Sorry for the delay in responding and updates. I have been in the hospital and recuperating. I have a very uncooperative heart that has recently caused me many issues. One of those most annoyingly is the inability to concentrate and memory retention. I am hopeful I will be back up and moving soon. I have all of the scriptwriters and voice talent on hold. I am still continuing with graphics work.

Update, still not over my health problems so progress continues to move slowly. Graphics have been completed, scripting is still on-going but progress has slowed due to my inability to direct them consistently. Hopeful that things will get more on track in June or late May.

Hello all. I have recovered from my health issues and all that went with it. I am just restarting where everything just abruptly stopped. It will take a bit to get everything sorted out. I am working on best way forward and have a few ideas on how best to do it. Will update once things get fully moving again.

Hello all I wanted to post an update. There are 206 fully scripted playable characters and of them 77 have been fully voiced or are with the voice actors. Each character has well over a 150 lines of scripts. I would post a sample of a few of them so people could hear some of them but have yet to figure out how to do that. The new items used in the game have been created and there are like 50 or so of them. The map is being tweaked and once the voice files go to sound production will complete the map and send it to quality checks. It is a very diverse cast and I think there are like 40 countries that are doing the voice overs. The NPC's will all be re-scripted and re-voiced after the AIM/MERC/RPC's are complete as well as the plots completed. The initial release will not have any written EDT files but that may come afterwards. This is due to the time it would take to copy and paste over 32,960 files. One question I have. There are only two IMP slots and while IMP is not the focus of this mod. I would like feedback if those should be re-voiced and re-scripted? Some people maybe tied and enjoy the voices of the IMP and some maybe open for some new voices and scripts. If you would like more IMP then you will have to mod the mod to allow for that and I went with the maximum amount of characters that could be played to add diversity and repelayability.

You do know you can export from edt to text files and import text back, when using EdtMegaEditor?
As for IMP voices, having new voices is good, and if someone wants particular voice from stock 1.13, it's easy to mod it back.

Yes, I learned that and was great for the Bio's but appreciate the recommendation so thank you! I may try to do a few test runs to see how it goes related to EDT speech files. I do want to do that as some of the voice actors may have stronger accents than others or speak faster.

Good to read your health issues are fixed, and you are back on Tuscany.

Anything new to IMPs is good in my book. Keep it coming if you can.
If you want to post some examples of character speech here, you can do it via different means. If you have the characters already in game, make a video of you playing with them. If you only have the sound files, you can upload them somewhere and put a link here. I don't know where the bottleneck is in what you want to accomplish.

This new (big) roster still feels great and refreshing! Keep up the good work. Thanks to your great cast and to your guidance.

Maybe it's time for a few teasers, if only to get other modders interested. You never know someone might even put their hand up to cut and paste a few merc edt's for you afterward.

Yes it works!

As you promised, there is nice diversity in voices. The samples are pretty good. They differ a bit in sound quality, acting and volume, but the overall quality in quite high. From what we can hear, the scripts you made seem very good and promising, by the way.

Good work!

Thank you, I agree and some of that can be leveled when it goes into audio editing. The quality of the responses and acting varies as well however finding enough voice actors to cover the number of characters is a very large challenge. There will be some characters and voices that will be redone for sure. However the goal is to get them all voiced first even if the responses maybe a bit off in terms of acting. It could turn out that some of bad ones, become quaint like a B Movie that becomes a cult favorite. I have a bad one related to a Iraqi BDU Expert and every time I listen to it makes me laugh.

After listening to them again, I have to say they are really good.

It's hard to say when acting is adapted to the character and what you wanted in the first place, like in 'Game Script 117-154 220 Sgt. Fury', where the sentences end very flat. Is it part of the character, his mood, his accent, or just the acting?
By the way, '247 Peace MERC02' is really good (acting, sound, everything).

Other that that, it's really nice to hear such colourful and diverse characters. I really would like to have them in my team, which is a good sign.

Grim, That is actually part of the fun bit. I would not myself think of Sgt. Fury that way but maybe the scriptwriter did, and then the Voice Actor tweaked it or added his flair. I think it works best to understand him if you listen to Sgt.Fury and you think of his name as ironic.

It is a lot of fun for me to listen to all these characters as they come in and we are up to 85 characters voiced or with voice actors. To show how much voice is added to the game, each character full voice scripts is about 11 minutes of speech. So if you sat down and just listed to each of the 206 characters say their JA 2 Lines it would take over 37 hours to do so. That does not include an of the RPC general or quest lines and does not include any of the NPC's. With all of the characters and scripts there are bound to be some that have mistakes, errors and such. I just view them as part of the characters charm! happy It's not a Bug it's a Feature!

Question is there interest in hearing some more samples of the new voice overs or wait until they are in the mod?

Personally I wouldn't divulge too much, but then you have a hell of a lot of new content to spoil us with when the mod is released. Perhaps some teasers of other content apart from speech files will spark even more interest, though I know you are still at an early stage of development.

I for one would appreciate some more samples of different merc speech. The completely new cast of mercs is a strong feature of the mod. If you can share a bit more about some of them, it can help forum viewers to get a grasp at your mod and in return maybe have some feedback on the good, the bad, and what to adjust.
If you're looking at more feedback on the mercs, one thing you could do is a presentation of a selected few with picture, bio and stats, along with the new speech. That way we can have an idea of the character.
Don't waste too much time on this though, you must have an astonishing pile of tasks at hand with such a huge cast.

Just a note to say Stavian had another bout of ill health last month which included hospital visits. Here's hoping he's on the road to recovery and the JA community wishes him well.

He is better, but had a scare for a while. Real life has got in the way too, and will not be able to focus on Tuscany for a while in these crazy times. He has said he hopes to pick up where he left off in the future.
