Ok, we'll try here something Eki did a long way ago, on Voice of Arulco. Post here the best tactics for taking these sectors (more will follow). I want post strictly on topic. Anything else will be deleted and sanctioned. The best of the best will go into JA Galaxy's JA2UC Tips section for immortality and eternal fame.

Post here tactics for sectors A9, A10, A10 subway, B9, B10

A9 (only sector I played so far...).

The militia will do most of the killing for you.

I think the best way to go is to recruit Rosebud (if this is possible before the sector is cleared). Then focus on 1 enemy a bit away from your militia, knock him out and take his gun.

If there are other enemies around that are easy to approach (around a corner and stuff), you can knock them out and steal their guns too.

I ended up with a pistol for each one of my mercs (4 in total, on novice, that is).

militia will do the killing? I wish...
had to punch them all myself.

especially the northern group is easy as you can use the trucks on the street for cover.

you can also use the boxcutter in the bin near rosebud, but fist are still better than any knife in my opinion.
try to have at least one merc search for a first aid kit immediatly on arrival. it will help after the battle.

as for the other sectors, you should do them on day one if possible, as the police and the biker gang won't be hostile yet. clear the sector of enemies then go after them and get their goodies.

Sorry (too fast typing).

For A9, I played it a bit cynical. I waited behind cover (along the main building wall near the eastern small house) until a first militiamen got killed and droped a Makarov. My best shooter then sprinted and climbed on the roof of the small building. In order to help the militamen and to protect my other mercs, who were taking care the northern ennemy group using cover at best (corner walls, cars..).

After that you should have enough firepower to repell and terminate the southern bad guys.

A10 - hit it on the first day so the cops dont join in the fight. It was alot easier for me entering the sector through the subway. you can get 4 bad guys in the subway building and a couple more in the parking lot. Then its mop up.

BTW - if you go into the cops back room and close the door behind you, you can take their stuff without being attacked. Guess they have to see you in the locker.

A9: Militia.

I then got Carmen by himself and knocked him out and took his SMG Very Happy

Cleared the subway of Shark (oh yeah hired Rosebud first)

A10: Enter through subway, then it is easy once you get a guy on the roof with Carmen's SMG. You can find a Car-15 in one of the rooms there Very Happy

Move to B10: Same principal, get people on the roofs and easy pickins.

I had the bikers turn on me after staying the night here, so be careful. You can then pick up Rude Dog.

I then had enough cash to Hire Arayana and Razor (my favorite merc from the original, thanks for keeping him in!)

B9: I got everybody to link up in A10 and distribute weapons/armor to the newbies then sent two squads to hit B9 from top and from B10.

Used the buildings for cover and the trees. By this time I had an M4, Car15, and two PP whatever SMGs, so no prob letting the bad guys come to you.

I too thought that what the cops couldn't see wouldn't come back to bite you. However, the next time I returned to the sector the cops attacked me and I was forced to either retreat or kill them. I choose the easier route (killed 'em). This has happened twice so far. In the future, I will likely avoid stealing from the cops but if they want a fight I'll give them one.

Dang! It's been so long since I played JA2 and JA2DL (been doing UB and several of the mods) that I have forgotten the where and why of many of the JA2 features. UC has a different look but certain things are still as I NOW remember them. Gotta go looking for my old Strategy Guide and see what else I might have in store for my guys and gals. Thanks MOD Squad!

I also forgot some of the features, like, I knew there was a keyboard combo to switch squads, but forgot it and the "stelth mode button"--Z, and I was pushing Control or Alt and ordering the mercs to move at the same time.

I like night operation, therefore I will wait until it is dark to clear A10, B9, and B10.
This way, the mercs' short-range weapons will not be too "short-ranged".
While waiting, I will clear all subway stations to get better experience/marksmanship/weapons for my mercs. It also clear the way for future attacks.

Just posted those combos in JA2UC Announcements. To be precise, it's press 1 to 9 to select teams in the same sector.

