Phantom dialogue repetitions in 8796 SCI[message #361363]

In 8796 SCI there are a lot of strange things happening with dialogue bubbles. I already mentioned some of them in another thread, but they are random and will therefore probably never get looked into.

Anyway, there is one mostly harmless quirk which is easy to reproduce: Dialogue duplicates:

One merc says something (dialogue or scripted statement/reaction), with his voice sound, as usual.
Seconds later the same (sometimes a different!) merc will say the exact same thing, this time without any sound and the text box placed in the upper left screen corner ("comments and reactions" placement).

There is one situation where apparently it happens all the time: When hiring Ira in the beginning of the game: Go talk to Ira in the rebel basement and offer to recruit her: She will give you her acceptance speech, with voice, then her acceptance speech text will appear again on top left without sound, and then only Ira will say her second acceptance dialogue page (about not being that good a shot).
I've started a new game 6 times those last weeks and it happened every time.

This has been happening for quite some time . . . since at least r7609, but it does seem to be getting worse.
