Just making an assumption here ... but maybe our Russian friends were reffering to the date they celebrate Christmas in their own country ? If I remember correctly the Russian Ortodox Church is still using the old roman calendar so Russian Christmas should be sometimes in the middle of January. In any case since we've waited for it so long I don't think a few weeks more would kill anyone. Just as long as it is just a few weeks ...

That could very well be... I didn't think of that. Maybe it IS so, I don't have the slightest clue about that. This is the mod I've wanted the most though... I hope there won't be too much wait anymore. It's two days to New Year's Eve.

OK, guys. I'm finally back to internet.

First of all I want to really appologize for delay with English version of SJ. We were really looking forward to relise it by the end of the past year, but unfortunatelly because of too many people are taking part in the project, we could not manage to gather all the pieces together.
I'm really sorry about it, so this time I'm not gonna tell you any exect date of relise, but just tell you that it should be very - very soon.

Thanks Eugene. We thank you for all your efforts and hope it won't take too long to see the final product. I admit I was a little dissapointed because I was hoping to get the new "toy" in time for the Christmas Holidays but I understand it's not easy to manage a large team effort like you guis are doing. Thank you again and we are waiting for the mod ASAP. Smile

I don't think it's worth playing if you don't understand anything. I think the sidequests and all that stuff are the heart and soul of the game. Just fighting and shooting is dull. I hope the translation comes soon. We've been waiting for two years. I. Can't. Believe. It.

Like I don't know that. I don't even play Jagged Alliance anymore, I don't give a damn about Jagged Alliance anymore. I just want to play this mod, because it seems good. JA is a good game and if a good mod comes by, why the hell not play it? And there's nothing else to do in these crap forums than to check this thread.

I mean, do people even post around here? Seems that in every subforum the last post was posted like a week ago or something. Expect the off-topic forum, of course. Shocker.

I just want to play this mod, but looks like those lazy translators can't get anything done, so I'm starting to stop caring about it. I mean, an update or two in a month would be nice!

In case when the translation is in the hands of people who do not really need it, I do not expect it will go to succesfull end ever. When Russian or Chinese fans what to translate any mod from English into their own language they always do it themselves mobilizing community, and I do not see any reasons why some one should do this work instead English speaking people in this particular case... So, for me there is no wonder if those enthusiasts who start the translation do lost their interest to this task already...

As for Ja2 there is very low activity even in German forums of Ja2 Wildfire already, while game hit the shelves only one Year ago, so it's normal to have very low activity here as well...
The onlu live topics in Russain formus for example are onlye those about Hi-res mods to Ja2 released less then half an yare ago and/or progressing right now... The rest are as dead as here...

I didn't hear any response from you either here or by private e-mail. That's why I stopped working on the translation.
If what I did was substandard, just let me know and I'll delete the documents you sent me. I did need some clarifacation about a few things and that's why I sent you those e-mails a few months ago.

Let me know one way or the other.

The 1.13 section is always active. With this modding platform (and the numerous game function improvements) new mods are going to be even better than anything we've seen.
The .exe is still very much in development but already I can't imagine going back to the 1.07, 1.12 or any other. The externalised data alone makes this one a modder's best friend.

ja2 modmaking ain`t dead. And it is merely a matter of luck if you can find people that are willing to contribute "speedy" or "rough" translations for your particuliar mod. For vengeance, which isn`t out as long as other mods, some people were already contributing nice translations. Maybe it is way more material and also more difficult to do this for shady job or russian mods in general, i don`t know.

most modmakers don`t contribute too much to forum discussions but keep working in the background.
I find this unfortunate becasue often people will think that these projects they don`t hear about are dead. That`s why i repeatedly state that i`m active and working, and that i know that others are modding as well. Just if anybody cares, in my signature there are some screenshots for a mod project that is supposed to base on 1.13 and contian english speech and all. And there are bigger and (maybe) better projects in the making as well. No reason to be so pessimistic

Well, my problem was that I couldn't understand exactly what was being said in the initial documents that were sent. I know Russian does not translate nearly as well into English as - say - German does (English is a Germanic language after all). So I asked for clarifacation before I went any further. When I didn't recieve any e-mails I stopped working.

It's important in any project to have open communication. This is the reason I think many mods teams fall apart.

But in the case of a translation, it is vital for the translator to be able to learn what is meant when something is unclear. I didn't want the wrong dialouge to come out because I didn't get what they were saying so I asked.
I assumed when I didn't get an answer they either didn't like the work I had sent them or they had lost interest in making a translation alltogether.

I stand ready to pick up where I left off if someone answers a few questions.

I agree 100% with you guys, which is why I try to spend several hours a week on several forums, letting people know we're workin on it Smile

Because even if I can't get to my code, I can get to the internet almost anywhere. I'm the officially unofficial spokesperson for this project over at TBS, and if I don't post for 3 or 4 days, they start to worry Razz

And I added the mod to my sig on almost every forum I've ever visited, that way (on most forums) my sig is retro-active and people can find their way to the mod even by happening across a very old and completely un-related post Smile

I know, I know, shut up and get back to the source code... I'm going...

I can not find the thread about NIght ops mod any more. Can someone help me find the translated manual, how to install the mod?. If I remeber corectly it was displayed in Night ops topic. I have missplaced my copy of instalation guide and now can not install the mod any more.

you know, it`s a crap job doing translations so asking the original devs to do so is kinda not the smartest thing to do.

most mods will probably never be fully translated (there`s just soo much in there)

i think you were missing out on some ja2 mods during the last year (plain english 1.13 for instance)

You guys don't get it, do you? The only mod I want is THIS MOD. Not my own "frackin mod", not 1.13 (I didn't like it), Shady Job, nothing else! And these guys have been promising us with translations for 2 years, so maybe it's about time they get them done!
