It's simpler than K says , cause I've never set any details either . Just r/click on SVN folder and choose update . Voila' , depends how much you have already d/loaded how long this will take , if you keep up to date it's only a moment or two . You then transfer (copy/paste) the received data to your chosen install of JA .

Aha I finally got it!
I needed to r/click the Gamedir folder in the SVN folder to get the "Update" option!
If I r/click the SVN folder (which what I was doing) it doesn't show.

It seems a new bug in v3356:
When I fly over an enemy squad with the helicopter time does not stop automatically.

Hi there,

I would like to make a suggestion. Is is it possible to include the tortoise links to the other languages? Maybe with the instructions, how to install 1.13 from SVN for different languages? Just for a better overview.

Further on, can we have threads like these: http://www.ja-galaxy-forum.com/board/ubbthreads.php?ubb=showflat&Number=240116&page=1#Post240116 linked in the "Bear's Pit JA2 Quick Links for the Dummies, Geniuses and the Totally Lazy of us" section? Maybe BigMapsProject and similar threads, too?

Bear's Pit is quite full of threads, projects, mods, add-ons, stuff and information. Maybe, the most important, interesting, etc could be linked in the top section.

Maybe some general informations, like Release thread, explanation of shortcuts (http://www.ja-galaxy-forum.com/board/ubbthreads.php?ubb=showflat&Number=216685&page=1#Post216685) could be integrated in the wiki (but in which^^)

My idea is a general revision of the information organisation.

Anyone has a need of this, too?

I downloades the SVN 1205 and i found options from HAM, so is HAM included now in the latest SVN Builds ?

for example = "HELICOPTER_BASE_COST_PER_GREEN_TILE"

That is from HAM 3.5 and now already in the SVN 1205 "Ja2_Options.INI"!

As far as I know, you don't need to manually open them. But it depends on the OS you are using I suppose.

Could it be possible that TC is a 32bit application? Try installing the 32bit SVN (you can run both parallel on a 64bit machine) and see what happens.

TC is a 32bit application. Nevertheless it can run Tortoise just fine.

 • 1. Right click on the folder for a little longer (a bar will go from left to right)
 • 2. The context menu will open. Look for a sub menu called "X64".
 • 3. In this menu select the SVN entry that you want.
That is how it works on my system.

Hmmmm just downloaded via the SVN and updated my vanilla files and now I get a error on loading of the game...

"Missing INTERFACE\Silhouette.sti"

What is that and where can I find a fix?

System is Win7 Ultimate 64bit and before today ran Vanilla Ja2 with mods quite well. Except for a few random crashes.

You mean "Silhouettes.sti"? This is in SVN in folder "Data\Interface".

Just to make sure we are talking about the same SVN address:

https://81.169.133.124/source/ja2_v1.13_data/GameDir/

You can also open this in your browser and navigate to "Data/Interface/" where you should see the file "Silhouettes.sti" in the list. I don't know why Tortoise wouldn't download this file. :whoknows:

Not sure and yes that is the address for the SVN I used.

Here is the first part of that which I forgot was in the error message. Also this is on a clean install of JA2 that I downloaded from GOG.com

Quote:
Assertion Failure [Line 370 in file .\Interface.cpp]

Then goes on to say that it is "attempting to debug" and that it needs to be saved as Savegame97....Then I get the "Missing INTERFACE\Silhouette.sti" at the end.

And I can only hit ESC to exit since nothing else works after that.

This is at the beginning right after the splash screen saying Sir-Tech and the version number which appears in the upper left corner and looks like it matches what it is supposed to have.

I want to say this...I know the instructions say to move the SVN file first but I have downloaded the most recent SVN via the tortoise and there is no SVN file in there.

