That's unfortunate. It's a little like having to read the minutes of every Court of Justice verdict to know what the current laws are...
It's even more unfortunate given that pictures in older threads have decayed, and thus you often only learn there is some icon, but you'll never know what it looks like.

Thank you, that was helpful and concise.
Although I never identified that icon as being a hat in the first place (small, over noisy background, looked like an Oreo™ cookie to me), so if somebody had just told me "hat icon", I wouldn't had necessarily made the connection.
A non-volatile icon list, which will be still there in a year or ten, is IMHO really necessary. I'd be willing to make it, but right now (as this thread proves) I'm obviously the least qualified person here to do it...
