The Russian name is simply a transliteration of the English 'JA3', where the 'JA' part is pronounced as in JAzz. This is consistent with the way Russian players often informally refer to the JA games in forums, etc. I wonder if they can get away with it.

if THAT is the actual release cover of that game, it just HAS to be shitty!

if you have to use so cheap sexy pics to make it sell anyhow, the cover usually is the best of the game anyways.

Yeah, Max Payne in one of his adventures must go to room 667, and he says "667, the neighbor of the beast"

Just shows you have good idea's, now to think of them first, haha.

@Snap:

Are you serious? Is that the way that JA is specifically referred to?

Meaning that JAZZ in Russian would mean JA or Jagged Alliance?

Yeah, that's what I thought. Either that or a clueless marketer. Then again, what do I know about Russian markets? Perhaps that's the way to sell sophisticated RPG-tactics-strategy games over there.

Well, ДЖА (pronounced 'jah') would be a common way to refer to a JA game in informal communication, if you don't feel like switching to the Latin font. The proposed Russian name is ДЖА3. Now, the figure 3 looks just like a capital Russian letter that is pronouned as 'z'. If you substitute one for the other in ДЖА3, you get the Russian word for jazz. So it's sort of a pun.

What is most amazing about JAZZ to me, is the ugly, cheap looking, overblown user interface, with those sticks. While the gui in JA-games was sometimes overdecorated and lacked a sense of taste, it never wasted so much screen space for the ugly stuff.

Nice to see destructible buildings though.

I agree. Is the entire eastern Europe masturbating to Fox? She always ends up on their promotion material.

Thats one cool exploitation-style DVD case. This is getting better and better. :transform:

This genre has two branches, the E5/7.62 with more emphasis on combat. And a vapourware JA3, that will be developed as a budget title that's supposedly more tuned toward 'entertainment'..

GFI are doing just the right thing. Funny, unpretentious title, novelty cover :shake:

That picture reminds me of the end game animation in Brigade E5 with the girl coming out of the shower and the sniper...Nice! Wink

It seems showing a little bit of skin has become the norm in eastern europe. That's OK with me, I like open minded ppl. I hope they will not submit to the censorship of the retards controling US media who scream in horror at a glimps of a nipple.
I wonder what did they sucked when they were small?

There is a difference between showing tits and arse for the purpose of the story (Sin City comes to mind, posters show lots of flesh, but that's because the birds in the entire cartoon universe do so), rather than to fool gullible idiots into buying it because the cover looks 'hot'.

The cover has nothing to do with the contents or the style of the game, it's just useless eye-candy, like showing nipples in margerine adverts on TV (as they do(did?) in Germany for a while). As is, the cover is nothing but an embarassment, it's childish and with no point other than to sucker kids/losers into buying it.

Christ, I sound like a bloody pensioner.

If you don't want "sucker kids/losers" then they can't provide modding tools because that'll invite idiots like the "modsquad" and we'll get the game destroyed with all overpowered mercs and weapons again. Hell I still feel insulted by that drunkard "Rude Dog", fit very well with the other mercs though, I don't think he realized it Smile

And Sin City, the chicks in the movie were absolutely aseptic and cold. Funny movie even with some mercenary scum around but there was just enough *** to heat up the american censors (and their Taliban friends too :openmouth: )

So if ya want *any* tactical games commercially successfull.. give in to populist measures :diabolical:

Like hot girls in bikini in brazillian beer ads... Wink

Just because here in Brazil they put chicks drinkin' beer doesn't mean that I'll drink beer... (Too much bitter in my opinion)

The cover of JA2 really didn't give too much of a hint about the quality of the game... I actually had to be referred to it by another... Cant say I would have picked it off the shelf.

I dont mind nipples here in the goood Ole' US
