Don't thank me, I didn't do any work on this mod at all! I just translated some text files.

As for the problems listed in the Readme, as far as I know, they are not fixable, so they won't be patched. Sorry.

As for translating the rest: I'm not dead yet, and I'll probably get cracking sometime in the next few weeks, Dialogues and Itemdescs need to be done. The last, and minor point will be translating the map names. Sorry I didn't get any more work done on this, but I am back home in Luxembourg, and I don't have very much time (too many people to meet and so on...)

It is a good one. Any estimate when the english translation might be ready? Even a partial one would be nice. I'm just roaming the country side killing the bad guys. But I would like to hire a new merc with some of the cash I've recovered. Where do you go to fix the laptop?

@ mike9o

You need to hire Ivanova right at the beginning of the game to fix the laptop.

@ Mic (and anyone else)

You need to replace the map for sector E15. You find the replacement maps here:

http://ja-forum.gamigo.de/showthread.php?t=15341 Broken link, if you have an updated one, post here
(posting # 2)

You will also find updated maps for sectors H14 and P8 and an addon with new AE faces to go with B2B.

Sinclair - I went back to the crash site (on Day 3, 1:30am) to hire Ivanova but she was not there. Will she be there later in the day or am I out of luck?

Thanks for the input. I hung around the airport all day long looking for her to no avail. I wonder where she goes?

She dissappears. Probably the way that the pilot guy from UB does.

For Lytinwheedle and others, who can help:
It seems I'm stuck again... This time at L16, Corridor 2, after "liberating" the upper floor of the Armory. I tried to return back down, using the lift, to Corridor 1 in order to leave the Armory, but mercs can't move as soon as they find themselves there.
The steps leading up in L16 are useless. I blew up everything I could, pressed all the buttons and switches, all to no avail.
Is there some other way to leave the Armory, and return to the Factory (Kraftswerk)?

Ok, there is a bug when trying to leave L16_b1 or entering L15_b1.

Here is a possible solution: send your mercs one by one over the edge of the map (NOT by teleporter!). When the merc arrives at L15_b1 (Corridor 1) you'll see an error message. Ignore the error-message and guide your merc immediately to an accessible place in the map (otherwise he might head for an inaccessible location). Repeat this procedure for each of your mercs.

Arriving back in L15_b1 you must find an new way to go upstairs (to the Kraftwerk). Go to the large room in the southwest. There you'll find an elevator.

A great job on this mod. I reinstalled UB on my hard drive for this, and it was worth it. However, I have exhausted my knowledge of the german language and a pocket dictionary I have, so I request some help from others.... I am not necessarily looking for spoilers, but I have completed what I know how to do at this point.

First, I need help with the various new objects and what they are supposed to do:

1.Palm with modul- I think it attaches to something, but what?
2.budda statue- does that go to someone?
3.diskette- I think it goes to someone, but I don't know who
4.an/prc67 radio
5.gold ring- I think it is supposed to be a secret decoder or something, but how to use it?
6.umschlag- brown envelope?
7.kartenteil- treasure map?
8.DV-kamera- camera with data cable
9.kaugummi- chewing gum, with no x-ray, what's it for now?
10.praesser - a preservative maybe?
11. teddybear and bra are just filler?

and a possible spoiler question..

How do I gain access to the bank vault? I don't think the director tells, I tried various approaches, from bribes to C4. I presume a sequence of switches will work, but i can only get three doors to open.

And lastly, if any one wanted to make a short list of the characters and what info they gave up, it would allow us german-challanged players to appreciate the mod maker's hard work

Any help here is appreciated :animread:

Bank vault:

You must hire Rocco Caponi (sector g15). He will tell you all the details about the bank. For hiring this chap you need to give him the Beretta 12 SMG. Don't talk too much, don't threaten him!

A list of all characters in B2B has yet to be done.

English translation: no update so far. I suggest that only folks who grew up with English should translate the mod. Our English is not good enough for a decent localisation.

Sorry for a lack of updates, but I got a job just after X-Mas. I get paid on performance, so the more I work, the more money I get, and cash is currently hard to come by (student woes). So I have put my translation on the back-burner for the time being.

My work should be done some time in mid March, and I should be able to devote more time to the translation again. Sorry for this...

Using JA2EDT I can view and change the language in the various EDT files but it is slow going. I view a file, copy some of the text to BabelFish, translate it, then copy it back. Most of the translations are pretty bad, but at least you get an idea of what's going on.

Is it possible to give us a file containing *all* the NPC speeches? It would be a lot easier to translate....

Or at least let us know which character uses which EDT file so we can concentrate on translating the Quest related speech.

*EDIT*
Never mind...I found out that ProEdit gives a number for each NPC which corresponds with their EDT file...

Hello,
Randok - you need to install B2B in the same directory where is your JA2UB PL. After that everything works OK - I check it.
. I have the English version. Fresh install, same problem. Where is JA2UB PL? THANKS...

First...Excellent Mod, thank you !

Second, some questions:

1. How exactly do I use the 'Kresta Praeservative' ?

2. What's the 'diesel' for ?

3. Are there any vehicles available ?

4. Which items fit in the 'Toolbag' ? Same question for 'Survival Bag'. Do you find them usefull at all ?

5. I'm not able to hire any NPC I've encountered thusfar, did I simply run into the wrong NPC's ?

I don't have all the answers to your questions, but maybe I can help a bit...

1) Not sure. Some evidence indicates that it might be used with a watch and blasting cap to make a remote detonator, but that didn't work for me...

2) Diesel + fertilizer (dung) = ANFO, a low power explosive used in mining. I used to live near a mine and some of the miners would use explosives to fertilize their gardens....

3) I've found the Hummer. I don't know if any other vehicles are available.

4) All I got in the toolbag is the lockpicks. The Survival bag can hold a first aid kit, a regen, a canteen and a K-Ration.

5) So far I've hired Randa, Ivanova (she is in your initial sector!) and Rocco. I suspect at least 2 more are available as well. Ivanova is important because she has your laptop.

@Bane: Thanks a bunch. Near which sector did you find the Hummer ?

I've cleared all the sectors towards the oil-platform, but how do I reach it ?

:placard:

well, it is more of a fun item (regardless of what you think of it in real life) in b2b.

you will encounter other useless fun items as well. you can reach the oil platform from the capital`s airport (a teleporter near a chopper)

it`s not necessary to go there, but you can get some money the oil platforms boss has hidden there.

BTW, the vampire-caves: how do I get to that manhole with a ladder sticking out of it ? (I destroyed 3 or 4 vampires, but the quest doesn't feel solved, how can I check this ?)

How do the different airplanes work, anybody got a list of which airplane/teleporter goes to what sector ?

tnx a bunch

Try sector L10.

I have some questions of my own....

1) Are there any other merchants besides Mickey? If so where?

2) I suspect "Sneaker" has the ring (more than suspect...I can see he has it using ProEdit). How can I convince him to give it to me. There must be a way other than just killing him...

3) I passed through a sector where there was a militia battle. There was an NPC named "Gorgo" there who was affilitated with the rebels. He was OK when I talked to him but days later, when I was passing through that sector, he suddenly started shooting. I think it might be because I raided the UN Base. If so, does that mean that all other rebels are going to be gunning for me?

4) I talked to Dr. Flash and it seemed like he wanted something...not sure what...I thought it was mustard gas but he refused it. Anybody know what he wants?

5) Speaking of mustard gas, I used some and it now *explodes* like a regular grenade. In addition, it now seems to dissipate real fast. It doesn't seem nearly as useful.

6) Basically, what is the quest? I know I'm supposed to find a ring as well as a briefcase of some kind. Currently, I have the blackbox flight recorder and a data disk with flight path info.

there are two vehicles, looking the same, called kfz1 and kfz2, the latter of them is in omerta.

keith (from ja2) has a shop a sector south of the sector you found gorgo

i don`t quite remember about sneaker. have you tried threatening him?

sometimes, npc scripting seems a bit weird, but that is of obvious reasons.

well, the blackbox needs to be decoded from an NPC who has the skills... he needs to be convinced though (again, npc-scripting will cause some irritation)

the quest is first, to find the crashed plain, the blackbox, the diskette, maybe finding carlos will trigger additional information. Then, you are basicly free to wander around the map to find the ring. Then, your way will leed you to the capital, from where you can access the island "Mibo".
Just make sure to gather all necesarry items (like the ring) before going there. Most of the quests are irrelevant for the endgame trigger, most important is to get an item the allows you to trespass to the SAM-shelter. I didn`t have that item and needed to gun down couple of guys, having the luck of the enemy opening the door i was supposed to open myself.

@Bane: Concerning 'Gorgo' opening up on you. Was this at night ? Because I had problems with normaly friendly people shooting at me when I came across them at night. Must think I'm a burglar or something Wink

No, it was broad daylight. I first encountered him at night and he was fine. I came back a few days later during daytime to collect some stuff I left behind and he was hostile. Interestingly enought, the local militia was still friendly to me and gunned him down!

Ah...I was actually in that sector (K9) and didn't see him but I guess that was because I attacked that sector at night. I'll have to go back during daytime...

What sector is that exactly ? Is there something special I have to do to gain access to the vehicles perhaps ? (seen a lot of hummers in different sectors, but thought them scenery.)

@Bane: I tried L10 and surrounding sectors to no avail :whoknows:

@Chibbi

Sorry...don't know what I was thinking...

It was in sector C5 in the southwest corner of the map. There are a few militia troops there surrounding a "hummer".

Most of the vehicles you do see are just scenery. The ones you can use are different in that they disappear from the map if you don't have a line of sight to them. Also, they appear on the tactical overview as a white square, just like a civilian.]

Also....

I just encountered Pegasus, another Rebel type. He also fired on me, but oddly enough only when I had cleared the sector of enemies. So I'm guessing my relationship with the rebels is very bad. Hopefully this will not impact the game, but I'm guessing it will.

I don't seem to have that problem. What exactly did you do to earn this ? Kill the Nato troops or civilians perhaps ?

ps: tnx for the info on the vehicles :ok:

I went to that base and got me some equipment without them attacking me. Depends on what you want to take. I think I got some good armor without being attacked. Just quick save each time before you want to take something. They wont attack you for openening stuff up I think. It's when you take weapons that they attack, but not much worth taking anyway. imho

@Chibbi

Well....I didn't just open crates...I went down to the basement and mugged the troops there (there were only 6) and stole their weapons. I got 1 FAMAS, 1 M60 LMG and 4 H&K G11. Not too bad for only 6 kills, but probably not worth the grief I've gotten from the rebels.

I suspect I should have met the rebels first, then taken on the UN Base.
