Battle Brothers - which many people consider to be the closest thing to a medieval/low fantasy Jagged Alliance - has now been cracked and the graphics and simple script files, which control almost every aspect of the game, are now editable in plain text format.
This is a big deal because BB is one of the best turn-based tactical games available on any platform, despite being developed by a team of only 3 people. With a rapidly growing modding community behind it, similarly to JA2 (although perhaps more simple to mod in many cases), it has has almost unlimited potential to represent any historical, or fictional fantasy setting one can conceive of.

The Devs issued a very positive statement saying that although they did not consent to the game file being decrypted, now it's done they do not intend to take any action so long as modders do not try to circumvent the DLC content requirements or re-pack and try to sell any of their material.
Really the best possible response one could hope for.
I for one one highly respect what the team has a accomplished and will continue to purchase all the DLC they release.
From what I understand the Legends mod team also feel the same, and will create content on the assumption that players have all the DLC.
Overhype's last DLC 'Beasts and Exploration' won several awards.
A new DLC called 'Warriors of the North' is currently under development.