A9:
you've got more than enough time to sprint to the counter and give the manager your claim ticket, he'll take you to the back room where you can get your pistol and 6 clips of ammo... then run to Rosebud... recruit him and have him hand you his armor and helmet... if done quickly enough, the fighting won't start until this time...wait while the militia takes out the guys up north and one or two down south... then sneak down south along the outside of the fence. about three squares away from the corner, fire a warning shot... one idiot always runs down and lets you plug 'im fulla lead. Then have rosebud go shuffling around inside the fence about halfway up, making LOTS of noise... have your merc crouch and sneek along up and you should get close enough to the last guy to hit him twice with one round on full ap shots... if that doesn't kill him, he'll usually miss and you can kill/loot. Don't forget to open all the crates and upgrade your mercs with the two flak jackets in the manager's storeroom.

A10:
That first day, I gave the found toolbox to rosebud and had him repair everything all through the day. That night I went to A10... starting at the bottom left corner of the screen, work your way around the jewelrystorelike building and sneak your way across the street to the closest building just to the right of the PD parking lot. hop on the roof and try to spot someone without getting shot at... throw something worthlessoff of the roof in the NW direction and walk to the southeast corner of that roof and get back down. Run around (you might encounter one or two soon to be corpses) the back of these buildings away from the PD and hop on the next available roof, slowly working your way accross... pick 'em off as you go, swith rooftops etc etc.

once you've cleared the parking lot, there should be four left... three in the station house and one up by the Subway sign... (I need a sandwich!) The one by the sign is easier taken out by approaching from the SE along the little wall and shooting him in the head... As for the three in the station, enter through the door without the switch from main parking lot VERY SLOWLY AND QUIETLY... you should have first attack... kill, but DO NOT ADVANCE... walk around the backside of the same building and go through the back door (which should be open) he'll be there watching for you by the other corpse... plug him.

Finally, have Rosebud use his mighty crowbar (which is so useful since you probably can't pick locks yet) to break open the door... have your merc then go inside and watch the bathroom doors to the left... make any noise and he'll come out (presumably with TP still stuck to his shoe) and cap him. Loot Loot Loot!!!

more to come later, as I'm stuck busy at work for the moment...

Many items in Police's lockers have 'ownership'.
If you take such items, police will become hostile.
A10 police station is the best place to get a silencer in day 1, it is a must for me and I do not mind to start another fight to get it.

Something I did notice, if you just open every door/crate/locker, and don't take anything, go to your inventory screen, you can usually pick it up there with no problems from 5-Oh or anyone else in the sector.

A10 Subway This does not seem to have been covered too much... I enter from A9. I hate being cooped up in that small entry way, so I deliberately select the whole squad and RUN about 5 squares out from the end of the entry tunnel. You have to be quick. Then you will be surrounded by the goons, which is the best place to be. I went down with 4 mercs. This tactic may not work with 1-2 mercs, but you must move before Shark's dialog starts.

Items with ownership may be displayed as 'greyed/dimmed' in the inventory screen, therefore cannot be picked there, have to be picked in tactical screen.

Shhh, you can pick up any of these for free by hitting M (for mapscreen) immediately after taking the item. I guess that qualifies as another exploit that can wreck the game :devilaugh:

I'm a little late playing UC , well a week or so, but I had no problems with Atremo.
A9: just let the militia do the work. I was able to explore the place while the militia mopped up easily. Then picked up the spoils. This was on experienced level.

Subway: Let the gang come to you in the narrow corridor. This acts as a bottleneck. That way they can only come about two at a time. As someone said, wise to have more than two mercs here - I had 4. The gang taken out without any problems. Take the Car-15.
A10: Up from the subway take out the goon in the room on your left. Carefully move out of the building and take up defensive positions outside by the cars and bench. Enemy will take cover behind walls. Keep them pinned down with Car-15 and then circle round with others. Used Jubilee with double Marakovs and Rosebud with sawed off shotgun to hit them behind the wall. All gone.

