I did a very crude bigpic based on that photo I'll send you if you e-mail me. I am very busy at both working on my own mod and fixing the house I bought so I can't volunteer to really help I just thought you might like to see this as an example of what you can do in about 15 minutes if you get in practice with image editing software.

This sounds like a fun idea and I hope you guys take off with it.

And I'll also need to know if some people WANT to be regular RPC's rather than mercenaries of A.I.M or M.E.R.C

haha all these people giving themselves levels 3-4 based on paintball games...lol.

Ivan is level 4 in JA2, and he's an experienced ex Red Army Major and has subsequently killed dozens of men in the mercenary buisiness.
People here most likely haven't even killed one person.

Dream on with your level 4. You're lucky if you're level 1 even if you're a paintball god.

@ Ash

It says "If you were a merc..." it is imagining what we would want to be, not what we are.

I'm pretty sure most of us wouldn't have a skill much over 50 and we would all be level 1.

We are here to "dream on" not talk about reality.

I believe in karma...but not the normal way.

I seem to have pre-emptive karma, if it even looks as if something good will happen to me in the future, my karma will ensure that something bad happens immediately, and continues happening so the good things never come around.

My merc has been IMP-generated, I doubt I would be that healty / such a marksman in the real world.

On I.Q.-tests
I'd have to take one of those to see what my current state of compared-to-scaledmodel-mind is.
Last time I did, on a forum, some of the people that scored lower than me (it is possible) came with some good arguments why some questions they got wrong could be seen as good.
Say: 3 fruits and 1 vegetable, which doesn't belong ?
-Alternative answer: the one fruit that is from a totally different continent than the other two fruits and 1 vegetable.
That made me have doubts on the whole validity on I.Q. etc.
Now, (not right now) I'm wondering about a connection between vocabularies and I.Q.-test results. (Vocab. ~ how many different words can you use, synonyms...) This idea had been started by reading the foreword of a dictionairy for lower-level education: it stated there that for this level of education extended vocabularies weren't required and extended explenations would most likely confuse the pupil...
That coupled with university-lecture-material that had me digging for reference every two-pages gave rise to the 'suspicion' I mentioned.

If you were a merc... you'd be dead or in prison!

Intrigued by the whole IQ stuff. Mine is 155 according to Mensa (which I left coz they're a bunch of anoraks) but it has done me no good in real life whatsoever. I'd rather be dumber and happier anyday. That said I've forgotten things other people are still trying to grasp. I give myself JA wisdom of 85. Nothing else that high coz I'm an old smoker and was never that fit anyway. Markmanship I give myself 70 coz I was designated marksman in my cadet days but that was a looooong time ago now. Skills not kept up start to trail off. All other skills between 35 & 60. If you could train from zero I'd zero explosives but as it is it's not safe!

Dexterity: 90 (I'm an airline pilot and a flight instructor. Coordination is one of my strongest points. I'm equally good with my right hand as with my left hand. And last but not least: fifteen years of piano practice and counting.)

Strenght: 65 (Only slightly above average for my age and build, I prefer thinking over brute force.)

Thought I might revive this thread. I know it's really old for the Legends and Officers here, but it's kinda cool in a self-absorbed sorta way. I also wonder if I'm the only one who's tried to play using themselves as an IMP merc.

Name: Craig 'No Current Nickname' D.

Sex: Male

Body: short and thin, Regular Male is as close as the game gets

Health: 50, would be even worse if it weren't for the facts that I seem to heal injuries so
fast, I was a long distance runner in my youth, and kitchen work has taught me
to ignore pain Smile

Agility: 70, I'm a dancer

Dexterity: 70, type 55 words/min, do all my own computer hardware repair, years of work in
restaurant kitchens, also see Mechanical

Strength: 40, hey, all I do is sit behind a desk all day, but it's not like I'm Flo or
something.... Edit: hmm, Flo actually has a higher strength than me. Embarrassed

Leadership: 45, not great, but I'm learning, used to teach and do public speaking

Wisdom: 85, MA w/honors in Psychology, dual-major BA in Liberal Arts and Chemistry, limited
skill in five languages, self-taught programmer, tested IQ 144

Marksmanship: 78, perfect 40 out 40 shots on my US Army range qualification, out of practice now

Mechanical: 60, I did all my own car repairs in my 20's, cheap friends used to come to me to have
work done

Explosives: 15, double major in Chemistry, but no practical experience

Medical: 30, CPR certified, some study in pharmacology, Army First Aid training

Skills: Teaching (used to do some of it, and my students told me I was good), Knifing (never
actually fought with a knife, but I figured all that time handling knives in
restaurants had to count for something)

Trait: Heat intolerance, I got heat exhaustion in boot camp, and still have trouble with it

Personality: Optimistic

Racism: not racist, despise racism

Sexism: Gentleman, actually something of a male feminist

Good Guy: Yes, damnable moral streak gets in the way of selfish interests all the time Wink

Appearance: Bi-polar, alternating dapper and slovenly

Level: 1.5, 'cuz I did 4 yrs in the Army and have studied tactics in wargaming for years,
and what is up with all these young'uns who rate themselves at lvl 4?