Something must have gone wrong in the process.
I would do this:

 • 1. Remove the botched installation of JA2
 • 2. Do a fresh install of JA2 in a clean folder not under a system folder like "c:\program files\bla blub whatever" - Reason? I don't trust Windows to work right when it comes to run software from system folders. Permissions are always a problem and I could kick the idiot who invented the UAC...
 • 3. Patch that fresh installation with the latest official patch if it is not already a patched or Gold version.
 • 4. Make a backup of that fresh installation in case you need to reinstall at a later date. It's always easier to copy that clean folder instead of running the installer.
 • 5. Create a new folder and use Tortoise to download the SVN package to this folder. Don't ever touch this folder again except for updating your copy of SVN through Tortoise.
 • 6. Copy the content of the SVN folder to your JA2 game folder and overwrite if asked.
That is all that you need to do to get the SVN version running.

well ur harddisk also wont like the mass .svn files in hidden folders, every file that's linked to svn has one so you get double the amount of files and they're all tiny.
space isn't the problem, i just dont like the mess they create..

Well I went through it as you explained and got the same error message again...got another one the first time I tried to run the JA2 exe but I didn't understand it.

I guess I will try and roll back the whole system and see what happens just for giggles.

I leave on Tuesday for the rest of the week for work out of town so I really don't have time to sit around and try to find a work around for this.

I have tried all of the single click installers and I can't get a good download from them...it gets to the end and then the server hangs up and the download times out. I should have NEVER screwed around with the installation that I had working and running smooth with the weapons mod. Now I can't even find that weapons mod to make it work right again.

I followed the instructions to the letter, but running JA2.exe gets a "Number of tilesets in code does not match data file" error message. What's the cause of this problem?

The SVN instructions in the first post.

Edit: I notice the SVN didn't seem to update the JA2.exe file, though; I assume this is a glitch?

Those instructions may be out of date given they are from 4 years ago. You are probably best off using one of the one-click installers.

The instructions are fine, nothing really changed on the system side. But, there's currently no exe in the SVN directory, it has been removed for the duration of the closed beta test. So best to just get Tais' latest SCI (rev4057).

edit: Nevermind --- getting the game data from the first post instead of RoWa's link worked.

I had Tai's SCI (with UC), but since I got a lot of bugs on my self-compiled .EXE, I thought I'd try with a normal version of 1.13.

So I have

1) A working version of JA2 Gold 1.12 (build 04.12.01)
2) Downloaded the latest SVN from (https://81.169.133.124/source/ja2/branches/Wanne/JA2%201.13%20MP) as suggested by RoWa here. which is a relatively small download (30 MB ish?)
*not* the link from the same post in this thread "https://81.169.133.124/source/ja2_v1.13_data/GameDir) -- which is apparently a 300 mb download.
3) Copied the SVN's gamedir to JA2 Gold's folder, overwriting anything.
4) Compiled the Build using VS2010. Created Ja2_EN_Debug.EXe. Copied that to the JA2 folder

JA2_EN_DEBUG.EXE wont start because binkw32.dll, fmod.dll are missing.
5) Copy the DLLs from Tai's SCI JA2 folder.

Ja2_EN_DEBUG.EXE wont start with the following error: "Initializing Virtual File System Failed"
www.lamaisondujardinier.com/files/virtualsystemfailed.png

Any idea?
Cheers!

Also -- any idea why the "add an image to the post button" is broken?

During the closed beta test, isn't it best to display the information that there is no JA2.exe coming with the SVN repository in the first post (by Marlboro Man)?

I actually think this should be announced in large and colourful letters so unaware players (like me, for instance u_U) don't get confused until they find that information. Needless to say that it should be removed when the executable is available again.

Let me rephrase that.
SpaceViking

The first post has to get updated. I suppose any moderator can do that? Or does Marlboro Man hold the rights?

May I suggest that you either shut down anonymous SVN access during the final beta stage, or put the exe back in the repository? I just wasted quite some time before I realized that the build is useless without access to the latest exe.

While i can understand not wanting to release a non-perfect EXE, we, who would very much like to try the new additions, wouldnt mind too much if the EXE wasnt perfect.

But do you have an estimate on when you will release the EXE on SVN or otherwise again?

I just started modding again (AI changes mostly) and noticed that everything is fine up to revision 3753. Updating to 4064 causes a number of issues, most notably around VFS and project file changes. In case it matters I'm using VS2005 Express. Are there any extra steps for these later builds that previous ones did not require?
