Did you start your game with 'normal guns' set, or with 'tons of guns' set?

You know what, I can't remember. If with normal you only get vanila guns then that will be it (how embaressing)

Starwalker
Does the path to the custom directory in JA2.ini point to Data or Data1.13?

I have no idea nor would I know how to check.

Hit 'V' while in the strategical screen, the message box should show some info about the settings of your game.

In that case you did not play around with it; it should point to Data1.13 then, which is O.K.
Otherwise you'd get a pure vanilla game, without any 1.13 features.

Thanks I'll check tonight. Just for clarity purposes, if you select normal set then will you only get the vanila equipment ?

To install all I did was what it says at the beginging of this thread and changed the ini. All my ini changes worked and when the sirtech load screen appears on start up it says 1.13 v 1379. The svn update wont download any more files I think it says that i'm at 916.

If you set normal guns, then you should only have items from vanilla JA2 and from Unfinished Business in your game.

At the moment SVN is at revision 926. You may want to get the Beta24.2-exe from Overhaul, elsewhere in this forum.

I seriously hope someone's reinstalled VC++ in the past year though - without it, everything else is pointless. I need to compile, damnit!

Quick question: Is there a log file or release list somewhere that correlates the SVN build number to the 1.13 build number?

Also, how would I go about downloading a specific 1.13 build? I just picked up HAM beta 2.7, and the instructions recommend build 2382. I imagine that would be the 1.13 build number, since the SVN build I just downloaded last night is 1048 or thereabouts.

1048 is the revision number. Meaning, SVN has been updated 1048 times. That's 0-1048 times. Now .exe builds are only listed in the log report notes. If you look at show log. Then you will see that at revison 1044, Wanne created a new .exe build 2377 on wednesday oct 15th.

You can also keep an eye on the "Release Notes" thread for .exe updates.

Just delete the files that are marked in red (errors) and then update again from SVN. Then all should be ok (green).

1st post updated with this warning.

Quote:
4a) Word of caution! Always download to a new empty folder, then copy the files to your game directory. There seems to be a problem of missing files happening if you download directly into your JA2 install.

Can the updating to specific SVN revision be done in RapidSVN? Poked around for 10 minutes but couldn't find anything...
I'm pretty sure Tortoise can do this but... having Tortoise installed is like having a fat smelly loudmouth guy sit next to you in an airplane. Bit too intrusive for my liking....
Trying to get the HAM to work (properly this time), for which I'd need SVN build 2382.
So, any recommended alternatives to Tortoise?

When you click the update button, a small menu opens up before the actual update occurs, the upper part contains an input space and a box for a checkmark. Remove the checkmark, then you can put the revision number into the input space.
I never tried to 'update' to an older version myself, though Wink

See, that was the tricky part, but I think I got it now. What it wanted was the revision number, not the exe build number.
The revision number never came up (except now that I inspect the posts above with bit more care.)
Also, I noticed you can actually access the logs with RapidSVN, just right click a file and click 'Log'
and I can now see the build numbers for ja2.exe in the notes.
The log access was the problem... which I could've said earlier, I guess, but this SVN thing is still
sufficiently confusing to me. Build number vs. revision number... gah!
So at least it's possible to see the notes. However, with ja2.exe there doesn't appear to be such build as 2382.
For ja2.exe I can see builds 2445, 2436, 2417, 2415 and the next one is 2377. So... no 2382.
However, Headrock suggested bunch of other build numbers to use with HAM, of which 2377 was one, so I think I'll go with that for now.Quote:

Well, I did. I picked the "Check out new working copy", that's also where you get to enter the revision number.
I suppose it can also revert all the necessary files back to specific revision number (which is 1044 for ja2.exe build 2377).Quote:
one can use a cross-platform CLI client, called subversion

Thank you. I will check that out.

^^ This.

Checking out HEAD revision now. I assume I can just drop it on an older version and overwrite everything?

That happens from time to time, not sure why, traffic jams maybe. Plus it's a good idea to keep your SVN software up to date, I know "Tortoise" has been updated a lot recently.

Hi guys,
Is there any particular order to moving the SVN files from the original folder to the JA2 directory? Or do you just click and drag them all over there?

Use the export option (if using Tortoise SVN) as then you don't copy the hidden .svn folders.

Hi all,
I have this problem with installing the downloaded file:

TortoiseSVN-1.6.5.16974-win32-svn-1.6.5.msi

I get a message window saying:

This installation package could not be opened. Contact the application vendor to verify that this is a valid Windows installer package.

I tried looking in FAQ but there is no information on this problem. I have no idea what could be wrong, any ideas?

It can happen with screwed up ownership/permissions on the server files, but I don't think that is the cause because I just update with SVN yesterday using Win 7 64 bit.

Another possibility is if you somehow have a second process trying to access SVN at same time, maybe a zombie process from prior attempt. Reboot or find/kill the zombie process.

I updated to version 1205, looks like no updates since december 15th

I just got the latest v1.13 through svn and everything seemes to work fine so far.
but since i haven't done this before (= never used svn before) and am bit suspicious as well, could someone please confirm that I did it right?

- clean install (german!)
- downloaded this stuf via svn: https://81.169.133.124/source/ja2_v1.13_data/GameDir
- copied the above stuff into ja2-dir.
- then downloaded this stuff: https://81.169.133.124/source/ja2/trunk/GameData/German_Version/
- and copied the stuff again into ja2-dir.

as I said, everything *seems* to work okay. I just want to know, if this was "the right procedure", the intended way to do it.

Hello,

I've also just installed Tortoise and got to step 8 without any problems.
But step 9 confuses me because I don't get the "SVN UPDATE" option.

I had a clean install of JA2 gold with the update to v.1.12.
Then I installed "JA2 1.13 3329 exe SVN@1210 Full" and over that I installed the Single Click Installer of HAM3.6/WF/AIM.
I did all this following the instructions here: http://www.ja-galaxy-forum.com/board/ubbthreads.php?ubb=showflat&Number=240116&page=1#Post240116

Then I read about SVN and wanted to try it out but only got as far as downloading the latest complete installation of 1.13 but never found the "SVN update" option.
So does this option still exist?
