Is anyone else having problems with svn? I have followed the instructions in the first post but so far have had nothing but a small spinning circle for the last 2 hours in a window called "gamedir - Checkout - TortoiseSVN" Default values are Checkout Depth = Fully recursive & Revision = HEAD revision.

Any help/suggestions/feedback appreciated.

Looks like I'm now getting a new error.

Checkout from https://81.169.133.124/source/ja2_v1.13_data/GameDir, revision HEAD, Fully recursive, Externals included
OPTIONS of 'https://81.169.133.124/source/ja2_v1.13_data/GameDir': SSL

your host machine.

This seems to suggest the problem is with my computer?

It looks like the FTP server is down. Can someone please look into this. Rowa? Lalien?

Thanks

On another note. For folks using Tortoise. You should also keep that updated. The lastest version fixed quite a few bugs, I noticed.

Can anyone verify if the SVN is now working? And if not can someone please check it out and see why it's not working.

Thanks

I'm not sure about *right now*, but it was fine 2h ago when I checked out the 1.13 source. Unless that's a different server or something, disregard this post if that is the case.

That happens from time to time, not sure why, traffic jams maybe. Plus it's a good idea to keep your SVN software up to date, I know "Tortoise" has been updated a lot recently.

Thx. Smile It's been a rough year for me, had to move, (which worked out for the best), lost my brother to cancer, (which I will never get over), but things are starting to mellow out now and I hope this new year makes up for the last. Smile

Hi guys,
Is there any particular order to moving the SVN files from the original folder to the JA2 directory? Or do you just click and drag them all over there?

Use the export option (if using Tortoise SVN) as then you don't copy the hidden .svn folders.

Hi all,
I have this problem with installing the downloaded file:

TortoiseSVN-1.6.5.16974-win32-svn-1.6.5.msi

I get a message window saying:

This installation package could not be opened. Contact the application vendor to verify that this is a valid Windows installer package.

I tried looking in FAQ but there is no information on this problem. I have no idea what could be wrong, any ideas?

@Mindnut
Try redownloading it. If that fails see if you can install any other msi files.

I remenber my friend installing hamachi and it messed his computer up quite a bit and he cant install msi files now unless he rebuilds it.

Unfortunately I don't have a clue. Maybe someone who is actually using vista can help you. Sorry.

Are you up to date with your tortoise software or whatever your using?

It can happen with screwed up ownership/permissions on the server files, but I don't think that is the cause because I just update with SVN yesterday using Win 7 64 bit.

Another possibility is if you somehow have a second process trying to access SVN at same time, maybe a zombie process from prior attempt. Reboot or find/kill the zombie process.

I updated to version 1205, looks like no updates since december 15th

Hey, is maybe server down today? I can't update. I haven't updated for a while and today I stopped by to see what's new and I saw the new update. But when I run the svn updater, it hangs there for a while and then reports this

Error: OPTIONS of 'https://81.169.133.124/source/ja2_v1.13_data/GameDir': SSL
Error: handshake failed: An existing connection was forcibly closed by the remote host.
Error: (https://81.169.133.124)

I haven't changed any settings that had worked brfore.

I just got the latest v1.13 through svn and everything seemes to work fine so far.
but since i haven't done this before (= never used svn before) and am bit suspicious as well, could someone please confirm that I did it right?

- clean install (german!)
- downloaded this stuf via svn: https://81.169.133.124/source/ja2_v1.13_data/GameDir
- copied the above stuff into ja2-dir.
- then downloaded this stuff: https://81.169.133.124/source/ja2/trunk/GameData/German_Version/
- and copied the stuff again into ja2-dir.

as I said, everything *seems* to work okay. I just want to know, if this was "the right procedure", the intended way to do it.

Hello,

I've also just installed Tortoise and got to step 8 without any problems.
But step 9 confuses me because I don't get the "SVN UPDATE" option.

I had a clean install of JA2 gold with the update to v.1.12.
Then I installed "JA2 1.13 3329 exe SVN@1210 Full" and over that I installed the Single Click Installer of HAM3.6/WF/AIM.
I did all this following the instructions here: http://www.ja-galaxy-forum.com/board/ubbthreads.php?ubb=showflat&Number=240116&page=1#Post240116

Then I read about SVN and wanted to try it out but only got as far as downloading the latest complete installation of 1.13 but never found the "SVN update" option.
So does this option still exist?

Hi GemAye, Welcome back after a short while!! Very Happy

There are two "latest" versions of 1.13:
1. Kaerar's Single Click Installer (SCI), it contains everything you need to play the latest *stable* version of 1.13
2. Tortoise Subversion (SVN), it contains the latest checked in modifications by developers and may not always work.

If you want to play a game based on the latest stable release, then just follow goc_man's instructions exactly step by step like he lists them and you will be fine.

The SVN version you download with Tortoise is mostly for testers or players who requested a new feature where a coder checked it in and now the player wants to try it.

Also when you first download the SVN you get all the latest files. So to answer your question the update Marlboro Man describes is for people who downloaded the game files from Tortoise a while ago and now want to latests changes since then.

Currently 1220 Full is the latest SCI. That is only one revision out from SVN (it's at 1221) but the change is a very minor XML fix and not worth uploading a whole new SCI.

If you want to update from SVN directly, best method is to have a separate folder which you use for the SVN download. Right click on the folder (mines called SVN Wink ) and set the repository details. Then once they are set, right click again and choose the "SVN update". That will download the latest from SVN. Warning though it's about 600MB...

Well, you've lost me again at "set the repository details".
The README.txt inside the folder says there should be an svnadmin tool which I should be using?
Anyways, this is getting too complicated for me so I'll just keep on playing the stable version and leave SVN for what it is for now.

@Dieter
Yeah its been a while since I have played JA or even have installed it.
I used to get stuck on some missing files which crashed my game but now that there have been some updates I've installed it again.
