JA2 and UB separate installs and 1.13 SCI?[message #357757] Sat, 03 August 2019 19:21 Go to next message

I have the stand alone GoG versions of JA2 and JA2:UB, i.e. not the Gold version which I believe lumps them both together. When I installed vanilla UB on its own, it set up it's files and folders with just one folder called "Data". I want to play UB with the 1.13 SCI on Depri's MS drive. When you unpack this in order to simply write over an JA2 install, there are three "data" folders. One called "Data, one "Data-UB" and one "Data-1.13". So I can see it seems to come ready for JA2-UB in some form.

But my question is, if I am just copying everything over an install of UB only, do I need to do anything special with the data-UB folder in the SCI? Like rename the Data-UB folder to Data, and let it overwrite what is in the default data folder in the UB install? Doing this I would have to get rid of the folder named "data" in the SCI so this does not merge with anything? This feels like it is harder to explain than it should be happy I have played 1.13 over the original JA2 game a few times, just not attempted anything with UB as yet.

You shouldn't need to mess with anything. If you are just playing UB then most of the data you will be using will be in the Data-UB folder, which Depri's install will overwrite and update. Each exe will use it's own data folders, so if you were playing 1.13 it uses content in the 1.13 folder.