Repaired items and sent for another Merc.
Took B10 and then B9 at night in groups of two. On both there was a small counter-attack that ocurred less than an hour later so be prepared by moving into a good position. On B10 I left my squad in the biker bar and killed the new force from close range through the windows. :ok:

That's weird. I've never had either one of them not cooperate. Did you kill civillians or ever the green shirt 'militia'? I usually wait to kill the latter at least until after the first battle is done.
It's a good thing to hire Rosebud before the battle starts but this is not always possible.

I went into my old archives and I pulled out the posts I made for the three games I played. I still haven't finished this game but hey, I ran out of ritalin to calm the ADHD down enough so I could concentrate on one thing at a time.

A9: Drop sector

I am only going to use RPC's from Danubia this time.

I went in all by my lonesome this time and I HATE the amount of waiting that happens while the Militia and Army go toe to toe.

I grabbed the Mak out of the crate and went off to the North East in search of somebody to whack. I got one guy and the Militia got one guy. Their kill produced another Makarov and I trotted off to find more of the suckers. I encountered a little resistance and a lot of help.

The Army died pretty quickly with a little help from the Other guys.

There was a ton of ammo on the ground and I left it there while I went to talk to Carmen. He is a really nice guy for a bounty hunter. He gave me a laptop and a machete. I liked him so much that I had to toss a stun grenade right behind him and shoot him in the head until he left me his Ppsh.
I like this weapon. It's got a great beat and you can dance to it.

I hired Rosebud, even though he is pretty much overshadowed by the AIM members.
He is carrying a Mak and a bunch of ammo.

A9 Subway Shark and the fish kids

The first time I went in here with just Rosey by my side we got what Shanga affectionately has referred to as WTWO'd in two rounds. They were swarming like like a weight watcher's convention to the all you can eat chocolate f*cking buffet table.

Relax, retreat, reload! I came in guns ablazing this time. I got one shot off but missed and we went tactical. Rosey capped the nearest beotch in one unaimed shot to the coiffure. I got one from further away with the Russian killing utensil made from stampings.

That didn't stop us from taking any damage because then somebody rang the dinner bell and the crack suckas were rounding the corner in twos. I rocked my way pretty easily and RBud got cut for about fifteen damage. No biggie compared to giving him the Ppsh and finding the CAR-15 and regens so we can suck up the gut wound and carry on. I'm going Cop Hunting next!

I came in from the UBT on stealth with Rosey and Bobbo. There wasn't anyone there to immediately greet them. This was a little unnerving. I wasn't going to have the enemy rush at me right away like normal. I don't know if this was a good thing or a bad thing. Rosey opened the door to the west wing and took a slug from the freaking puke that was just hiding in there. Burst fire from the burp gun and he was gone. Bob ran past the door to cover the rest of the hall while Nosebud patched himself up.

I stealthed out the back door and around the building because walking out the front door always spells disaster, WTWO, and it only takes a couple of Uber shots to waste two guys.

I snuck the whole way to the west side of the map and then south around the Cop Shop. As I rounded the corner I saw two Red shirts that must have been watching where Five-O was running around in circles, because they immediately opened fire with their Hand Held Howitzers.
"Yeah, that could have been close, but I've got some kick-ass karma."
CAR-15 time to their prone bodies and buh-bye boys.

I got the bright idea to leave Rosey sit in the open by the Southwest corner of the police HQ and sneak Bobbo the Kat man in between HQ and the lock up.

Surprise, surprise, surprise, werent' there three of the f*ckers standing in the windows out of Rosebleed's LOS. Crack, OWWWW, and I beat feet back to take my rightful place next to Rosebud the human bullet lead magnet.

Screw this, I went across the road to the south and hopped on a roof top to lick my wounds. I love sniping the bastards from up here. It made what I thought was going to be very tough into relatively easy work, Prairie dog style.

The freaking Po-Po was a different matter altogether. I knew there was no way my Pop-Up and Drop One routine was going to work with so many of Atremo's finest swarming around like I had a pallet of Krispy Kremes in my pocket.

We went inside the lockup where the lockers were and I waited for the butt clown hiding in the toilet to go outside. Let the stealing begin!

