I played JA2 years ago and loved it, so I jumped at the chance to buy it when I saw it on Steam. Bad idea. There seem to be a number of bugs, and some people are saying it is unplayable. I'm not expecting to get much help from Steam or Strategy First in fixing this, though I'll try.
At this point, I'm not interested in version 1.13. I just want to get something that works. So far, I've noticed two big problems:
- When you go to hire new mercs at the start of the game, funds are not deducted properly from your account, and it ends up that you can spend as much as you want. If this only happens at the start of the game that's fine, I can regulate myself and only spend the proper amount, ignoring the extra cash. If the accounting is screwed up for the rest of the game, however, it really is unplayable. I haven't played long enough to test this yet (I've seen at least one other thread complaining about this bug).
- Even more seriously, dropped items seem to disappear from the map! I cleared the Drassen SAM, was getting ready to pick up the goodies from the ground, saw the cutscene where the queen learned about the attack, and then as soon as I returned to tactical view all the items dropped by the enemy soldiers (plus their bodies) were gone! I'm not sure what triggers this: the cutscene, me saving the game, ot just leaving tactical view for a minute. Regardless, this is another game-breaking bug. I might be able to work around this by picking up everything as soon as possible, but it's very, very annoying.
Anyone else have the Steam version? Have you seen these bugs, or any other ones? Do any of the patches help?

I too have the steam version, it says v1.2 on mine.
You can't store items anywhere either becasue whe you load a game all the sector inventories reset.
Can you even patch the steam version? And how would i roll it back?
