nice, but when I start facing 30-range rifles my ambidextrous mercs get a pair of silenced MAC-10s.
The range is just a bit higher, the APs needed to fire are lower, ammo-capacity is higher and they can be silenced.

The other attachments:
Rod&spring make lots of sense on the Automag since it's a high AP-weapon, but I'd save 'em up for sniper-rifles.
Barrel-Extenders make as much sense, but I'd save them for other guns. (Mac10 for instance)

If you duplicate attachments then it's just the more the better...

I must admit I never played it through. I got JA2 recently. I should stop starting over again but after reading these forums I wanted to use close combat too. Very Happy

Haha ! Same here, I've been close-combat/hand-to-hand clapping/slapping myself in the past two weeks.
Started with reading a post that had the tip: have one LARGE inventory slot empty when trying to steal...
Now I restart 10 times in a row (well okay 3 at most) since I really want to have a decent rifle before moving on the Drassen-Sam.

It's fun, when I 'disarm' them (Enemies gun lies on ground beneath my Merc) they get back up with a second-same gun in their hands. (Allows for more 'salvage'/ambidextrous)
But once a BIG gun is in the sector my gready I.M.P.merc or some other poor Merc bites it hard... ->restart game. Sad

yes two laser sights would be the way to go.

However, for a real challenge use rifles and fight during the day! Anyone can sneak up on a redshirt, only a real man can have a team of 3 hold of an assault by 32 in the middle of the day.

Yup, day combat is the best.

I mean what's the point of all of those long range rifles that are liying all over the place if your mercs and the enemy soulders can barly see past ends of there noses.

Come out in the day and fight like men you cowards! :rifle:

And as far as the addons are concerned, you should modify every gun as much as possible, to make it the best gun that it can be.

Hello,

I'm new in that Forum, but not new in JA2. To modify your gun is realy important. Exepted the duckbill for the Shotguns, that's the only modification I leave behind.
@dayfight: For a beginner the nightfight is the best, sneaking around making sure nobody saw him (Waldo) an dyou can quikly rise up with your agility skill. With your modified handguns (those from John Culba) you can't shoot far, so fighting at night would be better.

disregarding the AMMO issue, i think a P-90 is better than a MAC-10, with the same modifications.
as for the rarity of ammo(p90) or steel bars, rods, springs, and any other things needed to modify (glue and tape) u can use the duplicate tricks listen in the spoilers section.
