How to start is not easy. Because it's the once again. But no, it's not. No.
What I try is, to create a technical base for a JA2 related game, including a simple configuration system compilable on Windows, Linux and Mac. The configuration includes to add map, items, mercs, npc, housings and the other stuff to make it complex and divers. Sounds a bit roguelike.
At first, I do that for my own amusement. I have no ambition to lead or be a member of a group of developer. And I do that in a Basic dialect, because I do that for me. But I feel my motivation drops down. Because I rot in my own prison. The most time I spend this project is rainy or snowy. And I feel, I need to talk about with somebody who understand why and what i try to do with my short lifetime. In my real life nobody does.
There is no deadline and no ambition to roll out a absolute new and amazing JA Experience. Keep it simple. One step before the next. I don't need to build reusable stuff. I don't need OOP. That's an important decision. And I want to reach the point of no return. Because there is no end in sight.
There are so interesting things that to do. Like to realize the A* algorithm fast as possible, general AI or clustered drawing of the map for good performance, weather and lightsystem. Other stuff is also to do, most people forget that is to do. So my respect for all the hard work others done.
No image of work in progress until I left 5 messages.
Good exercise to train English skills. Hopeful I'm understandable.
