Hello everyone,

I've played JA when it first came out long long ago and recently came across it again and started playing. Noticed the 1.13 mod and played with that for a couple of days and found out about AIMNAS and fell in love with the game once more. Nice to see that there are people that spend so much time into this game.

I encountered a number of issues that I like to address before i can actually play the game.

1) Noticed that some of my mercs (all IMP) are invisible as in only a name is seen when the merc is selected. same goes for a percentage of the enemy. The merc and enemies that are invisible can be hit like normal and their corpse will drop just like normal.

How do I fix this ?

2) I have created a new game about 10 times now and I run into an issue with some IMP mercs just leaving me as if their contract has ended. You can only select Dimiss or cancel, in both cases the merc is gone. I've no clue why or how. Morale is good and the Dynamic Opinions are all above -10. This one is an issue for me as I like to create a nice main group to play with while the hired mercs are meant for fixing stuff and training rebels and stuff. I've looked though the files for any reference to IPM and merc leaving in game folder but I've not found any setting to prevent hem leaving.

How do I prevent my IMP from leaving me ?

3) I've got an issue with planks. I can place them, but not remove while holding a shovel. I can make sand piles, place and remove sand bags and barbed wire.

How do I remove (reuse) the wood piles ?

The other tools like hammer, pick axe etc do not seems to function like the shovel

Any help here is appreciated

4) 3 of my mercs contracted Ebola (day 6). They have not been outside Drassen (B12 and B13). The queen might have used infected soldiers as biological weapon. No idea.

Changed it so it can be cured, but still hard to accomplish without the other just cured mercs getting sick once more. No idea how they got infected with it. All corpses where cleaned up right after they where killed. So not rotting there. Food system is disabled.

The gun site does not have any material, besides medic bags to prevent any infection from happening. So it is hard to cure them. And while working on curing one or two IMP mercs just leave.

any help is appreciated

kind regards

The first two issues sound like you may have a bad install. For the third, I think only the shovel does anything right now and the other tools aren't hooked up yet. The wood piles/planks should be working, but I've noticed not all planks on a map can be picked up. For disease, tweak the Data-AIM/TableData/Disease.xml file and start cutting values in half, or just disable the disease system completely via JA2-Options.ini. If you turn some debugging info on (I forget where/how) you can see how many disease points each merc has accumulated before they've broken out. Loading older saves can help you pinpoint when they were infected. Putting a mask and gloves in your doctors' inventories (doesn't need to be equipped IIRC) will help prevent them from catching diseases they're treating. Also be very strict about quarantine.

Hi Franimus,

The JA installation is a JS2 gold, latest (april 2020) 1.13 and the latest AIMNAS that I could find at the time.

Point 1:
wasn't an issue when I started playing. But came later in the game. And now it is there from the start. Just created a new group and the same merc is invisible (the first one that I created also Dimitri and a few others of the Rebels).

I'll try a new installation of everything. Would be nice if that would help.

Point 2:
Would be nice if a fresh install would fix the issue of one or more mercs leaving. This is kind of a deal breaker and prevents me from playing the game as I would like to. Want to reach the end atleast once. Never been there.

Point 3:
I got the planks when I split a large sandbag. Besides the planks I got 2 medium zandbags from that. I can place the planks, but after that I'm unable to remove it. Also bought some planks from the tools shop in Drassen. Same issue. I can place them but that is it.

Point 4:
I've made Ebola curable so the mercs are not dying from that again. But there is no way to cure/heal them with gloves and/or a facemask. The shop doesn't have them for sale in the first week(s). Would be nice if one could select those when creating a healing merc with IMP. Most medkits I've seen in my live have at least gloves as part of the inventory.

My store is set to normal with quantity at 2

As for quarantine I put the sick people in the 4 corners on the Drassen airfield map while my doc is in the middle. But that does not seems to be helping. I turned cheating on to see how many disease points my merc have accumulated. But before I'm able to cure them all one or more mercs leave usually it is my spy and one of my snipers.

As for curing I can put all the values to 0 in the xml file, cure it and set the values back to a lower number afterwards. So that should not be an issue.

Besides the above I've got a number of other issues.

In 1.13 I was able to use a knife to make rags from shirts. Turn those rags into simple bandages or use them on a bottle of alcohol to make a molotov cocktail. That worked when I tried it out in 1.13, but now in AIMNAS this isn't working any longer.

If that is due to corruption of the game I do not know how that might have happend. All I did was copying the 1.13 files over the ja gold. Played for a while on 1.13, changed some ini files to make the changes that I wanted in the game. Played some more and made more changes. And after a week or so copied AIMNAS and started playing that, also modifying some of the ini files to suit my needs.

I used the ini editor for that, might that have been the cause of the issues that I have right now ?

Found the cause of the issue of point 1.

If you turn on the "use logical bodytypes" in the options some of my mercs, NPC's and enemies are invisible.

JS2 1.12 gold, 1.13 (april 2020) and the latest AIMNAS (Latest commit 47715a9 on Jul 28, 2019) from the git repository.

I have no idea why your IMP mercs are leaving. Try disabling dynamic opinions maybe? What's triggering the options for dismiss/cancel? What's the dialog say?
For disease, there really needs be an option to make doctors immune to catching contact diseases, at least while on doctor assignment. I might get working on that tonight... I wonder if that would make enough of a difference to make stock disease system usable, or if some of the defaults just need nerfed regardless. I'd love to know of anyone who uses default disease config without running into huge problems.
The issue with the rags I've had since the last major AIMNAS item update, too (last summer? Or the summer before?). I dug into it back then but couldn't nail down exactly which item ID change broke it. First thing I noticed was not being able to attach rags to any helmets to add camo.

Well I spoke a little bit too soon, because right after I posted that I pulled from the main 1.13 repo (not aimnas) and saw a note about increasing the item limit, and that seems to have fixed the attachments problem!
I'm also now seeing the same problem with the shovel; not able to do anything at all with it it seems. I get a fist cursor instead of the camera cursor I used to get. Haven't tried the other tools yet. I thought this worked last time I played, so it might be a problem in the main 1.13 branch instead of a problem in aimnas, since aimnas hasn't changed.
I put some code in my local build to give doctors gloves/mask from their medkits/response kits (so their benefit will be based on the kit's status), even though medkit description doesn't actually say it comes with gloves/mask. But agreed that IRL even first aid kits come with gloves, so it's ridiculous that doctors wouldn't use them while dealing with their patients. Oh and I also halved the disease infection limits and nerfed the rates a little. So I'm going to try this out a little bit and see how it goes.
One more bug I ran into was trying to attach a Black Cap to a Camo Helmet, the black cap disappeared and had no effect.
