When visiting Toni I saw a handgun (can't remember the name) with a green star indicating an attachment. Right-clicked on the handgun to check it out, it was a match sights, which when left-clicked became my mouse pointer. I couldn't drop anywhere else but the portion of the trading screen where I deposit the stuff I want to sell. End result was that the game started treating it as if it had been mine all along, so basically I obtained it for free.
As the title states, this in +AI modpack. Possibly applies to stock 1.13, too.
