Im using Windows 98 on a Dell computer 210mhz speed chip. 64 mgs of RAM. Im playing JA2

When I first started choppering around I noticed that Skyraider charges for trips out and back. So I started ignoring him after drop off. Eventually he would complain about fuel and head back by himself, great I saved some money. So on day 53 I had him drop off my squad in Alma. Well he started complaining and then...nothing. The helicopter icon is stuck in the square I EVA'd from and when I click on it, he sez he needs to head back but then he doesn't. I keep playing and after two days nothing has changed.

Another minor bug is the annoying habit of Hans sometimes trapping my mercs in the back after a deal with Tony. I know I have to bring another merc to talk to him and then he moves, but damn.

This bug also, somes sectors despite my clearing them don't erase the inventory number on the Inventory display. So one sector that had 42 items wont change even after I removed all the items.

Do patches fix any of this stuff?

Another thing you might want to consider with the helicopter is this: If you tell him to go to the sector he already is in, he will never run out of fuel. This is a cheat/exploitation, so think about it before using it, as it makes the game a lot easier.

For Hans blocking you: try leaving the sector on the map screen and immedialtly cancel the move, or enter a vehicle and exit again, that should teleport you to a side of the sector.

As for empty sectors having items, that's a bug. If you remove all items from a sector, leave it and then return, all items will reappear where you first found them.

I'm not sure which patches fix what, but for stability reasons you should not play the original v1.00 as it has a lot more bugs and crashes quite often.

Ehlijen,
What's the point of the helicopter bug? If Skyrider doesn't move anywhere, so what if he doesn't run out of fuel? Maybe I misunderstood, but how could this be used by people who play the game?

That means he doesn't have to return to drassen after each flight. So you can park him somewhere more central and closer to your squads. Say you drop your squad next to Orta, move in the take it, and afterwards skyrider is still just one square away, much closer than Drassen or Estoni so you save time and money. It doesn't help when the heli is stuck though.

Sorry for confusing you.

Hello.

I've got the same problem, and it's not something you can exploit. For me, he is stuck in Grumm and refuses to leave. But I can't put mercs in the helicopter, and when I try to select him, he just says the "Can't hang out any longer yada yada"-part. Can't select him, can't use him, and he's stuck. That's my problem at least.

I had this bug twice(at least). The only solution is an earlier save.

The original post was made in 2003 and none of you mentioned any version information, how about patching to 1.13? Propably invalidates savegames, but the features and bugfixes are worth it.

Patching to 1.13 is not an easy/practical solution. And I haven't tried it yet.The vanilla flavour still looks tasteful for me..... :cuppa:

Maybe one day.

1.13 is easy to patch to. You install the game fresh. Download the 1.13 stuff via SVN or from the 1.13 minus SVN thread. Drop those files on top of your vanilla (1.06/1.12) JA2 and then voila you have 1.13.