Rosey popped open the lockers succesfully and nabbed some cash without incident, but I got greedy when I saw the suppressor in one of the adjacent rooms. I had to have it. Unfortunately the toilet guard was standing outside and opened fire. Well, unfortunately for him, he didn't hit anything but glass and concrete so I had to jack him up and send his wife into widow's pension collection land.

Rosey covered the only entrance while the Kat Kid played Jackass in the box by the window.

It took a while with every round consiting of Crouch, Fire, Prone for Bob, and Open, Fire, Close door for Rosebud.

Eventually no one else came along to their fair share of bullet holes and I had to go find the last few f*cks on my own.

Did I mention that the roof is my friend. I hate the G*d D*mned walls around the parking lot because you can fire 657 bullets at the bastard behind it and only hit him once off of a ricochet, Rabbit.

Up above afforded me a much better view to a kill, and then it was on to the two pukes guarding stuff I really didn't have much of a need for anyway. Oh well, they had to die. At least it was quick with a couple of bursts from the window.

I love the drops in this sector. It is never an easy battle and the rewards seem to compensate greatly for your achievement.

I feel the need to go get RUDE!

B10 Biker Boys go Bye

To Hell with the sector west of here for now. I want the Rude One to help rule the roost. I came straight in from the North and made it right up to a rock that gave BK some cover. I'd need a freaking building for Rosebud to hide behind and his ass would still stick out by a foot and three quarters.

I took minimal damage while waxing the dumb asses that rushed me. Fortuitously enough, they decided that they should get really close to be able to shoot their pistols.
Rosebud got some Bob got some and all were happy.

I made my way around the map and juiced the Army before I let Rosebud get told that a treehouse in a world full of piss wasn't enough refuge to get the Rude Dude to sign on with him. Bob Kat and Rude hit it right off though. Then it was clobberin' time!

The biker trash didn't know what hit them. Yeah, they got a couple of lucky shots in but now I have and extra Ppsh to give to Tex when I finally get over there.

I'm not going to take the Road to Callisto because I think Bing Crosby and Bob Hope made that a very popularly travelled route ever since that movie. I don't like bridges in the daylight anyway.

just started urban chaos after finishing unfinished business, i went into sector A10 straight from A9, instead of entering the subway.

Haven't seen any tactics on how to take the sector before the subway yet, i haven't done the subway so it might be a pushover with the weapons from the police lockers, i dont know yet.

anyway, i started A9 with running and crawling after the militia, and managed to pick up 3 makarovs alongside the gun from the locker, hired rosebud for a total of 5 mercs (fidel, grunty, jubilee, me, rosebud) so 4 had firearms.
i'm playing on experienced btw.

When you try the A10 sector i think it a good idea to enter just below the road that goes into it from A9. You'll come out between some trees and a roof, which you can take immediately.
From there you can pretty easily hop to the large roof next to it, and have your other mercs move either under and around the large building to the alley and the third roof from the left. you can also move one of your mercs towards the truck just outside the parking place.
You might encounter one or two enemies on the way there, but they can be taken from the roofs pretty easily.

when you are in position on the two roofs with the alley between them and maybe someone behind the truck, you'll start to spot the enemies that defend the parking place, they are pretty far away though. I managed by running 2 mercs towards the roof above the third from the left (right of the parking place), there will be an enemy on the other side of the windowed building full of desks, so you should run with caution, you can then spot him from the roof (the right on of the two you were on) and crawl your mercs to the window he in front of to kill him.

Next place one of your better mrk marcs on the roof of the desk building, and hit and run the guys in the parking lot, while giving spotting them with your guys on the original roofs, who can also do some cover fire. (in my case this was fidel).

After that it is pretty much a mop up. you can take another roof northwest of the parking places and you'll spot the remaing few guarding the subway building. You can also walk around the buildings south of the subway, then around the busstop and onto the parked cars in front of the subway, these will let you get in close range if the enemies stay close to the subwaybuilding.

Next you can of course like most here, try your best on pludering the buildings, i found out that you arent required to have your mercs doing nothing hided while stealing from the lockers. As long as the one who's stealing is not visible (by closing the door) you're okay.
