I'm playing with Arulcans having US weapons. Lowest level squads have Garands, M1 Carbine and M1919A6.
Next level has M14s and M1919A6. Next level has M16A1s and M60s. Then M79s get added. Finally, the most elite units have OICW and XM-8s.

I changed my To&E - now, all the branches of Arulcan army have the same armament:
M16A1 for individual weapon, and 2 M-79 and 1 M60 for every 12 men.
I have noticed that red/yellow shirts don't get any ammo for their M-79s, but blackshirts do.
There's no Diablo-style weapon/armor progression.
There is only one armor/helmet type - steel helmet and flak jacket.

So.. anyone managed to do this? Or am I to make more "realistic" item choices for enemies by myself?
I don't understand worlwide weaponry of different countries so much, but after some days playing, seeing that almost every enemy has a different weapon does not seem right. One guy comes with Steyer Scout and next to him stands someone with M24 and another one has FN Five-Seven?!?! Desert Eagle .50 - as an army equipment?!? And so on.. wow. I think many of us would really appreciate if anyone can post here your work on more realistic enemygunchoices.

Hm, nevermind, I've made it for myself. One little tip - you can set number of choices to 50 and then fill it with weapons which you want to see most, while keeping some uncommon around as well. So I can for example put there 45x AK-47 and the rest fill with something else, which results in 90% enemies carrying AK-47. But I guess everyone might already figure this out. Bye.

Well anyway, if the US did equip Deidranna's army, the stuff they gave is most probably 2nd hand equipment that's basically anything the Defense Department can afford giving away.
The equates to mostly old Soviet equipment, older no longer issued US military equipment just collecting dust in some national guard armory and anything selling dirt cheap in the black-market.
So basically it's the default JA2 enemygunchoices minus the high-quality/experimental weapons like the CAWS, C7, AWM, the SCAR variants, PSG-1.

if the us officially equipped them, it was at that time quite new and a kickback through arms-aid to the us weapons industry. the stuff you mentioned goes to unofficially equipped (para-)military as the contras or the bay-of-pigs guys.

Does it matter so much? I think that the unlogical thing is that in one group of enemies, almost everyone has different weapon from diffrent part of the world. That's not a way how to equip an army, right? So.. we can make more enemygunchoices for every option.
And the armor - spectra? dyneema? kevlar? Is kevlar a standard protective gear for large armies?

Oh, sorry, my fault.

I have also one idea about armor for enemies to make them tougher - you can create special armor, much more effective, flag it as "defaultundroppable" in the items.xml and put it in the enemyitemchoices.xml instead of the regular one. You can name it the same way as the normal one. You can also use it in map editor or MercStartingGear and give it to specific enemies, you need to be extra strong, or special NPC (terorrists, hitmans, Mike, Deidranna). This can spice things up.

They did not get Dyneema either, the lighter armors are for the mercs to buy themselves. EDIT: The army thus still has access to protective gear on par with the mercs' armor, their's is just heavier.
They also lost access to NV-Gen.III. and some LBE-gear.

I considered the Rocket Rifles to be still in development Wink

Good, I also removed the NVG III in my games, also on all the maps (WF map), where the enemies had it by default along the dyneema armors. NVG III can be only bought or found on one of the terrorists. The NVG IV is only one in the whole game - down in orta basement.Smile
I thought spectra armor is a very special thing. I am to make a special set of spectra-like armor, which will be undroppadble and give it to at least 75% of enemies to competent the fact, that so often I wear the best quality armor and want to make the enemy protection equivalent to mine, while not giving me the oportunity to lay my hands on tons of spectra things. If you know what I mean.. My spectra or even dyneema will be a rare comodity but the enemy will still be a match for me even in a kevlar(modified).

Spectra is nothing special. I have a light armour that when treated it becomes better than spectra, but prior to that it's about as good as guardian. Just a personal preference really, it's not meant to be balanced, though it allows my quieter pointmen to be more efficient. Oh and it's as rare as hen's teeth. Only two ingame normally.

I forgot to mention it though! Also I have edited inventories a bit and got rid of the prototypes being all over the place. Now those G11's are gonna be hard to get again, as well as those WA2000's. I would have added that Steyr IWS2000 prototype but my pic for it isn't quite ready yet.

Oh and there is a much better Gepard pic (GUN214) in the DBB mod v906 onwards. It really does look good compared to the untouched scan currently ingame Wink

I would have added that Steyr IWS2000 prototype but my pic for it isn't quite ready yet.

You may want to look at GUN308.STI Wink
It is already in for some time now, but I never implemented the gun because it is just too big for JA2.

Grrr, you sly dog you...

True it is an anti-armour rifle. I was going to implement it for Snipers to be able to use their skills against tanks, but have limited use against soft targets. Ammo would be ultra scarce, so it's like the LAW's and RPG's in use.

There's an idea Headrock, though I want to import in the MTAR, CTAR, SMG and STAR versions of the TAVOR first. I've already got the Jericho 941 from IOV/COS/DBB in my graphic set (for DL-1.13). One of projects tangental to the main UC-1.13 Hybrid right now for me is identifying any additional items and weapons that I should make space for. As mentioned elsewhere I plan on reviving the Prime Vendor concept as part of one big combined UC/DL/Folding Stock Mod, but before I go and start reordering things again, I thought I should fix the item list first.

Likely Progression:
1. Jericho 941
2. Micro Uzi
3. Mini Uzi
4. Uzi, ACS Hezi SM-1
5. Micro Gali, Tavor SMG
6. MTAR Tavor, Galil SAR
7. CTAR Tavor, Galil
8. Galil Sniper
9. TAR Tavor
10. STAR Tavor

Oddly, even IOV doesn't have the Negev LMG, and that's the biggest gap that I can see.

Also Galil ARM, which was before the Negev. And the Dror LMG before that.

If you're going for "all-israeli-made weapons" regardless of whether they were ever in IDF service, add the M89SR sniper rifle and Desert Eagle.

Also note that if you want guns issued regularly by the IDF over the years, you need to include various foreign weapons like:

  • Bren
  • Sten
  • FN-MAG
  • FN-FAL
  • various M-16 models (A1, A2, A4, M4, M4A1, possibly even others).
  • Glock 17
  • List of some currently-used weapons, though it's hardly complete. Must be a better one on Wiki somewhere.

Other Israeli-made but non-standard guns:
  • BUL M-5 and BUL Storm
  • Barak (SP-21)

Hmm it seems on further inspection the M89SR is just an M14 bullpup. Similar to the Bulldog 762 chassis which is slightly better made. Very interesting as I've was playing with M14 bullpup's in PS ages ago Smile

Also the M89SR is almost identical to the AWC G2 M14 bullpup too...

My two cents on a dead topic: Arulco = based on Belize . . . Belize is mostly white, English is the official language, part of the British Crown Empire (like Canada where Sir Tech was), has some Mayan ruins (Chitzena), smallest country in Central America, lowest population in Central America, Cordona is one of the most popular names, jaguars (bloodcats) hunt inj the jungle . . . etc, etc, etc. Sorry, just had to say it. ;-) But r4eally, it's just a game and an imaginary land.
