Hey guys, I have gone through searching for this and I am still having a problem. I use winxp and VDMS. Everytime I launch dg.exe it tells me it cannot read the CDRom. I HAVE edited the cd.rom file so that it says C now. Honestly I don't know what else to do to get this to work! Smile

Any help would be awesome.

Ok already I fixed that particular issue only to get to another!

I have the original JADG disks, so I do not need to edite the cd.rom file. BEFORE I patched it to 1.13z it worked fine. Now after I have patched it, it says:

"Sorry - You have an older/incompatible version of EDT\PROF.EDT!"

I have downloaded the patch from two separate sources thinking it was a bad patch or something. Has anyone else got this error?

Well this is kinda embarrassing. All this craziness and I figure it out. There is a post here in the archives that explains it. In essence you have to extract the patch and make sure you simply (MANUALLY) put the extracted prof.edt file in the edt directory. *Sigh.

Sorry for the drama! Hopefully it helps someone someday. Though it will probably be me when I forget again..... Wink

You have to extract the patch in a different directory. then copy all of the files over to the root directory of your deadly games installation EXCEPT for prof.edt.

Then copy prof.edt into the EDT directory, overwriting the existing one.

I guess, for some reason, the patch does not extract the prof.edt file automatically into the EDT directory, so you have to do that manually. Smile

so chickenhed... does that totally cancel the cd check than or it fixes it to recognize youre cd-rom? cause i have the v1.00 abandonware version that i was hoping to patch to 1.13z. with 1.00 i have the cd.rom file set at 'c:\deadly games'. n that works fine to bypass cd-rom check since i don't have a cd with the abandonware version... when i patched it, keeping the same setting in the cd.rom file, it now asks for the cd.. doesn't make sense hehe well i assume with yours you were trying to recognize your cd-rom, so with extracting the patch files and copying them over manually what would i do? maybe edit prof.edt in someway? thanks much for any help you can offer.

Hey castledweller.

Please don't forget that I own the original Deadly Games CDs. So weather or not it cancels out the CD check, I do not know as I haven't even tried to play it without the CD. Since I can hear the CD spin up when the game loads, I can only assume that it does in fact check for the CD.

yes i realize that chickenhed... that's why i said i assumed you were tryin to get it to recognize the cd. but since you were saying you were editing cd.rom to 'C' that would bypass the cd check n look to your hard drive for game files. was just wondering if you had any success with that or could offer me any help in that department since you were doing cd check bypasses.
