Hi every one

i read the section about the possibility to make more than one custom merc, but i don't really understand all the steps...

maybe someone could help me, i'm really enjoying the game, but i wish to create more than one merc, and i want to know the others codes for I.M.P. or the way to have this possibility !

-In the '1.13 mod' you can create more than one IMP, this mod is required.

The JA2/data/-directory origionally contains a file: IMP.dat, it contains info on the stats, items of your specific IMP.
In most versions for new games you could re-generate the IMP by typing in '90210': this would 'load' the IMP.dat, allowing you to skip the questions.

In 1.13 a change has been made: instead of saving the data to 'IMP.dat' the file gets named after your IMPs callsign.
e.g. Bob "Butcher" Bearpit -> butcher.dat
For new games you can then enter the 'callsign'.
(If you like your old-90210-IMP, you can rename the imp.dat to a callsign-name.dat, typing 90210 will still load the last-created IMP)

You can make as many individual-profiles as you like.
But you can only have 6 individuals on duty.
(3 voices, 2 sexes: 6 possibilities)
If you have 2 mercs with the same voice, 1 of them will be 'cloned' to match the other.

In short:
-90210-code can be used to re-generate the previously-generated IMP without answering the questions.
-for more IMPs you must have the 1.13-mod installed. (1.13 contains TONS-of-guns, coming soon: Diemaco C8-CustomTactical)
- Here J.T. has some .dat-files for downloading, these IMP's come with some more powerfull guns.
(Make sure you keep track of which voices are used.)

did i just see the C8 is coming?..(raises hands in a cheerlike thrust)..only problem is..diemaco name aint in use anymore:/..its ColtCanada now..i did up a C8CT and posted my test image in the guns thread..but like i said..its a test..looks better in game than here but still isnt ready for prime time..

Oh dear.
I've think I've posted a bag that has 'cat' written on it.
Since Vehema is Canadian as well, I thought I'd post a 'national product' to get him more interested.
I assumed that it would make it ingame the next release after you gun-drawers had reached an agreement on what it should look like.

'Diemaco' 2 'ColtCanado'
Has me wondering on the C7s and C8s that the Dutch National army uses.
"Spares Programs: From initial provisioning to ongoing supply; top quality components are always available."
This statement is on the 'ColtCanada' site, since my country bought 'Diemaco', I hope for my countries' grunts sake that it's been updated: the RoyalDutch\'LandForces\'-site still writes 'Diemaco'...

i'm finding i'm getting half decent on doing up pistols but still have a LONGG way to go on assault weapons et all..so i'll hafta beg out on doing up the drawings for the C8 until such time as i'm actually any good at doing them up.. :ok:

I'm not much of a painter/drawer myself.
Requesting 'new' guns and moreso googling for pics (saving the real artists the time) can also be seen as adding to the mod. Not as drastic as the coders but every bit helps. (coders do bytes)

And don't worry, you're definitely not going senile: you wouldn't have noticed the double-ness of the post if you were.

edit:
@vehema, I've just read the 'more than 1 imp'-tread.
The link (to 'IMP patch for JA2 v1.12 and UB v1.01') that Azazel posted there works for vanilla, you'll need to update the JA2.exe
On that linked-page: "Besides, you can make more than one IMP if you wish (details on how to do it are in the readme)".

I guess you'll have to:
  1. Generate an IMP.
  2. Save the first game.
  3. Start a new game(2)
  4. Generate another IMP in game #2
  5. load game #1
  6. enter 90210 so the merc (step 4) gets added to the roster.
  7. repeat from step 2

I think the no-double-voices-restriction exists.

sorry guys to bother you again, but i have another question :

i actually use the (maybe) first version, 1.03 , created on june 1999...

can i install the patch for v.1.13 directly or i have to install all the previous versions before ?

and if you could direct me to a good site for free downloading about the v. 1.13, it will be very nice too !! Wink

DO NOT YET Download: here .
(further down: the SVN-way gets you the most up-to-date version)

Install the patch ONLY if you have an older version of the 1.13mod allready installed.
I think that you should get the full version (76,2MB).

Hope it will work.

I started the download before typing: allready at 96%: Custom-Tactical here I come.

EDIT: the file I linked to contains no C7CT, that uhm ..sucks.
I've tried the update, no change.

Finally I've submitted to using the SVN.
Instructions and download link Here .
I've followed the instructions that MarlboroMan has posted there.
-Download/install SVN (32-bit worked for me).
-Create that empty folder on desktop and assign it to the SVN.
-Run the SVN with the adress posted in the link.
-No need to enter a password.
-I've used the Win-explorer to drag-drop the files/directories to the game-folder. (1st the 'files in the main folder', next the 'data' and 'data-1.13' directories.
