I have recently found the Alt-E. I have been using it now- not to find enemies, but to find stuff on UC because it takes too long to find all the stuff when you have insane amounts of empty "containters". Although i make sure that i can pick the lock or break it open before i take the loot.

gabby's [alt]-[e] ? when i clear the sector from enemies i usually break each and every lock during the process - i hate it when some guy jumps out of a privy wielding a machine gun - if i can't break a lock i dynamite it

and back on topic: CHEATER

The measure of cheating necessary to enjoy a game is inversely proportional to how good it is.
And since no game is perfect, almost all can be made more enjoyable by some cheating. How much of the necessary cheating overlaps with the possible determines how much fun players can get out of a game even though it's imperfect...hey, what's modding again?

i guess there's a difference between modding (i won't discuss semantix here and now caffi-baby) and avoiding to open containers by gabby's [alt]-[e] and i don't give a damn how someone plays 'his' game. that's of no importances as long as you are not goin to compare co.. .to be honest - i couln't resist :placard:

Hey mateys,

I think the cheat codes are a VERY useful feature to TEST stuff... also the BR shipments arriving. They both come pretty handy when e.g. you want to design a new game interface...

Concerning the actual playing of the game:

I also like the game as it is (with the new v.1.13 settings and their evolution).
Think it's just getting excited when your mercs take some bad hits and will have to deal with it or die... So I don't save or reload at those times (I did it when I played the demo, though, back in 1998).
Alt-E? Didn't even know that... anyway, if it takes too much time to find the last enemy, then save and continue playing when you have more time... 'Cause if you don't, you're missing the best part... You can also leave the sector and return at another time if you really don't like to look for the last enemy... The number one rule in playing hide and seek is: "never get impatient, you may die sooner."

I often start with the minimum: one IMP without any starting gear and with $2000 dollars remaining... have to try that once, Will! (experienced or expert, I believe it's impossible at insane).

The way I cheat (I guess it's only with the settings, before the game starts):
I usually play with maximimum 2 IMPS as I sometimes play the game with a buddy
I use drop all
I adjust IMP so that you can have attributes between 1-35 as well, and I used to up health up till 90 as I thought v.1.13 made the game much more difficult. (I still think health is pretty important as I don't save/load, but now that Headrock fixed the bug so that health CAN be improved, I don't bother anymore).

Furthermore
I do replace an IMP who died with another one (so penalty is $3000 and back to level 1, starting stats, most often without any gear again)
I sometimes stay a while in safe places like San Mona Wink

Reasons why I start a new game:
- a new release with nice features
- after Drassen battle which I think is the Max
- I never had an IMP who got to level 8. Often my squad is massacred and run afterwards out of money
- a bug which the autosave doesn't cover

It's ok to cheat on your partner, your friends, your boss, the taxman (Pre-emptive strike: yes Kaerar they build things like schools & hospitals with taxes as well as all the stuff you don't like)

Pre-emptive Strike Rebuttal: Actually the funds used for schools/hospitals et al, is just loaned currency from the Bank of England (or whichever central bank in your country). It's not the tax dollars that go towards that at all, in fact those tax dollars are literally just used to pay off interest on the loans the Govt makes from the BoE. Seeing as the interest never existed in the system in the first place it will grow exponentially until you get to the point of impossibility. Currently there is already more debt than currency (electronic or physical) in the UK alone and the tax collected is NOT enough to pay the interest payments on the loans made using YOUR work as collateral.

Ironically the ones cheating are the people who created the banking system and playing by their rules guarantees failure or cheating by everyone involved.

As for cheating in JA2, the only times it is valuable is when you are constrained by time (chasing the last enemy...) or testing. Using the cheats at other times just defeats the purpose and enjoyment of the game. BUT I don't advocate removing them as that would prevent those who need/want to use them from being able to.

Too bad your liguistic acrobatics have little or no effect here on Earth! (or Water as would seem more appropriate to name the planet after the clear majority of the surface layer).

Crossed Hammers eh? Either very East Euro Commie or very Pink Flloyd Fascist. You choose. Smile

What are you talking about! Linguistic acrobatics? How about I study languages and the root meanings of the letters and etymology etc...

I only started doing that because of the misuse and abuse of language that has occurred for the last couple of hundred years. Hell if you look at most languages grammatically English is the worst of the lot because it places the emphasis on the noun instead of the verb which is a very major departure from earlier languages (including it's root base languages like Latin and French). This places the importance on an object rather than an action or emotion or feeling. But anyway that's not the point here.

Crossed hammers Surprised Are you calling me a commie or a fascist because I don't believe in a centralised banking system which is based on loaning out currency created out of thin air and then charging interest on top which never existed? Hmm odd. If you just accept these things then why not accept cops tazing people to force compliance and taxing the people illegally to pay back the non-existent interest to the private centralised banks? Doh, this isn't politics pit...

Hmm cheating in JA2...

Just don't bother boys and girls it ruins the fun of it Very Happy

Commie symbol is hammer and sickle, not crossed hammers. Crossed hammers are used for most technical/support military ranks.

Not always the Sickle. Angola Commie symbol was half a gear cog & and billhook for instance. I merely meant in the approx styley of etc. Never mind. What he says anyway... cheating takes away the RPV. Don't do it because you'll enjoy winning all the more in the end.
