Hello,
my mercs were doing fairly well, when Spike quit. No apparent special reason, no earlier complaints, no low morale for a long time, just quit. I went back to an earlier save game, and the same thing happened again. Tried alcohol, tried leaving him alone by himself, tried a good, morale-raising battle, but, always the same result.

Any guesses as to why? Who from JA2 is a "modelled" (based) upon? Anyone have the same problem?

Did you have money ? He gets pays at 00.00 every night. You must have 1000 dollars then, its the same thing with Cobra and Kelly.

Darn, I thought they're working for free because their rates did not add up to the "daily cost" in the personnel page. Oh, well... Uh Oh

Hello,
no, that's another oddity - I had more than enough cash to pay him (also, he quit in the middle of the day). I wonder what's going-on, and why.

Before Spike quit on me I noticed a "message # 31 missing" in white. Then when he quit I got another message in white just as he quit (same as above). There was enough money, although he was with other mercs at the time.

Also, I noticed when playing postie he gave one of Hamous's messages when spotting a enemy "naughty man!". So my guess is, to add a new merc/npc, they have to use up one of the available "slots" which means another merc has to go.

Spike quit in my game too Sad

Perhaps he didn't like one of the other mercs.

Does any of you guys have Fidel in your team?

The only way I can keep Spike is to dismiss Fidel, do these guys have a problem with each other?

Spike quit less than 24 hours after I hired him even though he had high morale. On the other hand, who like Fidel anyway?

I like Fidel !

And he works perfectly with Haywire and Razor.

Da chicken Spike is a lady who has left the team on a menstruation period. When I find this traitor I'll separate his head from his body. He was only useful because of his striker stuff and M16, but know Grizly will replace him !

Hello,
yep, my only reasonable guess is that Spike took-over the spot of a merc who has one of those *serious* personality conflicts. Thus, he quit because he couldn't stand working with another merc, but, I never got warnings (complaints) because the speech was altered. That's my best guess. Now, who did he replace???

Spike probally is in Iggy's spot. I think he even had an Iggy quote once.

In the regular JA2, Iggy would quit if you had Fidel.

Spike doesn't have any likes/dislikes, but he "learns to like" Ivan, and "learns to hate" Fidel, in "9" (whatever the unit might be, days, seconds, bullets fired).
So it's possible that Fidel makes him quit.

(to see that, fire up proedit.exe, it's inside your /Data/BinaryData folder)

Lynx took off for a week or two for a volunteer fire fighting job, but I have him back now. Razor quit when spending too much time with Biff (I reloaded and fired Biff as my militia is fully trained, thus no more need for Biff). Does anyone know if you can prevent quitters by keeping certain mercs separated (Steroid away from the I-team, etc.)?

Methinks that if you keep mercs who dislike one another in different sectors, they won't quit on you.

Cheers,
Vurt

Yes, I managed to keep Steroid plus Ivan and Igor quite a long time, by avoiding having them in the same sector. As long as Steroid doesn't see them, he doesn't complain.
I don't know if it works forever though, since at some point I had to fire Steroid to make place for some more usefull merc.

You can keep Mercs who hate each other in the same sector. JUst keep them busy!

If you need both to travel the same route at the same time, assign them to seperate squads and send both squads at once, no problem. Also I;ve had them on choppers together with no problems.

I ALWAYS employ mercs who hate each other! It's more amusing, and there's greater variety.
A shame that sometimes someone has to go (separating them doesn't always work), but I don't get too attached to any particular team member, so if they die or take permanent stat loss, well, that's what AIM insurance is for!
(btw, I don't make an IMP anymore, I'm sick of hearing the same voice all the time). Sometimes I just pretend that I'm directing a Tarantino-esque action flick, all the main characters get splattered.
