the english patch for ja2 vengeance on ja2mods.de has been upadet! Rodney`s translated weapon and itemdescriptions have been added to the previous language patch. It is in the "patches" section of the site

Scorpion I am really enjoying this MOD. However the story ITEMS are in German. Is there anyway I can get a synopsis of each. Also I cant find any money,mail, oil or anything else of monetary value at Oil rig at B1 west of old Chitzena. Am I missing something??????

I got the mod Vengeance to run using the Cat Spam outline (I think) but with a few glitches. Manuel, Dimitri and Ira were not in the rebel underground camp. The strategic map uses the original town names but the city limits for the towns are shown to be a few sectors larger. Is this correct?

But when I try to use the password "DUMM" on the zip file (I have to drop out of the game and go to the folder holding the zip files) it doesn't work. This is the first zip storyline file I have come across and tried to open so I'm stuck there. Any ideas?

Relax:Manuel,Dimitri and Ira are not supposed to be in the underground rebel base.Just Carola.
Towns have new limits; they are/should be renamed.("yes to all"?)

As for the passwords,personally I never activated the air strikes, but you certainly need to apply a capital letter at the beginning("Dumm")

Towns should have new names, that's strange. Towns are much bigger in Vengeance. No Ira and Dimitri - new RPCs instead of them are available.
There is no need to give Joey mission doc, he's RPC now. To start your mission - just talk to Carola at underground rebel base , thats all.
About password - try "Dumm" or "dumm" , it should work.

Never mind! Thanks for the advice AZAZEL. I was spelling the code using all caps or all small case letters and they wouldn't unzip the word documents. When I tried using one cap and the rest small case ..... it worked! Except, it's all in German! Shoulda figured! Anyone translate the 5 zipped text files and how do you use the numerous .dat files? Are they specific to several sectors?

story items: these items are like small puzzle pieces that will all together give away a bit of a bakcground story. who is joey what does he do in the destroyed base and so on

honestly, they aren`t really relevant for how you play the game.

the .dat files are map files. You can extract these .dat files into the ja2/data/maps folder and you will then have an advantge in these maps (usually artillery fire/ various explosions)unless you have already visited them

in B1 there should be a head miner. try the large building that has this "minig commission" sign.

the towns should really have different names. If towns have old names, you`re probably not using the .exe file that came with ja2 vengeance

So far everything else looks like your mod is laid over my JA2Gold game except for the town names. The city limits are different and the word "Aduana" appears in four different places on the strategic map (for some unknown reason) but the town names are the same as original JA2.

Is there a specific file that contains the new names that maybe I didn't copy into the correct folder? Very strange!

no. The town names were hacked right into the exe. Old town names --> wrong ja2.exe

say, do the weapons/ items and their descrptions/ name match? because if an old exe were used, they would most probably be wrong too

the city limits aren`t really different, this is just a new map grafic, the red black and blue words that are new on the strategic map indicate border/ customs (aduana), mountain and sea names (e.g bahia de malino)

I am really enjoying your hard work. Yes, I have been launching Vengeance using the JA2Gold JA2.exe and that is why the names have not changed but the town boundaries have. The other patches worked and yes some of the weapon descriptions are a little skewed but swapping the JA2Gold JA2.exe for your Vengeance JA2.exe gives me the new town names but the english language patch does not apply. Very interesting.

Still ...... it's a heck of a lot of fun. Can the customs (aduana)sectors be attacked? What purpose do they serve? The soldiers there don't seem to get upset as I walk thru their turf and once again they don't speak my language so I don't know if they are just making conversation or insulting my momma!

customs sectors. They simply imply that there are places where people "could" leave the country

*hint*

The soldiers from the neighbroing countries are allies of you, so they`d support you in case you find enemies in this sectors

about the english language patch: you might try to re-apply it, it would surprise me if it didn^t work. (the updated language patch translates more now, but still not everything. But thanks to commandant and rodney for the translations! I hope it helps people unfamiliar with german to enjoy our mod

Recommendations:
-never use the excellent "TNT" if you recruited him(Devin Connell's replacement) to talk to Carmen.When Carmen tries to give him the diskette...the buy-sell inventory opens, Sad the game locks.
-new heroes don't seem to have the full speech list-if you play sci-fi and solve the queen bug with them you'll get a crash and the message "missing file on char number..."
-if you experience that strange bug with items on the ground having abnormal red colour,darkened faces, and impossibility to end turn once you engage in battle, then just go and engage the enemy in a sector where you have allies(militia idiots) and things will get back to normal.

k the game work.
but how i know if the game is in english?
becuase the description of the guns in english
but for example the man with the beret at the first level talk and its subs in germany
allso the aim write at german (head,body,healthy...)
so how i know if the game at english, becuase i dont want to start the game before i know the game at english.

and other Q: are the code gabbi work?
becuase i dont succed to run it, so if someone know the code of gabbi please tell me.

it is the german 1.02 version od the game that was used as a base for the mod. If it is possible in that particuliar exe, it will be possible in ja2 vengeance

I don't speak German, but that hasn't had any effect on the playability of the game.

sure there is. There are large enemy forces in m10, m11, m9, k11 and in this area. beating some of this troops will raise the loyality over 20 percent i think

the point is, m10 malino oilrig you can`t have militia there! need to defend it with mercenaries

try this: in tactic screen, hold doen the ctrl button and press type IGUANA

i never tried any cheats but given that ja2 vengeance bases on a very early version of the game you might get lucky.

if it won`t work, maybe CTRL-GABBI works?


