I browsed the forum and various depositories for 20 minutes now and the more I look the more confused I get.
There´s a post about 7609 being the latest, then in a two year old post it is mentioned that 7609 is already outdated and one should get 8609. Then there is a post referring to an even higher version with 8... and on the depository listed in the pinned topic the latest stable release is #603 from 12 days ago. With every single second you look you get more confused, but I guess it will eternally be so with this mod. big grin

Anyone willing to help a returning player with the usual song and dance in trying to figure out what is happening?

And 1.13 versions aside, are there currently any other noteworthy projects in the JA2 universe that one should be aware of?

Ok I think I´ll get your AI project, seems cool. So I download SCI from this depository https://www.mediafire.com/folder/v3fqk19jbsai0/SCI+JA2+v1.13 and then use the exe from your link.

wow. I'm no dummy but that guide on how to install this 1.13 mod is looks incredibly daunting...

I'm also not sure which version on steam I should even get in the first place. there's like 5 or 6 jagged alliance 2's there lol. help! happy

A little late but if you are still interested in JA2 from Steam. The Classic one is the vanilla game. The Gold Pack is the vanilla game improved and updated to version 1.12. Wildfire has the same cities but the maps are different, you have to follow objectives to advance and in general is much harder. It is a challenge mode for JA veterans, in short. Avoid that one, go with the Gold Pack and the 1.13 version mods from this website.