Equipment: I wouldn't hit the field with less than an M-16, but no scopes and goggles and fancy
gizmos - I don't know how to use 'em, and I'm not strong enough to carry 'em.
Don't give me armor, I'll faint under the weight of it. Maybe a helmet. I'd pick up
some camouflaged clothing, a small, lightweight tool kit, a first aid kit, and
a canteen, and of course a backpack to carry it all.

Likes: Ice, Thor, Scope, and Blood (why does nobody else like my man Blood?)
Learns to Like: Grizzly, but dude, Vietnam was decades ago, get some therapy and get OVER

um, it. Smile

See, that's why Dexterity is only 75 despite some success and experience - sometimes my fingers still hit the wrong thing....

Well, to finish.

Hates: Bubba, just can't stand racists
Learns to Hate: Meltdown (jeez, lady, take some Prozac or sumthing)

If I were a merc:

A.I.M. Description: A former gun bunny (artileryman) Sergeant in the Army National Guard, Saint has military background, but lacks combat experience. Unfortunately, James hasn't been taking care of himself lately and his health and skills have dropped off slightly. Despite repeated attempts, he has been unable to overcome his weight problem. However, "the saint" is a bargain if you're looking for a nice guy who is knowledgable in electronics and robotics.

Name: James Earl P. - As in "James." Not "Jim," "Jimmy," "Jimbo," or whatever.

Nickname: Saint - In my military days, the guys in my gun section called me "Father Mulcahy" because (they claimed) I looked like the M.A.S.H. TV character of the same name.

Sex: Male

Race: White

Nationality: American

Body type: Fat male civ(ilian) - I'm outta shape; I'd try to slim down to Reg Male before signing on with A.I.M., though.

Badass: N

Hair colour: BROWNHEAD - with short hair

Skin colour: PINKSKIN - or maybe SUNBURNED

Shirt colour: BLACKSHIRT

Pants colour: JEANPANTS

Daily salary: 700

Weekly salary: 3400

Bi-weekly salary: 5500

Medical deposit: No

Experience Level: 1 - Former Army National Guard, armchair strategist, military history buff, and so forth. But it doesn't change the fact that I've never been in combat (missed the Gulf War by this much || ).

Health: 55 - I'm out of shape, overweight, but I don't poison my body.

Dexterity: 80 - I've always had good fine-motor skills; still do.

Agility: 60 - I used to be a lean, mean, fighting machine; now I'm a chubby engineer.

Strength: 45 - Even at my physical peak, upper body strength was never one of my "strong" points, and now . . . well, let's just say I think I could still take Biff in an arm wrestle.

Wisdom: 85 - I scored 140 on the IQ test at the link in Lucas-san's post, but IQ != Wisdom. However, I also design, build, and program autonomous and tele-operable vehicles/robots for a living, like Madlab, and his Wisdom is 93.

Leadership: 30 - Both civilian and military leadership experience.

Marksmanship: 80 - Used to be better, but I haven't lost my touch.

Medical: 20 - I have training, but I'm squeamish, and I hate needles.

Mechanical: 20 - This should be higher, but I just hate it. I hate fixing cars, cleaning guns, changing light bulbs, doing dishes, etc.

Explosives: 15 - After some experimenting as a kid and some military training, I know enough not to mess with them.

Scientific: 75 - I have some background in math, chemistry, physics, engineering, and computer science, but I'm not an over-achiever. Anyway, this skill isn't used in JA2, so it doesn't matter.

Appearance: Average - But I might have to use "Just for Men" for my thinning hair soon, or I'll have to change this to "Homely."

Refinement: Average - Not a snob, not a slob.

Hated Nationality: Canada - Just kidding! I haven't met a Canadian I didn't like (and have a great Canadian neighbor), and besides JA2 and Rush are both Canadian exports, so there ya go Smile

Sexist: Gentleman

Racist: Not Racist

Attitude: Loner - I like isolation.

Personality Trait: Fear of Insects - Oh yeah, I hate 'em; just throw me in a pit full of creepy crawlies, and I'll talk.

Skill Trait 1: Electronics - Current profession.

Skill Trait 2: Heavy Weapons - MOS-13B "Artillery" training.

Need for Sleep: 6 - This is slipping toward 7 though.

Buddies: Nobody - I'm a Loner.

Learn to like: Shadow (The merc I imagine I'd be), Raven (Love her voice, and she's got spiritual qualities too: "Our Father who art in Heaven").

Hated: Meltdown (Muzzle her!), Bubba (Spp-spp-iit it out you child-molester).

Learn to hate: Fox (she might be a hottie, but I despise self-absorbed whiners), Raider (You soo don't deserve Raven).

Good guy: Yes - Another reason my Army buddies called me "Father Mulcahy;" I'd be a merc with morals.

Equipment:
Full-auto version of the XR15A3 M4 Tactical, 16" barrel, chambering 6.5mm Grendel rounds, from Sabre Defence Industries http://www.sabredefence.com/ Has anyone drawn this?
I'd have my mechanical friends at work give my AR the Rod & Spring upgrade Smile
ACOG Combo, 4x
Insight LAM-200
8 6.5mm Grendel Magazines
2 Frag grenades
Camouflage uniform OR kevlar leather jacket (if I slim down a bit and use Just for Men)
Bush Hat (with uniform) OR black cap (with leather jacket)
Sun Goggles
First aid kit
Tool Kit
Canteen
5 gallon can of bug spray
