I'd like to nominate:
1. Vince.
Used him once just to see what he was like, but never again. Wasn't even much cop for training militia.
2. Shank.
I keep him on long enough to get the gas deal then get rid of him. He's useless - can't even use him to carry stuff.
3. Bubba
He's just loathsome. Okay, he's strong and got better stats than the average MERC jerk, but you're better off with Bull or Grizzly.
4. Larry
Not even much good when he's sober, a state of affairs that doesn't last long after he arrives. It's a pity you don't get the option to shoot him (or hunt him down :biglaugh:

Looks like some are listing their least liked mercs as the "worst" mercs. I tend to use a criteria to define my "worst" mercs.
1) Merc who can not provide a useful service right away (medic, mech, mark, explosives, or decent militia trainer)
2) Merc who will need A LOT of training to become useful in some way.
3) (to a lessor degree) Merc who does not make me laugh (or at least smile).
So I would say:
Biff - need I say more?
Shank - takes too long to build up strength and marksmanship (although I do keep him around as a go'fer guy with Skyrider)
Gumpy - needs development and I CAN'T stand his lisp (but has some great lines)
Larry - first time he got drunk on me was the last time I hired him (but he also has some great lines).
You could almost add the Robot since it can not gain skills, reload by it self, or heal/regen it self, but it does have a mark of 80.
I note that some mercs making other's worst list still provide some use.
Flo - she makes a good cheap militia trainer
Ira - she makes a good medic and an excellent militia trainer (but her voice is too whiny)
Vince - cheap doctor and militia trainer (marksmanship can go up very fast)
Maddog - great mech, autoweapon skill, and great lines
Just my two cents
"Did it hurt? Moron!" - Maddog

I do like his Hvy Weap expert skill, though. But then I can just get Iggy. I think you meant the agility not the dexterity, 'coz if I remember correctly his dexterity is about 86. You probably meant the agility which is 65 or so. But that is because of his accident as his foot has been crushed I think - and of course his age. And low agility isn't that striking, at least with that experience. Like Gus a lot.
And Ivan, since the first Ja came out, a definatly must.

I've already put in my two cents for the attitudes I hate, but I noticed this was about lack of fighting quality...oops.
1. Devin. I could go the whole game without using an explosive expert. By the time you get him, his skills are subpar.
2. Vince. By the time you get him, he is useless. He cannot shoot. Cannot.
3. Kyle, from the Cold Comfort for UB. I couldn't hire him because he wouldn't even talk to me.
4. The Tex in SOG'69 campaign. Useless. I hope he dies.
5. Shank. Sigh, I like the guy, and seems oddly lucky for me, but god does he suck. I like to train him, but I shouldn't have to. Useless for everything...well, he is pretty skipper...maybe he can be the squad's cheerleader?

Every merc has a use in the game. Flo is good to train militia or sit around practicing. Razor is good at knifing and high agility. Gumpy can learn. The things go on. But the worst ones are:
5) Red- Never have hored him at beginning. To low of health/MRKS. at the end. Good explosives.
4)Larry- In one game, I actually had him stay off drugs for a few days. During that time, he did okay. But when he did drugs, his stats were not any good. I got rid of him after his stats going down. He's just at risk to become pretty bad.
3)Dynamo- I usually take out Tixa after Grumm and Balime. By that time, all my guys have at least 85 MRKS.Though he spent his time training militia, he took up a spot that could have been filled by a guy who could help in Meduna. He's free so it's okay if you hava a low budget.
2)Biff- I've only used him a few times. The only time I remember him doing anything was him being my first casualty ever. I don't remember any of his stats, so I can't say what use he has.
and finally the person you've been waiting for:
1) Shank- If you've read Dynamo, you'd know he would be of little use to me. He cannot carry anything, his skills are bad, and he takes up space. The uses for him are getting gas and taking a few for the team.

1. Bubba - 29 Wisdom
2. Vince - By the time you get him, he's useless
3. Carlos - The same as above
4. Numb - The same as above
5. Slay - Ten days just isn't enough

Gumpy's voice has to be the most annoying, and Biff and Flo have no useful skills whatsoever. Shank also falls into that category. Bubba would make a cheap weapons repairman like Dynamo, but his voice is just too annoying. However, I usually get them just to haul stuff around and sell it. One camped each at San Mona, Belime, Eastoni and Cambria keep the money supplies up.
The MERC mercs get hired just to get to Cougar, who is one of my favorites.
I noticed above that some don't like Red, but I usually hire him to train explosives to the others, and he can be a mechanic as well. I usually hire Grunty and Steroid early on as well, as both make cheap, useful mercs that help round out the combat team. Grunty for his work with the LAWs, and Steroid for his cheap lock picking skills.