alt-e would then reveal items and enemies

the latest english version not only translates weapon info into english but some of the quest related subtitles of the characters too. I guess with some patience you can figure out the quests. All quests are only side-quests. You don`t necessarily need to complete them. Many quests are the same as in the original

most problems that can appear were adresses in this or one of the other ja2 vengeance threads here in the forum. In case these threads don`t help, i am happy to answer questions and spoil information around Wink

you need to combine these items with another item that looks like a Gas canister (but has a longer name)

like that you create fire bombs that are launchable using the mortar

Are there any hints/spoliers out there how to follow the stroy line? I am working my way through by classic strategy (Drassen first, then next city and so on) but seem to be too stupid to use some of the interesting aspects. What to do with eg Joey's story line (document)? Did I miss anything, such as folders, like in SOG, that can be opened by the password it provides?

Have recruited 4 RPGs so far with my high leadership merc and they are cool but otherwise I think I miss the point...

Don't we all miss the storylines, because there's no complete translation for the NPCs. That's why I never played this mod. One word in english, ten words in german and so on... you'd think those germans would be considerate enough to make their mods in english, because a very much overpowering majority of the players ARE ENGLISH.

also, the most important things, including even the story items, were translated by commandant or rodney

btw i`m unsure... at the time we were making ja2 vengeance, this place hee was nearly dead while the german and russian communities were active, alive and kicking

It's much more easier to make a mod in your natvie language than in a foreign one. I worked two full days only on translating the most important lines of NPCs and E-Mails. So it's much work to translate a whole mod.

Well, I actually do read German and seem to have a more fundamental problem: what to do with the Joey doc. I read it, have the password, and then what?

I like the mod (so far) a lot as it is pretty challenging, at least I thought so.

there is a folder "zips" in your ja2 vengeance install

the password is used to unzip joeys.doc file, most probably "story item1.zip"

it gives you a slight impression of who joey is, why he is there and what has happened

in Burton. Really struggling with this. Though I can clear it, I just end up setting off the booby traps/explosives. Can't get in to open up locked away items - even with Barry, even if he's carrying a detector...help please.

sector o4 is the one with the large building in the middle, right? there are some tricks useful for this sector:

for the traps on the ground of the big building, there is a way of disabling them safely: use a merc with high experience level and metal detector. go onto the roof of the building and let him walk over the critical parts. I know it's bug using but if you have no level 9/ 10 merc it's probably the safest way. he will detect the traps on the ground and set blue flags

also, that building can be entered through the windows in some occasions, that can help sneaking past some ugly traps as well. hope this helps

Not really - though I appreciate you trying. I already noticed that my IMP sets the blue flags when on the roof but she doesn't get all of them whether I give her a detector or not.

But I've worked out all the traps are in the main entrances or in the hallways leading to the central lobby - and the rooms I want to get to are at the four corners. So I've just blown holes in the walls - I got more bazookas than I know what to do with now. Very Happy

could sombody please send me the english translate link or file, in email, attachment much applause to the og who does. also got this mod to work with out german slf hence in english for weapons desciptions like pros and cons and also laptop and stats like health dex etc with a install of
gold then put vengece over that then ran the patch to version 112 it ran patch and lauchned the game. but you could not steal guns well you would even get wounded and then critical when he was down the he would pop up out of now were and shoot you. but got a fresh intall now and new faces but still dont see mercs to hire can hire aim but not the extra mercs got email but wont load screen any ideas.. did a fresh install then put in patched 112 and the german .slf into data folder but everything runs fine just no mercs and cant find underground base to start found manual but not underground base.. which in jagged alliance 2 you were walked to did i miss somthing..i know i want the world but hey its a great mod anyway thanks for the mod that wont die i have bought this 4 times now
lol move and lost even threw away 2 times thinking itwas dead then bamm vengance pops up the rest you know about alot of us were there as i see in this forum lol

the initial quests are different in vengeance. no fatima walking to the rebel hideout.

the new quests are described in emails and through NPC interaction. at sector b10, you can encounter the first RPC, joey. others are in san mona and between omerta and drassen (cities have new names though)

to get info on these quests, please check www.khelle.de if they feature a vengeance English patch to download, that would maybe easen the approach to the mod.

there are no custom mercenaries at AIM, but at MERC and ingame recruitable chars (RPC'S)

without german.slf, some features like accessing the german version web sites won't work properly though.

Thanks scorpion i went to a10 i didnt find joey but i didnt find manuael at b9 what i meant to say is my screen at aim the back ground pictures are differnt nails has biger face and steriod dex is only 40 but i cant get the merc team to open up i get the email and i dont get the link did the fresh install then to ver 102 then german
slf in data game runs fine but no mercs just aim

i had same problem with hour glass at cut sceen
when i ran the mod on a hybrid in urban chaos like they tell you to install it on page one of this link. every time i go to that link you gave me at www.khelle.de it just brings up the home page where do i go to get patch i was told patch section but i dont speak or read german well please help and thanks for quick reponse also i get sirware topware interactive for opening page then vengance 2 should it do this i had heard that you should get a double sword thanks agian

thanks for fast repley scorpion this game rocks its no mod but a real game it is way better than any game or mod i have played in jagged allianc
the others were easyto beat but the ai is unreal
and the no stop combat is real cool..hat off to you you rock is their a user guide to pit items togther or were do you find the drugs once AGIAN THANKS :cheers: i have the english patch if anyone needs it will it work with the nk version i read somewere it wont and cant find full version at all anyway it is fun :placard:
